Much too fast.......2005-04-13

Aage Haugland is fantastic, also as a narrator, but the tempos are way too fast on this recording. This is not what Stravinsky wrote. All the marches are written in tempo 112 and this is more like 120!! The recorded sound is very good and the musicians are excellent.

Amazing.......2004-04-21

This album is very different. Recorded by a member of Can in the early 70's this album invokes images of Big Black, Sonic Youth and the eastern, magic mushroom inspired ambience and tape loops of Can.

Songs such as "Smell" and the heaviness of "Being" are the best in their noble forgings into heavy experimentation in metal. While "Smell" is more a minimalist track it goes in and out of noise smashing, that of which many metal bands use as formula these days. "Being" almost uncanny in that it truly sounds like a lot of mid 80s and 90's hardcore and industrial acts, but still retains much ambience and melodicism unlike the bands that would fall into this. It almost sounds like Submission Hold or Coercion meets Big Black, it's truly amazing considering the time period of the piece, the music and aggravated female vocals are truly unparalleled.

Theoretical Girls definitely took from some of these guitar lines, and many industrial bands also take from this style of play. The vocals are wildly sung sometimes animalistically growled. This is very interesting, although I wish I understood the language. Although many of these songs are still breaths in minimalism, shoegazing and experimentalism the heavier songs are what stand out here. Industrial and experimental fans definitely need to check this out.
