Forefront's New Breakthrough Band.......2007-04-03

Ever since I heard the single "Casting Off," I've been eagerly awaiting the release of this album. I must say that I am very impressed. Of course like most albums, there are a few songs that I don't really care for, but overall, I think this is a great debut album, especially for a Forefront band. For those of you who don't know, Forefront is the record label for artists, such as Audio Adrenaline, DC Talk, Rebecca St. James, and Toby Mac. Back in the 90's, they were one of the top Christian record labels. Since then, their artist roster has decreased and other Christian record labels, such as Tooth and Nail and Flicker records have taken over. However, I believe Forefront is going to make it's way back to the top again. Adding This Beautiful Republic to their roster was a much needed move. And to be honest, I was surprised that they took on a band with such an edgy style. In the past, Forefront have leaned toward the Christian Contemporary side of the market. It will be interesting to see what they are going to do next. I think This Beautiful Republic is a just glimpse of what's to come for Forefront!

Great CD.......2007-02-14

If you like any of Guster's new stuff you'll love this earlier production. It has multiple hits on it, and flows very well from one song to the next. The title track "Parachute" is one of my favorite songs of all time.

Almost, but not quite.......2006-04-21

It's true that this album is definitely more "raw" than their other albums (the explanation being that it's also among the earliest). However, that has pros and cons: It's pretty emotional compared to other albums in the singing aspect, but the whole album kind of has a rough feel (the acoustics), and aren't very cohesive with one another.

Also, be warned that the singing is largely different from the other albums (with less of the melodic falsetto you're probably used to). The songs are somewhat more fast paced than in other albums (especially Keep it Together), and it's more like Sublime or Grateful Dead than the Guster you're probably used to.

But there are some really amazing songs (Parachute, Mona Lisa), so you should check this album out.

If you'd really like to get into Guster, I'd start with "Lost and Gone Forever" or "Goldfly."

Impressive.......2005-08-31

Guster was the lead band for John Mayer here in Green Bay. I took my daughter to the concert for getting straight A's. After Guster's second song started, I got up and ran out to buy the CD. We have been buying back albums since. Every one is good in it's own way. There is definite evolution of this band over the years. The earlier albums are just as pleasing as the recent releases. My younger daughter loves it as well. Considering I'm in my 40's and my kids in thier teens, it is great to be able to buy music that everyone wants to listen to! Bravo Guster!

Me Gusta Guster!.......2005-07-09

Guster is one of my favorite bands. Their music is a powerful blend of folk, rock, and personality. The lyrics that they muster are nothing short of brilliant, with songs that will haunt you throughout the day. From the first time that I played them in Goldeneye (for N64) and won, I was hooked. They played at my college before they hit it big and figuratively tore the roof off the packed gymnasium. It was a sight for the musical eye.

Being a fan, I have picked up their newer albums, but never quite diving deep into their early work. So, on a whim, I decided to pick up their "first" label album, "Parachute". For those enormous Guster fans, you will not be disappointed, for those just looking to join the music of this band for the first time; I would wait on this album. While it carries my favorite of their songs, "Mona Lisa", this is a very rough and new outing for them. You can tell from their jumpy vocals, diminished sound quality, and scattered themes that this was their first album in the "mainstream" music world. Don't worry ... I still loved it.

There was something about this album that I just immediately latched myself onto. I listened to Parachute consecutively three times while we traveled and never grew weary of it. This is an amateur album, but we all need to start somewhere. If you are a fan of this group you will see them grow and develop over time. You will witness the birth of a strong, unified band that loves their profession and honestly ... is in it for the music. I saw them perform in front of John Mayer several summers ago and this group literally stole the spotlight from the featured Mayer. I wanted more Guster.

Overall, I say try this album out. Whether you like it or not, it is pure, uncut Guster in their greatest form. I loved it and fans of the music will as well. For those just starting out on their music, may I suggest their album Lost and Gone Forever, a bold and powerful choice.

One of the Best CD's in the World.......2004-06-08

This CD is so awesome that it is hard to find words to describe it. Even though it was the first album Guster released, it was the last one I listened to all of the way through. It is really hard to choose my favorite Guster album, but I feel this may be it. I'm not going to use pretentious musical terms to describe Parachute. Instead I will simply say, this CD will dry your tears and make you remember why you want to live.

A great double set and tremendous value.......2003-04-21

In Love & Adore, Parachute Band introduces more 'produced' tracks than in their previous albums and unveils an increasingly polished sound. The anthemic songs by Andrew Ulugia, Louis Collins, and the Huiruas sparkle as the true gems...although Chris DeJong's catchy 'Love Ya' WILL keep you hitting the repeat button!

Run, don't walk, to get their 2000 release, 'Amazing' (rightly named), where the band ARRIVES at the top of their inspiration/craft. (Amazon doesn't have it, but it can be found.)

Love and Adore.......2002-04-25

You could select any of the songs on this 2CD album and not go wrong. The Parachute Band are "the absolute best" at praising and worshipping. I take them with me into my closet to help me reach my Lord and Savior. They assist me in calling out to Him! Please Walk Beside Me touches the humility of prayer. I have never heard the "Parachute Band" do anything, I didn't like. Their songs grow on you and in you!

This album is packed with great songs of praise to God! What I like most about the Parachute Band is that they have such a wide range of music styles on their albums. From contemporary to gospel to even some alternative thrown in, this album will certainly get you closer to God every time you listen to it! I highly recommend this one!!!

Recently saw this band live. They are excellent. This live album returned right where I was the night I saw them and the tears still stream.

I strongly recommend. Shout, All The Earth, and Complete are some of the best live worship I have ever heard. If you get a chance to see in person...don't walk...RUN...to get tickets. God Bless

waited for this album for 3 months.......2005-10-25

The first time I heard "All the Earth" on the radio here in LA, I tried to find the album online for a few months. Finally, I found it on Amazon and waited another month for it to arrive. Although "All the Earth" here on the album is slightly different from the radio version, it's still a great worship song. I like most of the ballads and praise choruses on this album; the alterative songs are a bit different from what I usually listen to. Overall, it's a great praise and worship album...worth the wait!

This CD is "Amazing"! The first time I listened to this CD, I fell hook, line, and sinker. One of the greatest praise and worship CDs out there. It's a shame that the bands CDs are not readily available in stores here in the US. If you like praise & worship songs, definitely give this one a try. You won't regret it.

Let me be the first. My husband and I have played this
CD over and over and over. It just gets better. There isn't a bad track on it. These are all songs that come from the heart of a group with a heart for worship. This was the first CD we purchased by Parachute band and have bought all they have released so far. "Amazing" is by far the best. Just as the title states, it truly is AMAZING!

Great Music!.......2001-01-19

This Parachute Express CD comes in a very close second to "Happy To Be Here" (also by Parachute Express) as my 5 1/2 year old daughter's favorite CD. The songs are very singable and full of energy. She loves to dance and march around with most of the songs. She finds Doo-Wacka-Doo and Bye-Bye Pizza Pie very funny, and will sometimes ask me to play the same song 4 or 5 times in a row. All in all this is a fun CD that I enjoy listening to also.

I have been a fan from the start but I dropped by the way and forgot the Things but this cd is a surprise it was not released over here in the 70s so we missed out this is a classic a must for Preety things fans. go get it !

This is an excellent tape. The tunes are innovative and fun to listen to. I have used the tune "When I Build my House" in my music curriculum as I teach music to pre-school students, ages two to five. The children loved this song and so did the teachers.

My children sing these songs all the time and they are ages 3 and 6. It is a great tape for the car.

My son's preschool teacher heard this tape. She loved it so much that she has asked me to purchase the tape for her classroom. We both love the style of music and the cleverness of the lyrics.
