Album Description

2003 remastered reissue of their third album. It was originally released on Island Records in 1969, but the band were dropped by the label & the album had a very limited release on Pye in the UK. 'To Markos III' features 'Love Suite' which was heavily sampled by DJ Shadow for his international hit 'Stem' from his Mo Wax debut 'Endtroducing'. 10 tracks & 8-page booklet with extensive liner notes. Universal Island. 2003.

Nirvana's Thrid Album was Originally Recorded for Release on Island Records in 1969, but the Band were Dropped by the Label and the Album Had a Very Limited Release on Pye in the UK. "to Markos Iii" features "Love Suite" which was Heavily Sampled by DJ Shadow for his Intrumental Hit "Stem" from his Mo Wax Debut "Endroducing".

Great music, terrible avarice.......2004-05-28

Well, what can be said about this CD? That it's brilliant, turn of the 60s/70s pop/rock that was years ahead of its time? That the music here has arguably only ever been equalled by its two predecessors? That following this album's original release the band split up, seemingly beacsue they had nowhere left to go? Well you can say that and lots more, BUT I'm gonna say that this is the third time in less than 10 years that this exact same CD has been repackaged, renamed and re-released as though it's something completely different. And all the songs were also included in the "Chemistry" box set, another greed-fuelled CD set. If you don't already own this in one of its various earlier incarnations, I'd suggest buying it immediately, as this time we lose the bonus tracks and the totally similar "remixed" versions, but get a nice booklet, and a "digitally remastered" take that isn't entirely dissimilar to what has gone before. Here's to the next repackaged version of this album in 2 years' time......
