If you came anywhere within earshot of country radio in 2002, you'll immediately recognize the lead cut on this soundtrack, Keith Urban's chart-topping "Somebody Like You," presented here in a pop remix that doesn't diminish the original's catchiness. The rest of this set is routine but well-selected romantic comedy fare: a couple of oldies ("You're So Vain," "Let's Stay Together"); modern rock standards by Sixpence None the Richer and Gin Blossoms; a George Thorogood track, undoubtedly for the ubiquitous rowdy bar scene. But the real treats here come out of left field, in the form of "Good Day," a peppy, Dave Matthews-style sing-along from Bay Area faves Luce, and Fisher's dreamy, trip-hop rendition of Nat "King" Cole's "L.O.V.E." Aside from two bland contributions by Canadian balladeer Chantal Kreviazak, the set of songs showcased on 10 Days deserves to hang out in the CD player much longer than that. --Kurt B. Reighley

4 out of 5 stars Fun Soundtrack from a Fun Movie.......2007-04-19

I really love this soundtrack. It makes a great companion for my spring days in my convertible. My favorite is Follow You Down by Gin Blossoms, but I like almost all of the songs (except for the one by Luce).

5 out of 5 stars Can't put it down.......2007-03-08

As another reviewer said. This may be the easiest CD to wear out in 10 days.

5 out of 5 stars Great movie, great music!.......2007-01-09

My daughter & I absolutely loved this movie, so I bought the soundtrack for her as a gift. We both love it! I have always enjoyed movie soundtracks, since you get a nice mix of artists...but this one has the perfect balance of old and new music. The 2 new songs performed by Chantal Kreviazuk are a terrific fit with old classics by Carly Simon and Al Green. It's definitely a CD to listen to all the way through...no skipping on this one!

5 out of 5 stars Great CD.......2006-03-15

Fun music to listen to when on a long trip. Great mixture of music.

4 out of 5 stars Amazon Critics Suck.......2005-12-17

All of the songs on this CD are great but the Amazon reviewer made the stupidest remark about Chantal - she had the most moving songs here and is truly a hidden star.

Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante's third solo album isn't far removed from a demo. Taking the idea of a solo album literally, Frusciante is responsible for everything here, playing guitar over drum machines and adding occasional keyboards to the 15 songs, à la Bill Callahan's excellent Smog. The opener "Going Inside" offers promise that To Record will be an entertaining ride thanks to Frusciante's characteristically incandescent fretwork. The project is a little one-dimensional, however, hampered as it is by Frusciante's sub-J. Mascis yelp. --Mike Pattenden

5 out of 5 stars really great album.......2006-08-07

ok firts off, Id like to say one thing. this is my favorite john frusciante album except for the one that was released only on his website, which happens to be a collection of B sides from this album ( i dont know what happened that the best stuff was the B sides, but it did). Every song on here is beautiful, especially the instrumentals, not that i dont like his voice, i LOVE it but the instrumentals are stunning!
the best songs are probably remain, ramparts, murderers, invisible movement, and in rime

4 out of 5 stars John Re-born.......2006-07-24

I, like most people, started listening to John Frusciante because Im a huge Red Hot Chili Peppers fan. But what I found was something even more amazing than the chili peppers.
This is John's first 'clean' solo album, after battling heroin addiction for many years. And the result is a much more lyrically improved effort from his past recordings. The album is very basic, with just johns guitar and words recorded over the top of a drum machine with a little bit of bass thrown in, it sounds very much like a demo. But the quality is once again in the guitar playing, it is clear why the chili's missed him for all those years.
Standout tracks for me are Wind up Space, Remain, Fallout, Murderers and Invisible movement.
Buy this album, you wont regert it...And thanks to amazon, as Johns work is almost impossible to get in Australia.

1 out of 5 stars I Wish I Could Return This CD.......2006-04-17

A collection of forgettable songs made unbearable by the singing. Don't buy this CD. It's uninspired music sung by someone with an unpleasant voice.

Frusciante should emulate Beck and Santana, who usually follow Zappa's good advice: "Shut up and Play Your Guitar."

I like Frusciante's guitar playing elsewhere and that's what I bought this CD for. The guitar playing here isn't very good either. The average rating of this CD of 4-stars is utterly puzzling to me. A matter of taste indeed, but what is the matter with taste is more to the point.

4 out of 5 stars A Very Solid CD from Frusciante.......2006-02-22

The first CD i listened to from John Frusciante was "Shadows Collide With People" a couple years back. I personally love that CD, but "How to Record Water For Only 10 Days" is a very good record too, even if it doesn't live up to the more recent material. John Frusciante's lyrics are very profound and abstract, which I personally enjoy the most out of good music. Above his superior guitar playing, Frusciante is a true poet. Favorite tracks: "Going Inside", "Wind Up Space", "The First Season", "Saturation."

5 out of 5 stars TO BE.......2006-02-07

This is one of the most beautiful honest albums I have ever heard.
There is something truly magical about John Frusciante's music. Either you really get it or you dont. But do give it a try..

A previous independent release and two tours with Caedmon's Call have gained Bebo Norman a notable fan base. His first major-label release, Ten Thousand Days blends the reflection of a journal entry, the images of a poet, and the experiences of one who embraces all that comes his way. This upbeat folk album spotlights Norman's journey as he grapples with the important issues of life in order to live more faithfully. Throughout the project, Bebo's vocal and lyrical style carries an element of quietness that comes from his innermost self. The music has a spacious feel, but is not lacking in richness. Every tone, rhythm, and harmony has been tastefully chosen to create a purposeful sound. Its unobtrusive nature gently beckons the listener, making it a good fit in any setting. --Israel Button

5 out of 5 stars Rebirth of CD!!!.......2006-11-07

I have just recently been going through my old CD's and came across this jewel. I totally forgot how much raw and powerful emotions each song can produce. Each song gives an honest glimpse into the life and faith of Bebo Norman, and one that can match many others will the same views. You will not find another CD out there like it. It is one of my all time favorites and for very good reason. Don't let this CD go another day without it in your collection.

5 out of 5 stars Breathtaking..........2003-08-12

I was introduced to Bebo Norman's music only a short time ago and the style and passion really do take your breath away. Here is a singer whose every words carve themselves onto your heart. They are unforgetable, they are genuine and they are stunning. His voice is soulful and gentle, with an incredible power that leaves you captivated. HIs words are poetic, and honest, and his music etches itself deep into your soul. You know, when you listen to him, that he really lives and breathes the love of the Lord God.

Quite stunning.

5 out of 5 stars Another favorite artist.......2003-04-18

Bebo has my heart. A little bluesy, a little folk, a large measure of rock and pop, spin and enjoy! The emotion in his voice is incredible. The pictures he paints bring so much meaning to topics we've all grown too used to hearing. Another contemporary Christian artist worth hearing! He gets better with every album.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful, simple, accessible.......2003-03-16

I first heard Bebo Norman during last year's Third Day tour; I ordered two of his CDs the day after the concert. This recording remains my favorite, for its richness and its diversity and its marvelous "listenability".

Friends of mine who are fond of CCM often criticize Bebo for what they regard as the simplicity of his lyrics; compared to those of Jennifer Knapp or a Caedmon's Call, the words to a Bebo song are straightforward. But on clever and powerful songs like the sublime "The Hammer Holds", Bebo crafts a simple, tuneful, and deeply resonant meditation on God's sovereignty through the story of a nail that will, in due course, pierce the side of Christ. I saw many tears being wiped away when Bebo sang that live in Los Angeles a year ago; I have wiped away a few of my own while listening to that particular track.

As I went through my recent and painful divorce, this was the CD that brought me the most reassurance. In particular, the lovely "Where the Angels Sleep" and the humble "In Your Hands" brought me tremendous comfort. Perhaps these are not the most sophisticated songs I could have been listening to, but in a time of great spiritual and emotional pain we tend to seek out the familiar, the comforting, and the beautiful. This CD has become all three of these for me, and I will continue to treasure it.

5 out of 5 stars I'm hooked..........2003-03-01

I picked this CD up after I saw Bebo opening for Third Day on their Come Together tour. I listened to the CD on the way home from the store and I just couldn't stop. Songs like "Walk Down This Mountain" and "Stand" are great inspirational songs, and songs like "A Page Is Turned" and "Deeper Still" draw on emotions that everyone can relate with. Probably one of my favorite songs of all time is "The Hammer Holds." The imagery and symbolism in this song matches that of any other songwriter ever in my opinion. I'd reccomend this CD to anyone with ears.

3 out of 5 stars Eh, It's Okay.......2007-04-24

For those that purchase soundtrack collages to have a variety of songs and themes, then this is good for you. Unfortunately, these tracks didn't have the signature Erich Kunzel version of the songs as he had on other soundtrack mix CDs. It was more like just that, a mix CD of different soundtracks and scores. However, it was a good buy in the fact that the tracks chosen had excellent sound quality and a sense of harmony.

5 out of 5 stars Better than the First Volume.......2005-08-04

There is a great collection of music to be found here. There are many great renditions. The "2001, a Space Odyssey Fanfare" was outstanding. "Book of Days" from "Far and Away" had a very unique approach. I recommend this one deeply, oh yes I do, by far and away!

5 out of 5 stars An Interesting and Gratifying Volume 2.......2005-06-17

Erich Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops' treatment of film scores on this second tribute to Hollywood are somewhat more pleasing than Volume I. The selections are more intriguing and demonstrate a more positive approach to film scores and their value as true musical art forms. There is quite a diverse representation of music here. The incredibly powerful main title to MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY (Bronislaw Kaper) juxtaposed with the bittersweet and romantic love theme to SPARTACUS (Alex North) and the intimately tender love theme to FRIENDLY PERSUASION (Dimitri Tiomkin) are masterfully achieved. I have never been that enamored with this CD's 20-bit digital recording but it has grown on me. Still, I highly recommend and enjoy this CD.

5 out of 5 stars Sheila from Savannah, Georgia.......2005-01-15

I love this cd. It is the greatest. Moonglow and Midnight Cowboy are my favorites.

5 out of 5 stars A great album.......2001-01-28

Erich Kunzel, once again comes through with another terrific album of movie music. On this album you will find preludes, themes and main title music from some of Hollywood's most loved movies. Films from as early as 1936's "Modern Times", through to 1992's "Far and Away", are represented here. The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra are as wonderful as ever, and the 20-bit digital sound system makes for unequalled sound quality. A pleasing highlight for me, is the wonderful "Moonglow" which starts off track 5. The jazz trio of piano, bass and drums eventually is joined by the orchestra for the theme from "Picnic". Then we have the beautiful waltz from "Around the world in eighty days". With the wonderful accordion solo, you can imagine being on a merry-go-round. This is truly a beautiful album...a must for lovers of orcestral music.

5 out of 5 stars Soothing sounds of Led Zeppelin..........2005-03-01

Before I write my review, I thought you would like to know that I have not had a chance to listen to "Kashmir: The Symphonic Led Zeppelin". Keep that in mind if you are trying to decide between the two.

I think I would consider myself an average Led Zeppelin fan. I appreciate their music, and I listen to them every so often. I'm not one of the hardcore Zeppelin fans, so you might not appreciate this tribute as much as I do. I would have to say that this tribute is very well done, and a lot of time and effort was put into making it. The strings are pretty much in sync with the original songs, and just a few seconds into the song, you'll be able to tell what it is. I'm not going to go through a list of songs and tell you what I think of them, but I will say that I think the best one is "Ten Years Gone." This album - or albums, I should say - are great if you're looking for a soothing and relaxing version of some of the great Led Zeppelin songs. Though, I must say that you will only appreciate the tribute if you know the songs themselves, because if you don't then the song just might get repetetive. I'm a fan of the whole String Quartet Tribute thing, and I'd have to say that this is one of the best ones I've heard so far.

2 out of 5 stars Not my cup of tea.......2003-11-18

For some reason this CD just sounded really corney to me. I was really dissapointed. Your opinion may differ but I would recommend that if you are looking for a classical Zeppelin CD you get Kashmir instead. It is cheaper and shines a new light on some awsome songs rather than butchering them.

4 out of 5 stars Finally, Led Zeppelin Done Well in Strings........2003-02-20

A few of the selections are questionable for arrangment for a string section. I mean, Whole Lotta Love? Dazed and Confused? Give me a break. They could have replaced those poor choices with a number of other possibilities.

Nevertheless, it is the first attempt of it's kind, and the songs that are suitable are gorgeously performed.

Led Zeppelin's gifts for creating melodies and knowledge of music theory become more obvious in these classical performances.

It's a double CD so it has lots of songs!
