About the Artist
Screaming Monkey Boner fills an entire genre of music by themselves. One that they created and mastered from the ground up. Mixing elements of techno and electronic music with a distinct style of funky, geeky, quirk-rock, and amping it up to a heavy metal level of balls out, in-your-face ferocity. Their message is thought provoking, socially minded, politically malcontent, and certain to delight some and offend others. Their live show is tight, seamless, colorful and filled with explosive energy. One could choose to mosh, and dance, and sing along to the catchy tunes during any given song.

Product Description
The whole ball of wax has now been captured, polished, and fine tuned on SMB's latest full length album "The Process of Assimilation". Each song is a completely different experience from the last, yet the entire record flows together like the mighty Mississippi. It is filled with amazing production while maintaining the bands bizzare intensity.

Imagine Dog Fashion Disco, System of a Down, and American Head Charge forming some kind of super group and you have a vague idea what Screaming Monkey Boner sounds like. As soon as you hear the primus-esque intro track (delaying the inevitable) you know you're in for one hell of a ride and the subsequent track (the process of assimilation) does not leave you disappointed in the least. Very jazz driven bass lines with metal guitars and drums, counterbalanced by some of the best keytar work and weirdest serj tankian like vocals make one of the most unique overall sounds. The vocal range on here is astounding from basic singing to half falsetto screeching to nu-metal growling, you are kept guessing as to where you're going to be taken next. Goofy but relevant lyrics and just generally awesome writing/engineering make this album an absolute must have. Best track is probably "watch me die"

5 out of 5 stars SMB: An amazing band that will warp your mind!.......2005-06-03

Although I have a great deal of respect for pure musical songwriting, I also have an enormous amount of love for the theatricality and showmanship of a band with character. Screaming Monkey Boner has a great deal of both musical chops and the ability to scare your parents through a carefully coordinated aesthetic attack. The band's sonic assault will crush your eardrums from the very beginning and leave you screaming for more, then turn around and pull out a nifty accordion solo, just to see if you're paying attention. This is the strongest attribute Screaming Monkey Boner has going for them: They are not willing to do whatever the record industry tells them will sell, these boys are in it to rock and destroy peoples' notions of what a metal band should be. Pulling heavily from industrial, mostly dealing with the idea of samples and programmed intros to songs, SMB quickly kicks into their trademark heavy sound and doesn't look back. On songs like "Boot," "Smash TV" and "Opinionation" they veer close to Slipknot territory with an unbelievable roar leading the band over some seriously dark and heavy terrain, interspersed with some strange and fun electronic moments, apparently added for flavor. The wonderful "The End... Tis' Rising in Squares" not only blows the listener away with some seriously powerful rock riffage, but also turns out to be quite hilarious, partially functioning as a cover of the "Tetris" theme music! "Watch Me Die" has the underpinnings of swing music, while echoes of other weird and interesting bands like Mindless Self Indulgence are found throughout the album as well. This is especially apparent on the wonderfully irreverent "Gloryhole," lending it the feel of a demented circus where all the clowns have fangs and carry guitars. Once you're locked into the ride that is SMB, you can't get out until it's over, and if you throw up, it's your problem, not theirs, but it feels so good to indulge in this guilty pleasure that you'll ride again and again. Highly recommended to metal, industrial and weird music fans everywhere.

4 out of 5 stars Gloryhole!.......2005-04-24

i saw this band live last night at an MSI/Crossbreed show in Tampa. I missed part of their act put i saw a few songs and they put on an awesome show so i decided to buy the cd at the show. from what i remember and i may be wrong but heres what i think they played. ZYQ9, The End...Tis Rising In Squares, Welcome to the Kingdom of Fear, Watch Me Die, and Gloryhole. Gloryhole is my favorite. i got mine for only $10 but i think its like $15 on here. still, buy it anyway its spasmatic like MSI but not quite as fast and has a very groove to it. the put in alot of sample from like classic nitendo games in it too, which is just cool. they have a sound of their own. go buy it, a very awesome cd and these should get some attention cuz they have something special.

4 out of 5 stars Plastic Apes and Rubber Chicken Parts.......2005-02-28

Dude, you have to check out this cool band... I heard them four years ago when they played in North Korea for a charity banquet in Seoul benefiting the people of Tibet, whose village had been taken over by Hitler's fascist third reich just 20 years earlier. These people were starving and had blood on their knees and it was kind of gross. But when SMB played their souls out on the very stage once used for American Bandstand Korean Style, I knew that their hearts were bleeding too.... for the people of the small village of Tibet. The Process of Assimilation includes likes 800 tracks which all have videos that can be seen on Carson Daly's program TRL on VH1. GO buy this CD and then vote for them on TRL... Rev. John, Owen, Cass, and Bryan will appreciate it... and you might even get to hear Carson Daly's voice on the phone... Apparently Carson frequently hangs out with SMB in their hometown of Mexico City, not the part that's in Mexico, but the part that's in California... that's the only real Mexico City fools. CALIFORNIA! I also hear rumors of SMB playing a duet with Carlos Santana some time before that guy dies... in Mexico City as well. Carson won't be there though, he's got other VH1 stuff to do. BUY THE ALBUM!!
