One Of Their Best.......2006-10-10
This is without a doubt my favorite O.C. Supertones album. And I believe it to be their best. one of the things that seperate these guys from alot of other bands out their that their album songs are great. But if you have seen these guys live they are even better. That is a mark of a truly great band. And they are Christian so you know that they are going to be clean. They are incredibly goofy in their songs and concerts. lol. I mean they bring a surfboard to their concerts and go crowd surfing that is hilarious. They have crazy stage antics. running around doing the first thing that comes to mind. It's like an ADD convention with lots of great music.
But Anyway about this album. This is without a doubt in my mind the O.C. Supertones' best album. It is one of the very few album's that I have that I can put in without skipping any tracks. There is not one bad song on this album. It really is a thing of beauty. When you can just sit back and listen to great christian music. It makes you feel great.
This is a great album to have if you are starting to get into the O.C. Supertones this is the one for you. I highly recommend it to anyone. Whether you're just getting into these guys. Or you're a long time fan. Or even if you are a music fan or obsesser as I like to call myself. This is a great piece to have. Buy It Today!
Great cd. A true ska favorite.......2006-06-16
Amazing album. I've been listening to the Supertones since their roots. This is a true third wave ska album. It's more rocky than poppy like five iron frenzy(r.i.p.), but definately different than poopy third wave ska like No Doubt). If you like this album (which you will!) check out The Isrealites, Plankeye, Fanmail, Five Iron Frenzy, The Mighty, Mighty Bosstones, The Insyderz, The Skatalites, Tastysnax, The W's(more swingy), and Ghoti Hook.
Ha ha!.......2004-06-03
Hey, wanna buy a copy of this waste of polycarbonate? Buck fifty in the used listings! Bwahahahahaaa! Pretty soon it'll be one cent like the listings for Hanson CDs.
If you like ska, get into the Specials, Elvis Costello, first-wave Jamaican ska, rocksteady etc. This is the CHAFF, duders. Get a little taste.
(See? I like ska! Pbttttt!)
Edit 9/23/06: Shpank me!
haters are morons..........2004-03-06
first, yes 3rd wave ska was a flash in the pan....SO WAS THE FIRST AND SECOND WAVE AS WELL!!! idiots. the first wave (late 50s, jamaica) lasted like 5 years. and the second wave (late 70s, UK) lasted liek 5 years as well. the third wave (mid-late 90s, USA) lasted a good 4-5 years. each wave with a 20 year gap between. we'll see what happenes in 2015 when the 4th wave comes. ska has always been pressent, the "waves" just indicate when it got HUGELY popular. this cd is probably the single greatest ska cd composed. period.
Still Good Years Later.......2004-01-07
I just can't get enough of this CD. Every tune on here is good. Whereas the later CD's took a few listenings to appreciate them, this one was a keeper from the first time through it. Not as heavy as Insyderz, but it just seems to work better than Five Iron Frenzy IMHO.

The delusional Jay ("a pimped-out Jedi knight," as Bloodhound Gang's "Jackass" has it) and ironic, semi-wise Silent Bob finally get their own Kevin Smith feature and accompanying soundtrack album. A stack of jokingly aggressive, self-deprecating tunes by the Bloodhounds, Stroke 9, and Marcy Playground are augmented by straight-faced rawk from across the spectrum (Steppenwolf, Bon Jovi, PJ Harvey) and a true pick-to-click in Afroman's hilariously blunted hip-hop testament "Because I Got High." Add more than a dozen film sound bites--Jay's recollection of Good Will Hunting as that "movie with a Mork from Ork in it," his electro-goofy "Jay's Rap 2001," and some prime Chris Rock moments among them--and the result is a CD made to order for fans of the dynamic duo. --Rickey Wright

Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back.......2006-08-17
This is one of my favorite movies within the collection of Jay & Silent Bob. It is hilarious. Had me on the floor laughing. This is a must see, must own movie.
For Jay and Silent Bob fans only!.......2005-01-26
I'm a huge Jay and Silent Bob fan (way after the time though, I'm only 17). I'm not really your typical fan either. I'm a straight-A student, ect., ect., but I just can't get enough of these two! Who doesn't appriciate a bit of sick, and usually stupid humor? Actually, my whole family are Kevin Smith fans- Brother, Step-Dad, even Mom. My point is, you'd be surprised how many people love watching honry Jay and sweet, slient Bob in movies.
As far as the movie goes, I wasn't too impressed by it. It was enjoyable, but I guess I just had really high expectations from Kevin Smith. This isn't a review of the movie so...
The CD- very enjoyable! It has a lot of fun soundbites that, yes, bring you right back to memorable movie moments, and lots of fun songs to go with it. But I would only suggest this to majoy Jay and Bob fans; most others will find it... well, stupid. Also, I usually hate the explicit lyrics labels, but, yeah, it fits this time.
Just one last note- Jay's Rap was my favorite! :) Of couse, that is somewhat of a bad thing- I'm constantly getting it stuck in my head and accidently singing it. :P
"What the F*** is the internet"?.......2003-10-27
This soundtrack pretty much follows the same formula as the "Mallrats" cd, soundbite-song-soundbite-song, but the music is more eclectic. There's numerous other soundtracks I wish did that, like "Dumb and Dumber" and "Northern Exposure". Anyway, The music is as diverse as "PJ Harvey", "Bon Jovi", and "Afroman". Not every song is a winner, but most fit. The big plus though is hearing "Jay", "Will Ferrell", and "Chris Rock" between tracks. It will take you right back to the movie, along with some "doobie snacks".

Customer Reviews:
A nice sounding recording with many pictures.......2005-01-06
I have to admit that I was so psyched up to get this when I heard about it. I was lucky enough to finally see the Wildhearts here in American for the 1st time twice last year and couldn't wait to hear these discs. After the first listen though, I lost all my enthusiasm. Some of the older tracks are on here which is great for a long time fan like me but for some reason, the songs didn't jump out at me like their studio recordings. A stamp on the cover states, "100% Live" which I am to assume means no overdubs or fixing in the studio. The recordings and performances are adequate enough but that is the rub. I was looking for the greatness that I found in the live Japanese release "Tokyo Suits Me" a few years ago or the "Anarchic Airwaves" set from a few years earlier than that one. There are some great tunes on here, don't get me wrong. I will buy anything they put out that contains the songs Greetings From Sh*tsville, Caffeine Bomb, Nita Nitro (my all-time Fave), Suckerpunch, Turning American, My Baby Is A Headf*^k, Weekend, and Nothing Ever Changes But The Shoes. The live version of Cheers is included but doesn't improve on the studio version. These guys played Caprice at both shows in Pittsburgh and I just wondered why. It is on here as well. A few of their B side songs are included in the set which could have been improved with other CD album songs instead. There are 4 videos listed on disc 1 but I was unable to access them so a waste for me. Many, many pictures in the booklet but they are so small that you almost need a magnifying glass. Still a solid 4 because of the songs and The Wildhearts being back together again (minus Danny). I just expected something more from these guys. Their studio records are just so addicting. Check them out if you haven't already. Not one track from their "Endless, Nameless" CD is on here which I was surprised by. Some of those songs need to be heard in a live environment removed from that horrible mix. Come to think of it, nothing from "Fishing for Luckies" is on here either. I am glad that the in between song Ginger babble was kept to a minimum here, he basically begged our crowd to "buy the new CD" between every song which made him look really pathetic at the Pittsburgh shows.

Fine reissue of a classic set.......2006-05-24
Think about the stupidest, most formulaic Hollywood movies you can think of: cheesy action pictures, fluffy, unfunny comedies, big but stiff epics. Now imagine that one of the greatest living composers was working in Hollywood, turning out astonishing, hauntingly beautiful and stirring musical scores for these throwaway movies. That's what you get with this set: music Henry Purcell composed for some two dozen often utterly forgettable plays (trust me--I've read a number of them!) Occasionally, when he teams up with a playwright worthy of his stature, such as John Dryden, Aphra Behn, or William Congreve, the results are even better, but for the most part you can enjoy the music here without knowing anything about the original plays.
This set originally appeared as separate LPs in the 70s and 80s, and has been long out of print. That's a pity, since Purcell spent a good deal of his short professional life in the theatre, either writing the incidental music contained on these CDs, or the music for his larger works, the semi-operas (King Arthur, The Fairy Queen, and the like). Almost all of these works are enjoyable gems; certainly, they represent a pinnacle of English 17th century music. Purcell had a genius for spinning musical gold out of the most leaden lyrics (check out his Odes and Welcome Songs on Hyperion if you don't believe me), and he does the same with the song texts in these plays.
Hogwood and the AAM offer clean, listenable performances, and the sound on these old analog discs has been cleaned up and brightened--although they were pretty good, even in the late 70s. As with most Hogwood, emotional extremes are kept to a minimum, so the "otherworldly" nature of late 17th century music, so often emphasised in more recent Baroque performances, doesn't come across here. It would be interesting to see what a group like The King's Consort would do with this music, but this set fills the major gap in the Purcell canon quite nicely.
My only beef with the reissue, as with many reissues, is that the liner notes are rather thin for a 6-cd set--the lyrics to the songs, for example, are especially missed. Still, it's a worthwhile set, and a must for fans of Purcell, English Baroque music, or anyone who just wants to experience a taste of the last days of the Restoration stage.

And on that note, we cue the music........2002-05-25
This is an amazing soundtrack with almost all the cues from the flick. It can be silly with Jay's paranoia about a possible Planet of the Apes to inspirational when Jay has a pow wow with his guardian angel. Venable should leave the Power Puff Girls and do movies!
Awesome Cd.......2001-11-30
This Cd was extremely hilarious and very fun-loving. Kevin Smith is great and the CD is really cool. It's just a bunch of hip songs put together and great to listen to while driving ncie and fast. GREAT CD. Even my mom likes it!
"going no-where slacker score...doesn't cut it".......2001-10-13
This is the only score by James L. Venable, if there is another it hasn't surfaced to my knowledge...the score is slightly better than the film, but not by much.
Writer/director Kevin Smith once again comes up with a messy script, nothing about the story-line comes together...retarded and simply in bad taste...the score has twenty-eight cues going no-where, much like the screenplay.
I'm being kind, when giving this three stars, more like two and a half...wish this composer would choose better projects to write for, but with a little luck, his next gig maybe "The Mummy Returns Once Again"!
Total Time: 39:58 on 28 Tracks ~ Varese Sarabande 302-066-277-2 ~ (2001)
Alright, So Maybe I'm Being Generous.......2001-09-26
This CD is mostly for those types who are WAAAAAY too into Kevin Smith's films (and, among Kevin's fans, is there any other type?) If you're looking for the songs that were used in the movie, this isn't quite the disc you're looking for. However, there is some fun stuff on this disc. Some of the techno tracks (from the faux-Charlie's-Angels-girls in the movie) will have you rockin', but mostly it is a showcase of the work that James Venable has done on the movie. Venable has done some work before with Kevin Smith, as well as the theme from some show about some power poof girls or something. Its an interesting sound, and has a few numbers that rank high on the giggle-factor. However, this CD is mostly for those few and far-between who were admiring the musical goings-on during Jay and Silent Bob's onscreen capers. This will not include most of those who may be looking over this CD. But, for a few, it might be worth having a look, and if the price is right for you, give it a chance. Its not John Williams or Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, but it has merit of its own.
