4 out of 5 stars "The DFA took my Baby Away".......2005-06-22

The DFA are James Murphy and Tim Goldsworthy. Officially they are the coolest producers, have the coolest roster and have the coolest sounds. The proof is here in this lovingly compiled 3-CD boxset. Beware though, "Compilation #2" is not just a label sampler. It is a statement of the music of today and tomorrow.
You'll soon figure this out during the first track, `Casual Friday' by Black Leotard Front. It starts out all serious, then all of a sudden it descends into people speaking French like a teach yourself cassette. You just know that there is greatness in mixing the sublime with the ridiculous. Elsewhere in this generous offering we get: The Slits-y `Punk of Joy', The electronically tribal (dont ask) `Soundscapes of Black Dice' and the ancestors of the sound of the DFA, Liquid Liquid make an appearance with `Bellhead' (and trust me they still know how to make a bodypopping tune). The Rapture also contribute a rare (and schizophrenic) b-side `Alabama Chrome'. The amazing thing is that THESE ARE JUST THE FIRST TWO CDS!!!!!!!. The third has the majority of the previous tracks all rolled into one super quality mix.
Hopefully this is the future of music and music's future. Play it at your party and you'll make everyone all around the block jealous. This is not an accessory but a necessity!

5 out of 5 stars more dancepunk than one could want.......2004-12-16

I think the purpose behind simplifying dance music to the function of a single computer program is that it can still have a driving beat and keep the party going regardless, but when something really innovative and awesome comes in it blows your mind that much harder. The Rapture and Black Dice and LCD Soundsystem are that thing that blows your mind. There is such an incredible wealth of innovation and energy here. I have not yet listened all the way through, but the Rapture remixes are a testament to how great the songs were in the first place and the eye remix of Endless Happiness is just incredible. I would go ahead and buy this if I were you, there will inevitably be something you love and all of it will get you laid.

5 out of 5 stars get this.......2004-11-17

What a fantastic set. 3 disks of quality. There seems to be a bit more variety in this compared to the #1 compilation. It has everything you'd expect from these guys, but also some highly tripped out stuff I wasn't expecting. Go ahead and buy it, it's a good pick.

5 out of 5 stars If you are a Disco/Funk Fan.......2006-01-04

This was one of the best music purchases i've ever made. I am a large LCD soundsystem and The Juan Maclean fan. I had heard alot about the black dice and the rapture from other people and decide to order this to in hopes to find more electronica artists. Its spectacular. You need an open mind to enjoy some of the music, especially the black dice. I recommend it to anyone who is a fan of electronic/dance.
