5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Danish death metal in the vain of Fear Factory........2006-05-21

Illdisposed? Never heard of them! That was my initial reaction when I started noticing this release doing the rounds. That's why I'm so surprised to find that "1-800-Vindication" is the Danish band's 6th full-length album, with the first one being released in the early 90s. One spin of this baby though and I feel like I've been missing out for far too long. How could something this good stay underground for so long. I have an inkling that's all about to change.

Quite often albums need a few listens to get their claws in, but there are a few tracks on this album that are immensely enjoyable immediately. Comparisons are not all that easy to come up with, but I can certainly hear some Hypocrisy and also elements of Fear Factory. This is death metal filled with catchy melodies and riffs. It stays around the slow to mid-paced vicinity for the majority of its playing time, rarely testing the musician's speed capabilities. Illdisposed also make use of keyboards quite heavily without ever overpowering the all-important guitar work. I find this gives the music a nice depth and variety and always serves a purpose.

The vocalist Bo seems to have some sort of distortion added to his voice for a lot of the album. To be honest I think he is the weakest aspect of the band. Even though he tries his hand at growls, screams and clean vocals, they're never all that captivating. They're satisfactory, but not fantastic.

Ever since I first heard the album, I have had "I Believe in Me" and "Now We're History" stuck in my head. I find myself drawn back to the album time and time again so I can hear these great tracks. It's a shame then that the rest of the album doesn't live up to the standard set, as this would truly be a masterpiece if that were the case. Also, the band obviously have a comedic side to their nature as a song life "Jeff" would suggest and I don't feel this fits in entirely well with the rest of their image.

Nonetheless, this is a thoroughly enjoyable release that caught me by surprise and refuses to let go. I'll have to search down their previous album to find out whether they were always this good.

5 out of 5 stars The best Melodic Death Metal you can get anywhere!.......2005-12-11

Illdisposed simply crushes everyone else in the genre of Melodic Death Metal. Its really too bad that they dont distribute their albums in the USA anymore. It actually pisses me off because now I have to get online and order them for extra cash. But let me tell you that anything put out by these guys is definitly worth the extra dough...

Illdisposed isnt your average run-of-the-mill Death Metal or Melodeath band. No, not at all. Their music is so different from anything else in those two genres. The utilization of two different vocal stylings (one resembling a subwoofer, and the other an evil creature from the abyss) make them unique as well as their playing skills.

1-800-Vindication was hard for me to wait on, but it was worth it. The songs are heavy with great vocals and groovy riffs with great guitar work and solos. Once you start listening to this album you wont be able to stop. Its really too bad theres only 10 tracks on here. But hey, I guess too much of a good thing might just be a bad thing...(I dont think so in this case haha).

If you're a fan of Morbid Angel, Mnemic, Panzerchrist, Volbeat or Vader then you're destined to love Illdisposed! And if you like this album, dont forget to pick up their other albums including their newest 2006 release "Burn Me Wicked". Also note that if you get any albums from before "Theres Somthing Rotten...In the State of Denmark" that they are heavier and lean more to the all-out Death Metal side.

Illdisposed is the major league of death metal.
1-800 Vindication is one of their best efforts since the "Submit" album.
Hard, thrashy, and uncompromising death metal, a must-get to all metal fans.
Be sure to check out the songs "Dark" and "Still Sane" on this album.
