The Ultimate Who CD.......2004-03-24
For anyone who appriciates good quality music - this album is ideal. For Who fans it's perfect. Ive heard critisms that without Moon, the who have lost it - absolute nonsence if you ask me. Zak Starkey who has been drumming for the who sice '94 is bloody amazing! The ONLY person worthy of moon's stool! Townsend, although old now, is still fantastic, strumming riffs and really pelting his guitar. Daltry has been on better form but he can still pull it off. As for Entwistle, only one word - Amazing ( his solo in 5:15 prooves this. The show as a whole is excellent with an overal performance that seriously rocks. It just highlights that after so long together, The Who are still the best band ever! Both the DVD and CD are worth buying.
The ultimate of all CD's/DVD's.
The original recording was good but this is astounding !!!!.......2004-02-21
Having purchased the original Steamhammer recording when it was first released, I didn't think that anything could top the quality of the original disc, live recordings being what they can be. Often times the sound is muddy or unbalanced or the crowd noise is beefed way too high in the mix. Well, believe me when I tell you that the SACD Hybrid Multi-Channel version completely blows it away. Everything is pristeenly clean and clear with no break ups at any level that I played it at! Pete's guitar (power chords and all) were clear and (unwanted) distortion-free. John's bass was thunderous yet very clear and solid and Zak's drums and cymbals were perfect yet none of the aforementioned instuments got in the way of Roger's vocals. Personally, I wish more cd's were available in this format as it buries the sound quality of a standard cd. If only the prices of SACD discs were more reasonable. Aside from that shortcoming, I recommend this disc wholeheartedly.

The Who wrapped up their 2000 World Tour--possibly their final wave of the Union Jack hankie now that John Entwhistle has died--with this red-carpet Teenage Cancer Trust charity shindig at the Royal Albert Hall. Time has taken its toll on some of the Who's more splenetic sensibilities; there are times when Roger Daltrey sounds too seasoned and contented to muster much in the way of vocal vitriol. But the old grumblers can still sound enthusiastically cross. While few live albums rival Live at Leeds for impelling urgency, Live at the Royal Albert Hall has added curiosity value by virtue of the contributions from a slew of younger and famous devotees, including Eddie Vedder, Paul Weller, Bryan Adams, Noel Gallagher, Kelly Jones, and Kennedy. Not to be upstaged by younger bucks, the Who sound positively regal on "Won't Get Fooled Again" and as feral as rutting tigers on "My Generation." --Kevin Maidment

Customer Reviews:
Great Performance.......2007-01-28
I already own the Live at the Royal Hall DVD which is a great DVD to own.
This CD package includes a bonus disc of unreleased Who material which was performed later that includes Young Man Blues, Summertime Blues, I Do Even Know Myself and I'm Free. In addition, the original CD also has a great performance bt Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam from the Who's Next Album Getting in Tune. In addition, it has another song Mary Ann with The Shaky Hand. I have converted this performance to MP3 files in order that I can listen to it on my IPOD. In addition, this CD/DVD has probably one of John Entwistle's last performance since he passed away later at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas before the start of another Who tour. In addition, great performance by Bryan Adams, Noel Gallagher, Kennedy, Eddie Vedder and others. It is a great tribute to one of my favorite and greatest Rock and Roll bands of all times. The Who is still touring and I highly recommend everyone to see them.
Not Bad for a Bunch of Old Geezers.......2006-11-10
When I first saw this set available on CD, my first thought was "great - just what the world needs - another Who live album!" But the sucker that I am for music by The Who, I bought it anyway, and was pleasantly surprised by how good it is. Having stripped themselves to a five-piece after the 1989 "The Kids Are Alright" tour and the 1996 "Quadrophenia" tour, the Who got back to basics for this show. These guys may have been in their fifties when they did this, but that didn't stop them from returning to their over-the-top bombastic glory. If I could use one word to describe their performance, it would be "incendiary." Roger Daltrey's voice can't quite hit the high notes like it used to, but he showed on this set that he still had the pipes to do Who songs justice. Pete Townshend has a very nasty guitar tone throughout, and this is not a bad thing. Best of all, you get to hear John Entwistle, the Bassist of the Millennium, playing lead bass while Pete thrashes out his power chords. The interplay between him and Pete, especially on Magic Bus, is a revelation. He plays a mind-bending solo on 5'15. Sadly, The Ox is no longer with us. I still miss him. There are no bassists like him - before or since. His final performance is documented on the bonus disc, and it's quite a performance. The band is at it's fire-belching best throughout. The song selection is top notch, and includes a few surprises (The Relay, Let's See Action, I'm One, Mary Anne With the Shaky Hand), plus the usual suspects. The only reason I don't give this set 5 stars is because too much of the between-song banter from Pete is left in. The only exception to this was when he put a heckler in his place. Pete always was a punk at heart. This performance reminds me of when they played at MSG in New York after 9-11. I remember they blew the roof off the place, and this performance in London has that same feel. This is a worthy addition to any Who fan's collection. Get it now - you won't be disappointed.
An Incredible Live Album........2006-11-05
The Who are truly one of the greatest bands ever (along with Led Zeppelin, they are the greatest ever for me), and this 2000 recording of their benefit concert for teenagers with cancer at England's legendary Royal Albert Hall is proof that even as they enter old age, these guys still rock like nobody else.
The performances (including four bonus tracks from 2002) are unbelievably strong the whole way through, from "I Can't Explain" to "Won't Get Fooled Again" to "See Me, Feel Me / Listening To You". I could've done without the special guests, but that still did nothing to make the album any less great.
This cd is also special because you get to hear the late, great John Entwistle for one, last time. The man is on fire throughout the whole show. What a truly great loss. I know I'm not alone when I say John is deeply missed.
This is an absolutely fantastic live album that belongs in everyone's collection.
Pretty Good for Senior Citizens.......2005-11-24
Don't get me wrong. This is no "Live at Leeds". This is no "Isle of Wight". But believe me, this is still better than most live albums. John Entwistle is at his peak in the peformance of "5:15". Pete's playing sounds great throughout the album. Although Roger Daltrey's vocals are definitely not what they used to be, they still aren't unbearable. Zak Starkey is the best drummer that could've followed Keith Moon. Exiciting guest peformances from Noel Gallagher, Eddie Vedder and more.
Bottomline:If you can get this cheap like I did, then get it. Entwistle's bass solo in 5:15 is worth a few dollars itself. If not, then be sure to get "Live at Leeds" as a testament of The Who's live domination of the rock industry.
Great Performance at a Great Price.......2005-10-10
Good song mix, although mostly predicatable. Sound is good and performances passioned. 2 1/2 discs for under $10 makes this a no-brianer. Last gigs with John E. on Bass makes it a nice historical gem. Who are YOU?

One thing you've got to say about the Moody Blues: unlike the remainder of their grittier Brit Invasion peers, middle age seems to suit them just fine--better than youth, in fact. Albums from the band's late '60s/early '70s commercial heyday pretty much fixed the Blues boys' stance. Having forsaken the modest charms of their initial R&B-influenced recordings, they forged a haughty amalgamation of MOR rock, bombastic symphonic ornamentation, and proto-New Age lyricism--hardly the stuff of restless youth. This live set finds Justin Hayward, John Lodge, Graeme Edge, and Ray Thomas performing their hits ("Tuesday Afternoon," "Nights in White Satin," "Ride My See-Saw," and so on) live with backing from the World Festival, recalling, of course, the band's '67 breakthrough, Days of Future Passed. Roll over Beethoven and tell Mantovani the news. --Steven Stolder
Customer Reviews:
Moodies still got it........2007-06-01
My dear Moodies may be a little older and a lot grayer but these fabulously talented men can STILL play the living daylights out of their instruments and rock it like no one else! Justin and John's voices have aged well and their chemistry with each other and their audience is one-of-a-kind. Great CD and the DVD is well worth getting as well. Rock on 40 more years Moodies!!
MOODY BLUES LIVE.......2007-05-07
EXCELENT CD SOUNDING BETTER THAN THEY DO ON STUDIO RECORDINGS THIS WAS THE LAST TIME RAY THOMAS PERFORMED WITH THE BAND.
THE ORCHESTRA COMES OVER REALY WELL & MAKE THE WHOLE PERFORMANCE
SOUND GREAT.
Superb blend of orchestra & band.......2007-03-10
I believe that my DVD of the live performance mentioned that the conductor had done the arrangements. Regardless, they are absolutely flawless. You seldom see such integrated and sophisticated collusions
of pop and orchestra that don't sound artificial - these don't - it
makes you believe that Justin was writing for just such an environment.
I've just about worn out my DVD so I thought I should get the CD
and put some of the songs into my playlists. I can't imagine a complete playlist without at least In Your Wildest Dreams, English Sunset, Tuesday Afternoon and a few others. It wouldn't be complete.
It's okay, but there's room for improvement.......2006-07-27
This Moodies live recording with a full orchestra is a bit more subdued and mellow (and so is the audience) than their "Red Rocks" release from 8 years earlier. Three new songs from their 1999 studio release "Strange Times" are performed here. Hayward's uptempo "English Sunset" and John Lodge's "Words You Say" are performed well, but Hayward's vocals on the poignant "Haunted" are extremely strained, shaky and sometimes flat. It's enough to make one cringe. In perhaps one of Ray Thomas' last performances before retiring from the group, he delivers an extremely short version of his classic "Legend Of A Mind" with a flute solo that lasts maybe 30 seconds. In past live performances, an extended version of this song may run from 9 to 12 minutes. The rest of the Moodies classics here are well performed by these legendary "veteran cosmic rockers". My overall opinion is "Hall of Fame" is not as strong a performance as "Red Rocks" from 1992, and judging by the album title, this may be the band's subtle method of focusing attention on them to be rightly voted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, an honor which they richly deserve. This album is worthy of 3 1/2 stars.
They must be the best........2006-07-05
In the 60's/70's I enjoyed listening to the Moody Blues - as the years carried on I had my taste in music that varied, forgetting the Moody Blues ever existed until I began to listen to their songs again. I was so impressed, I had started buying their CD's and class them my favourite group. They are number one playing live on stage and their concert at the Albert Hall was astounding. Hoping they record more live shows. they are the best.

Album Details
Jimmy Webb is that rarity in rock music, a professional songwriter who achieved stardom in that capacity. "Archive" is an excellent 20-track overview of Webb's criminally overlooked career as a performer from 1970 to 1977, his most productive period. While he is best remembered as the composer of hits for others, this collection offers proof that he was equally adept at interpreting his own songs, often times bringing more emotion to them. Disc two consists of Webb's outstanding 1972 live perfomance at the Albert Hall, previously only available as part of the (deleted) US box set "The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress."
Customer Reviews:
Worth it for "Live at the Albert Hall" alone.......2006-06-04
This is a two-part set. "Archive" has been available on CD since the mid-90's and is a reasonably well-done collection of Webb's notable work. "Live at the Albert Hall" as an addition is an amazing concert.
Most of Webb's repertoire for this concert is standard fare. The commentary between songs is great. Webb's description of writing "Didn't We" and flunking out of music school is hilarious.
And he does do some out of the way tunes you won't encounter elsewhere. Webb does "Pocket Full of Keys" which appeared on "Sunshower", which was a 70's collaboration between himself and Thelma Houston and as part of a Boston Pops concert featuring Glen Campbell doing Webb songs.
The big surprise (or shock to some) is Webb doing a Frank Zappa song, "My Guitar Wants to Kill Your Mama." It's twisted and well done.

Tiny Tim - 'Live! At The Royal Albert Hall' (Rhino Handmade).......2006-09-11
I'm giving this CD a four star rating because Tiny Tim has always managed to hold my full attention through out any(including this archive release)of his CD's I've ever had, listened to and/or borrowed.'Live!At...' is pulled from a never-before-heard performance that took place in October,1968.Sound quality may not be the absolute best, but it's acceptable.Tunes that I got a kick out of were "On The Front Porch","Buddy,Can You Spare A Dime?",Sonny And Cher's "I Got You Babe","Frisco Flo" and Mr.Tim's signature gem, none other than "Tiptoe Through The Tulips With Me".Good novelty fun-time music here for the taking.
Thank you........2006-04-17
This CD features a previously unreleased concert by Tiny Tim, at the Royal Albert Hall in London, 30 October 1968. It was such a major event, that even the Beatles and the Rolling Stones were in attendance. The concert was performed with a full orchestra, although sometimes Tiny sang here with no orchestral backing. This was during the height of Tiny's popularity, and was probably the biggest concert of his career. Tiny performs a lot of old songs, and a few new ones, in his trademark style. He usually will preface the song with some remarks about when the song was written and who originally sang it. Tiny was often made fun of for his singing, but he actually could carry a tune (albeit with a lot of tremolo). He often would perform songs in imitation of the style of the original singer. He can be heard here singing in the style of Bing Crosby, Rudy Vallee, Bob Dylan and other singers who have been forgotten nowadays. Unfortunately, the tape ran out before the concert was over, and had to be replaced by another tape, so about 90 seconds of the concert were not recorded (the remarks before "I Hold Your Hand in Mine" and the first line of the song). But that doesn't detract that much from the enjoyment of the concert, if you're a Tiny Tim fan. It is well recorded, for the time period, using a 4-Track recorder. The CD comes with a reproduction of the original concert program, albeit in a much smaller size.
A vintage 1968 concert recording.......2004-05-08
Rhino Handmade has issued this limited edition CD, featuring Tiny Tim at Royal Albert Hall in 1968. Great care was given to this release, including replicating the original program that was given to the audience (albeit in a much smaller size). Unfortunately, the original tapes were not of the highest quality, and even feature a brief gap where the tapes were changed.
But that said, there are some great songs here, rendered in as good a quality as we can reasonably expect. "Livin' in the Sunlight, Lovin' in the Moonlight" and "Buddy Can You Spare a Dime" are my favorite tracks, but there are lots of good, classic Tiny Tim here, including, of course, "Tip Toe Through the Tulips With Me." There's also some more modern material, including the work of Dylan and the Rolling Stones, which Tim introduces with amusing stories. He even sings a duet with himself, "I Got You, Babe." It's unique, to be sure.
I'll admit, I tend to admire Tiny Tim more than I really enjoy him. But the best of Tiny Tim can be a great thing, and there are some great tracks here. It's worth a try.

One Of The Best Live Releases I've Ever Heard.......2006-07-06
I'm not a huge fan of live releases because the studio versions always sound better so whats the point? This is definetly an exception to that rule. I would dare say that this is the 2nd or 3rd best live disc I've heard behind Peter Frampton, and The Beatles. The music hall this was recorded in, Royal Albert Hall, sounds awesome and The Stranglers have a 13 piece string arraingement to back them up, it really works well. I got this as a cutout for less than $5.00(US) with shipping, I'd dare say even if this was your first Stranglers purchase it would be a good one.
