I've liked Placebo for a little while, but I dont have any of their CD's anymore. So I saw this little beauty on the shelf and picked it up. A pretty good mix of their best and a very nice remix disc. A frequent play for all occasions. I especially like the UNKLE track.

a definitive offering that provides those of you not familiar with Placebo's brilliance the instant chance to dive into some of the traditional singles while also savoring the more experimental mixes. There is nice variety here and it serves as a primer that should effectively get you hooked!

This is a great value because it includes the hits and a bonus disc with remixes that are better than the originals.

Great Compliaton - the essentials!.......2005-10-17

Each of us will have our favorites that aren't on this CD, but they are the essential singles and is necessary for every Placebo fan! New songs such as "Twenty Years", "Protege-Moi" and "I Do" make it worth to have all by itself.

I was not a big fan of the accompanying remix CD, but it is still a great buy nonetheless!

A Fantastic Collection.......2005-02-16

It gets to me how unfair the music press is to Placebo. Every single negative review I've read either focuses too heavily on the lyrics or on the band's image. Yes, they have lyrics about sex and drugs. So did the Velvet Underground, but you don't see critics ranting about how bad they are. As for the band's image, why the hell should that matter? Even if you don't appreciate it, surely it's the music itself we should be concentrating on?

So, onto the music. Two words: sublime pop. Placebo are up there with the Beatles, the Cure, R.E.M. etc. in terms of their pop sensibilities: they make very catchy, unique songs. They still maintain that their main influence is Sonic Youth, and while I can believe this, they're far more pop than Sonic Youth ever were. A word of warning: this doesn't mean it will appeal to everyone. Music is very subjective, and you may simply be put off by Molko's nasal voice, or the tunes themselves just may not be your cup of tea. But I reckon most people can enjoy this - if you've ever liked a Placebo song on the radio, I suggest picking this up and giving them a chance.

So just one more question: should you buy it if you're already a die-hard fan, who owns all of their main records? Basically, yes you should, but try and find it cheap, like I did. It's worth it because the 'Nancy Boy' here is the superior Sex Mix not featured on their debut album, 'Without You I'm Nothing' is the remarkable version with David Bowie (someone else who will tell you just how good this band are), not included in their second album, and English Summer Rain is the pumping remix missing from their fourth. Add to this 'Twenty Years' and 'I Do', the latter a light-hearted love song with something of the honesty of Robert Smith, and the fanatic should definitely be picking this up.

I've always loved Placebo, and I'm so glad that all my favorite songs are now on one disk. The new ones are great too. My only regret is that My Sweet Prince isn't on the disk, as that might be my all time favorite Placebo song.

I have always been a fan of Placebo's music over the years but felt that ever since their black market album their music just got too repetitive.
So i stopped buying their music.

So this compilation is a great treat as it'll allow me to have everything in one shot. I don't think it's missing any songs so in my eyes it's a great best of compilation!

Very much worth checking out!
