Great Latin Tracks and a good value.......2007-07-16

This disc was inspired by the "Dancing with the Stars" and it has some great Latin tracks. All of the swing and shag are really fun. Compared with the rest of the disc, the tango and waltz by the Dance Vision WinRon Studio Orchestra are mediocre. Look past these, and the disk is a winner! Seventeen of nineteen tracks are danceable. Too bad I can't rate this 4.5 stars!

One of my fav bands.......2006-05-16

Here is one of the best 70's bands.Man they produced some good songs.
They formed in the late 60's or early 70's but statrted to have alot of success in the mid to late 70's.
The band were introduced to the writing partnership of Chinn and Chapman, who were to provide the band with a string of hit singles. Their initial success was down to bubblegum pop anthems such as Funny Funny, Co-Co, Poppa Joe and Little Willy. However, the band were writing their own hard-rock numbers on the b-sides of these hits. This resulted in Chinn/Chapman coming up with heavier pop-rock numbers, most notably the powerful Blockbuster, which reached number 1 in the UK at the beginning of 1973. The group's determinedly effete, glam-rock image was reinforced by a succession of Top 10 hits.

Damned Live at the Lyceum.......2003-12-27

This was a good release from the Damned. This was recorded I think in 1981 and features the usual sort of chaos of some sort. I quite liked this release as you have your usual Damned standards ala smash it up love song etc etc. This concert features a few covers Sweet's Ballroom Blitz The Ruts In a Rut (excellent cover I thought) and I don't who originally did this but the song Shakin all over was good also. The sound quality is ok not the best passable. Recommended if you are a Die hard fan of the Damned like me. Line up at the time Dave Vanian Rat Scabies Paul Gray (ex Eddie anf the Hot Rods) amd of course Croydon's favorite son Captain Sensible.

More historic ballroom.......2007-03-04

The Victor Silvester Orchestra (VSO) was England's most important and most durable dance orchestra. They originated "strict tempo" dancing in the 1930s. Led by Victor for thirty-five years, Victor Jr. took over in the 1970s. They recorded almost everything worth recording, and so there will be no end to the remastering of their tracks. This is not a complaint, because it is wonderful stuff.

This album has some of the old and somewhat scratchy sounding recordings from the 1930s and 1940s, and some of the better tracks from the 1950's and later. This is mostly quickstep and a fast foxtrot (44 pbm), and two waltzes.

There is little crossover here with You're Dancing on my Heart, Marvellous, Strictly Ballroom (1993), Ballroom Dancing (1997), and You Danced These Bands. If you are just starting a VSO collection, go with either of the first two.

If you are a TRUE psycho Kat or Kitten and know your psychobilly!You also know this album is a killer find, if you can get it!This cd is a unreleased northwood ep+bonus tracks. The furious power trio from brighton, who have their own distinctive, raunchy,rockabilly sound,which sets them apart from other slap bass bands.This cd is on cherry love records in association with nv records.
