Good music - bad engineering.......2005-01-25

This album has some great songs on it. Unfortunately the engineering is not even.
Simply - every song has an enormous overpowering bass drum right dead center. If you have a balanced system it is like an "Eye of Sauron" overpowering everything else on the album.
Maybe a new release will come out with a more natural sound. Any good stage engineer would through a pillow in that thing.

Holy cow! Has Buffalo Springfield and The Byrds been revived? This CD has the great sound those two legendary bands had and now I want to hear more. If I could tag it with more than 5 stars, I certainly would!

I listened to your CD a few times today while doing errands. I like to listen to new CD's several times in a row to get a good feel for them. Your guitar playing is awesome and you've got some great words going on too. By the way, HOT pictures of you inside and outside that case.

Honest Music!.......2004-08-24

Michael's album "Your World" is one of the most honest albums I have listened to in a long time. When the song Good Lovers, Better Yet, Best Friends came on, my mind was transported back to a wonderful place; a place that I was happy to be reminded of. Michael conveys a depth of feeling, an insight into ones' sole which is seldom equaled. The CD cover indicates that Michael not only performed all of this music, but wrote and produced it as well . . . WOW, my thanks to Michael and I hope he continues to create music like this for a very long time. LaurieT

Why I LOVE this CD..........2005-12-12

My boys - 7 and 5 - will not let me stop playing this. What I like is that their favorite songs keep changing, and that they are learning to appreciate this record in layers. That's rare, and that's exactly the kind of musical experience I'm trying to encourage them to have.

Here's what I like about it: an amazing range of diverse music, and song style & arrangements that are encompassing enough to include kids singing along, a British rapper, as well as a bosa-nova beat .

The vegetable song even helped get my younger one to try every vegetable mentioned in the song! And he's been eating broccoli ever since!!!

I would recommend this CD to anyone with kids 4 through 9 or 10 - beyond the "kiddie" kiddie stuff, but still open to music that isn't on MTV. It's smart and hip, in a warm way, and most of all, funny in a very human, real way that (it would seem to me) anyone who likes that kind of stuff would relate to.

We stumbled on your tunes on a music service while looking for another "Jamie" and heard a few the other day getting ready for work. Tonight we listened to all of "My Daddy Is Scratchy" while eating dinner with our kids, Andrew (12) Samuel (8) and Lillianne (3). We all laughed til our sides hurt. My 12 year old told me those songs were ripped straight from his journal. Thanks for crafting the perfect soundtrack for a sophisticated kid's journey to being a cool old person...

Laughter & Tears: A Jewish Saga.......2003-08-02

This is the first "review" of a CD I have ever written for posting on CD Now on Amazon, and I am moved to do so because of the special quality of "Laughter and Tears, a Jewish Saga," by The Wolford/Rosenblum Duo, Centaur CRC 2521.

The range of feeling exhibited by all the selections of music, both purely instrumental and with voice, is particularly evocative of the length and complexity of Jewish experience. The selections include stunning original compositions by pianist Ivan Rosenblum and rarely heard contemporary songs from Israel by composer Ben Haim. The delightful, humorous and previously unrecorded early Jewish vaudeville songs by Irving Berlin are wonderfully amusing and the presence of the ragtime idiom in them is a further indication of how much of the world's music has been absorbed into thematically "Jewish" compositions.

The section of the CD devoted or named Holocaust Remembrance, comprised of songs by Ellwood Derr, was haunting and poignant but I found even more touching somehow the eloquent instrumental rendition of the traditional prayer, Eli Eli. The performance had a wonderful equilibrium of sound and an appropriately timeless quality.

Klezmer music is always fun, but it is played here with clarity and verve. All in all, this is a rewarding smorgasbord of Jewish temperament expressed in highly professional and creative musicianship.

Tom Trenney is a brilliant young organist who doesn't just play the music on the page, he tells a story. This CD is recorded on a beautiful organ in a wonderfully reverberant room. The programming is great and includes many pieces that don't get recorded often, but should!
