Inevitably labeled "pop punk," Simple Plan's sophomore album finds the Montreal quintet settling in as a straight-ahead rock band. Yes, lyrically, their concerns remain grounded in the adolescent petulance and alienation of classic punk. They're "the ones you love to hate." "You don't know what it's like to be me," they insist. "We're the kids that you pushed away," they huff. Musically, however, the follow-up to 2002's popular No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls finds the band moving toward a strain of radio-friendly rock that owes less and less to the punk canon. Opener (and album highlight) "Shut Up!" "Me Against the World," and "Perfect World" boast sweeping choruses and Pierre Bouvier's spit-in-your-eye vocals. But strings creep into "Welcome to My Life" and the closer, "Untitled," is a heart-on-his-sleeve piano lament that owes more to Night Ranger than the Ramones. This one will appeal to fans who prefer the "pop" side of the "pop punk" equation. --Steven Stolder

5 out of 5 stars Great Band and Album.......2007-06-30

I would have to seriously disagree with all the people who wrote bad comments about the band. Simple Plan sings song about how you're all kicked and pushed around. Some of you other reviewers don't even know what it's like to experience things like this, so you really shouldn't say anything bad about it. It's a really encouraging album that tells kids to rise up. Songs like "Shut Up!" really tells you what to do when someone always bothers you and stuff.

2 out of 5 stars The Tradesman battle away.......2007-03-18

Simple Plan are rock's true tradesman. Very little talent but through sheer hard work they have become a renowned band. All the people who flame them have to understand these guys are just trying to carve a career like you or me and guess what? they are suceeding. The fact that I'd rather eat glass than listen to it is not the point, because of their approach they will constantly improve as musicians and songwriters. For now though appreciate this album for what it is a fun album by young, uncomprising males who refused to give ground and are now reaping the benefits. Another thing I don't recommend this long Player to those who look for virtuoso singing, you are better of elsewhere. Thanks for your time.

1 out of 5 stars I'm sorry I'm such a whiney brat!!!.......2007-03-07

All Simple Plan does is complain. I mean think about there biggest hits. "Im sorry I can't be perfect" I mean come on. I honestly can't stand Simple Plan, so I can't say whether this is one of their best or not, but its awful either way. Don't buy this no matter what, unless you want to be depressed and annoyed by the lead singers whine.

1 out of 5 stars Zero Stars.......2007-01-01

College Metalfreak

Haha. Simple Plan sucks. Good lord, how can a band suck as much as this one. Seriously, how can anybody listen to this crap. It's not music by the way, it's just a bunch of whiny girls in their twenties wishin' they were men. All the songs on this album flat out suck. I hope this band is through. The lead singer Pierre, what a stupid name, is such a loser. I have never heard a more annoying voice in my life. It's like finger nails on a chalkboard. It sounds like all the members are porn-addicted masturbators. Btw, if you're a guy (I am) and you do this, you're a loser, plain and simple.

Also, Eliza Dushku is such a gorgeous woman. I thought it was so awesome in the video to the horrific "I'm Just a Kid" (only seen it once) when she dumped these wimps, including that stupid, loser bandgeek boy, at the end. It's reassuring to know that a beautiful, intelligent, and strong woman like her won't fall for immature, pathetic babies like them.

4 out of 5 stars Alright album.......2006-11-05

The songs are very cool and exciting when you firs hear them, and listen to it a few times. Then it gets soo old, you want to throw it away, instead of selling it to someone. The songs are very overplayed. Even my personal favorite, Welcome To My Life seems to be very overplayed. I think they're a good band, just, songs need to be a bit more likable. I'm going to base these songs' ratings on when I first heard them.

1. Shut Up! (9.5/10) Pretty repetitive. It's upbeat, and a good song to dance and sing along to.

2. Welcome To My Life (10/10) Again, my favorite on the album. Catchy, and a good song to sing along with. Overplayed, like all the songs.

3. Perfect World (8/10) An Ok slower song, and I'll stress it again. Overplayed.

4. Thank You (6/10) Not really that good. Not really very likable, fast and boring.

5. Me Against The World (9/10) Catchy, exciting, headbobbing, on the darker side. EXTREMELY overplayed though.

6. Crazy (10/10) One of the better songs. It's good to reflect on. It may be my favorite song as well.

7. Jump (10/10) Also a good song. It's not really that overplayed. It's very jumpy and thrilling. I like it.

8. Everytime (10/10) Here's a good soft song. Loved it, and this could be my favorite song.

9. Promise (9/10) It's very catchy, and fun to sing. Overplayed as well.

10. One (8/10) Kinda boring, but you get used to it. Good lyrics.

11. Untitled (10/10) And to end with the softest song. It's very very soft, and pretty overplayed, wayy too much. Good song to reflect on memories and corny stuff like that, but just...nah.

And overall my rating would be 71/100. Poor, I thought it was better than their debut though. Their debut was pretty dull, and boring.

4 out of 5 stars Definitely worth buying!!!!.......2006-03-22

Everyone on here keeps going on about how simple plan's not "punk" and what posers they are. Well, who cares whether they're punk or not as long as they make good music (and i happen to think they do)? Another thing, who decides what being "punk" entails, exactly? Who defines that??

You also say that they always write about love and breakups and that they should get new problems. Name any band you consider good, and i bet they've written about love and breakups. And since you all are apparently dead set against "posers" don't you think it's a little ridiculous to try to say that they should get new problems? If those are the problems they have and know about, then that's what they should write about. I don't know what could be more poser-y than writing about problems they don't have.

Simple plan is a great band. They write about things all teens can relate to. I love both of their albums and I think everyone who likes rock should try them out. I'm sorry for sounding like such a whiner but some of those reviews made me mad. SP rocks.

5 out of 5 stars review.......2006-03-18

Don't knock Simple Plan's first album, but this one is way better. Great mix of deep songs and upbeat songs that make you just wanna jump around. Definitely worth buying

1 out of 5 stars THIS IS NOT ROCK!!!.......2006-03-13

This is some crappy pop music! Simple Plan are emos from Montreal that really can't write songs! All they whine about is how crappy their lives are and breaking up with their girlfriends. BORING!!! Listen to a band with awesome lyrics... like Type O Negative or My Dying Bride!

2 out of 5 stars Ignoring the ignorant rants coming from the VOID of stupidity.......2006-03-06

I am tired of hearing bad reviews from people who have never listened to the band and automatically assume that they are posers. My friend let me borrow the CD, and I listened to it. IT WAS HALF-DECENT.

Okay, so these guys are definitely not punk rock to start with. They use power chords that are slurred most of the time, a bit more intricate for the pop-punk genre than the occassional repetitive rhythm guitar strumming the same exact string for three straight minutes. The drums are a mess though, they sound like a two-year old beating on pots and pans. The bass was actually not as bad as I expected it to be, it was audible. The lyrics were typical teen-pop angst driven, you get the picture--no creativity besides the rhyming. I just didn't like how all of the tracks sounded nearly the same, I guess that's just how pop-punk is getting to sound these days.
Key Tracks:
Shut Up
Jump
Crazy (the guitar intro was a takeoff of Smashing Pumpkins' "Today")

I would reccomend this CD to to intended audience, ten year olds. It's not HORRID, but it's certainly not great.

5 out of 5 stars completly awesome.......2006-02-21

Simple Plan has definitly changed their music style from No Pads, No Helmets,...Just Balls. it's much more deeper, the songs are heavier and i would have to say have a bit more meaning then their old catchy jumpy songs. they sitll have a few fast song on their alblum that you can jump around to such as the song Thank You,Jump, and Promise. i rate this a 5 because i think Simple Plan write GREAT songs and this alblum was just sucha HUGE transistion from their last alblum but this one is soooooo AWESOME! This is one of those alblums that you can listen to forever and it will have the same affect on you everytime you listen to it.

5 out of 5 stars FIVE STARS FOR THE AUDIO PORTION!.......2006-08-06

I bought this disc from a WAL-MART and it was labeled as a CD/DVD

be warned it's a VCD! and not all DVD players will read and play the disc.. such as PS2 systems.. mine wouldn't accept the disc and neither would my dvd player.

However the AUDIO CD itself is worth the money.. BUT You should go for the DUAL DISC dvd version of this disc.

it has a DVD side with extra footage etc... and the AUDIO (though it's missing the bonus tracks, but let's face it we're a society of music thieves online, you can find the bonus tracks)

5 out of 5 stars Love it.......2006-05-27

I've already reviewed the actual CD "Still Not Getting Any..." so I'll just talk about the bonus tracks/videos.
The live tracks are amazing and so are the videos. Lots of bonus footage. :)
My only complaint is that the VCD quality is not the best. So if you're expecting amazing video quality, you won't find it on this CD.

Reviewer: Cody Shoman 11 A.M.
The punk-rock group from Montreal, did a pretty good job on their album "Still Not Getting Any." Simple Plan is a Canadian punk band who has just started to make it big in the last few years. Their main vocalist is Pierre Bouvier. David Desrosiers and Sebastien LeFebvre are both back-up vocalists. They both have other attributes as well. David is the bass player and Sebastien plays the guitar. Their drummer is Chuck Comeau and the lead guitarist is Jeff Stinco.
"Still Not Getting Any" starts out with a bang. "Shut Up!" is the first track on the CD and it is an up tempo song. It is followed with another up beat song that is good as well called "Welcome To My Life." "Perfect World" is next in line, but is to slow. Following is the song "Thank You," in which they pick up the beat again. They drop down again with the song "Me Against The World," which is just to slow, like "Perfect World." "Crazy" is not as fast paced, but is still good. They come back with another faster song called "Jump." It has a great beat and good lyrics. "Every Time" is another slow song and the last of that type on the CD, thank goodness. The next two songs "Promise" and "One" are ok and that is about all I can say for those. The last song on the album is the best song on the CD. Though it is slow it is different than Simple Plan's other slow songs. The track "Untitled" has great lyrics. The song asks, "how could this happen to me," after he made a mistake, because he doesn't know how, whatever happened, could happen to him.
This is a good CD, but has a few bad slow songs, which hurt them on this album. Without the slow songs it would have been an excellent CD. I did like it, for the most part, so I'm still going to give it a rating of four stars.

The canadian pop punkers are back with their suberbly energetic 2nd album, the album deals with pressures from peers, family, girlfreinds/ boyfreinds and being a misfit as well as many other of issues. Songs like 'me against the world' and 'crazy' are main highlights of the album and shows just how far the band have progressed in the little space of time between their first album 'no pads, no helmets....just balls' was released. Songs like 'Untitled' show the amazing writing skills of the band, 'welcome to my life' the first single released from this album and was a popular hit with fans of thge band worldwide.
A must have album for fans of good charlotte, yelowcard and greenday, be ready for super fun songs with a back lash of meaningful lyrics and excellent guitar skills shining through your cd player.
