2 out of 5 stars Too busy.......2006-07-14

I was hoping for more music - there's just too much storytelling for my and my kids' taste. We love the Beethoven's Wig series and were hoping this would be similar.

5 out of 5 stars good product and fast service.......2005-09-11

Product arrived in ample time overseas and was pleased with quality of product!

5 out of 5 stars what a road trip.......2005-02-21

i bought this item after reading some of the reviews on amazon for my nephews who are 2 and 4 years of age. two months after christmas their mom was explaining how they request the cd everytime they are in the car. she groaned when i was in the car and they boys wanted to show me how much they liked the cd. during the trip i witnessed a mother humming along to the music with her children, the boys singing to excerpts, and an overall execptional learning experience about music, culture, and history. if you are looking for something that all children will like, passes the time on a road trip, and teaches important lessons about life without being pretentious then get this cd, it is a guaranteed crowd pleaser.

5 out of 5 stars Mesmerized and moved mom to tears.......2005-01-26

This CD is awesome, the music great, the story captivating. But it's Mozart, you already know about the music. Other reviewers have already discussed the story and I agree with their assessments that it's very good. The reason for this review is to say that my very active, never stopping, constantly in motion 5 year old SAT DOWN AND LISTENED without fidgeting or fiddling for a full 20 minutes and then sat but fiddled for the remainder of the CD. Maybe this is not a big deal to moms of "normal" energy level children -- but this simple act of being still for 20 minutes moved me to tears. I said nothing before putting the CD in, I just put it in while he was doing his running around. Within seconds of hearing the story start he sat down on the floor, crossed his legs, and listened while looking at the speakers. I have never seen this behavior from my child before, ever. Please note that this is a child who is not ADD, he just cannot be still. He listens to hundreds of hours of stories we read to him -- while he's doing something else. He "watches" videos -- while he's doing something else. He reads, while clapping or tapping out the beat of the syllables. I cannot remember my child ever stopping what he was doing to JUST LISTEN. When it was over he said, "That was a cool story," and got up to run around. That was it, but that's high praise from this child. To see my child sitting still for a full 20 minutes, you cannot begin to imagine my awe. I am running right out to get the rest of the series! Bravo to the producers!

1 out of 5 stars Not Bad But A Weak Attempt.......2007-02-11

I love Depeche Mode. I have for quite a long time, and they can put out some awesome remixes. Sadly, many of their best remixes are not here.

I do hope DM intends to put out another box set like this and includes some of the remixes they left off (read: all of the remixes they left off). Disc 1 and 2 are all right, but the choice of remixes leaves MUCH to be desired. Some are standards, some are flat out crap. The bonus disc, #3, fairs a bit better. The alt "People are People" remix by Sherwood is a total waste. Better left on the cutting room floor.

Seriously, DM needs another set of remixes. This box set doesn't do them justice and will leave most fans flaccid.

One Star out of Five.

5 out of 5 stars Great music.......2007-01-10

This was another Christmas gift to my friend who loves Depeche Mode. All of these remixes are fantastic. I highly recommend this to any fan of this group.

4 out of 5 stars Never fails to entertain..........2007-07-04

My fourth album from Bolling, and I'm still constantly entertained and mesmerized by the music. Bolling's specialty lies in his ability to fuse "mainstream" (arguably so) melodies with little surprises here and there which never fails to please and entertain. I also highly recommend the Violin and Piano album, and the flute and piano albums.

5 out of 5 stars Claude Bolling Jazz CDs.......2006-11-10

I was delighted to discover the Claude Bolling collection available on Amazon. I used to play the flute suite but didn't know he had written for other instruments. I purchased this CD for a cellist grandson.

4 out of 5 stars Great music, but ..........2006-09-20

I echo the comments of other reviewers in praising the music. It's very creative, very interesting, and the combination of instruments gives it a depth that it might not otherwise have. However, I found the quality of the recording to be poor. I admit I have a cheap audio system, but other recordings with similar instruments sound much better. Hence 4 stars instead of 5.

5 out of 5 stars Ma continues to Expand his Repertoire.......2003-10-17

Bolling has left the rather confined world of the Jazz trio (piano, flute, bass + percussion - that's a quartet isn't it?) and expanded into other areas. The cello seems an odd choice for a jazz adventure but somehow it seems absolutely correct in these circumstances.

Ma has traveled from the beautiful solitude of the solo Bach Sonatas to the ravishing sensuousness of the Tango to "modern" chamber music and now to sophisticated jazz settings. Each of these pieces seems written with him in mind (and maybe that was the case) and if not, it is as near a perfect fit as one can imagine. The yearning of the cello combines with the other instruments to produce some of the most beautiful sounds around. This is a winner.

5 out of 5 stars Bolling and Ma--a combination made in heaven!.......2002-10-07

Claude Bolling and Yo-Yo Ma are a combination made in heaven on Bolling's "Suite for Cello & Jazz Piano Trio." Once again marvelously mixing together many of the basic ingredients of classical and jazz, Bolling serves up a deliciously rich stew of musical influences that manages always to sound fresh, never derivative.

"Baroque in Rhythm" opens the album with a, well, baroque sound. Ma serenely carries the first few minutes of the song himself, when Bolling and his bassist and drummer come in for back-up. The result is pure, propulsive magic. "Galop" has the feel of a musical dressage session, with Ma's cello richly filling the role of spirited horse, and Bolling's piano providing a prancing, mincing sound to back up the illusion. "Romantique" starts off sounding as though it's actually going to be a cheesy lounge ballad, but it soon turns mystical and minor and rich. Bolling can pack regret and memory and smoky sadness into piano-playing like practically no one else I know. "Romantique" is truly a magically evocative composition. On the song "Cello Fan," Bolling's piano and Ma's cello playfully sound as though they're racing each other, or else talking to each other at very high speed, each rushing to outdo the other. It's great breathless fun, and the whole album is a treasure.

I think this music is intended for adults, though the photo on the cover is of a sleeping baby. In any event, Schumann's work, Scenes From Childhood, Op. 15, featured here is more likely to bolt you out of bed than put you to sleep, as the mike is far too close to the piano being played by Cyprien Katsaris. Purcell's Adagio from The Indian Queen is magnificent, performed by John Elliott Gardiner and the English Baroque Soloists. The Weird Award goes to triple harpist Tim Hobrough and lutenist Stephen Barber for their bizarre, spiky rendition of Minuets Nos. 4 and 5 from the Notebook of Anna Magdalena Bach. I would like to meet Bill Holland, producer of all these Atlantic Records classical compilations. He's programmed Satie's Gymnopedie No. 1 on three different CDs, billed alternately as sensuous, romantic, and now here: good for a long snooze. --Gwendolyn Freed

2 out of 5 stars What is all the hype about?.......2007-07-09

I purchased this CD on the basis of the reviews written on Amazon. I have to say I am terribly disappointed. My son hates the CD, I listened to it and I am not all that impressed either. It is ok but nothing like described by other users.

5 out of 5 stars great cd.......2007-06-26

We play this cd every night at bedtime. It not only helps my baby stay asleep, but helps me fall asleep. The only issue I have is that one of the tracks near the end of the cd is a little louder than the tracks before it, so I just make sure I keep it on very quiet and it's wonderful.

5 out of 5 stars My girls listen to this every night.......2006-11-10

My girls (ages 3 & 5) have a hard time winding down at night. We have a regular bedtime routine (bath, snack, teeth brushing, books, hugs), but they still take forever to settle down and sleep. Adding this CD to the bedtime routine has really helped.

5 out of 5 stars I would give it more than 5 stars...........2005-11-18

I had this CD when my daughter was born 5 years ago, and it gave us such a soothing environment in which to bond during quiet times. We also put it on shortly before we'd put her down to sleep, and by 6 weeks she was sleeping through the night in her own crib. I think it was her sanctuary, and the music helped her feel comforted. We've since then completely worn out the CD (she listened to it through her 3rd year), and will have to buy a new one for our next little addition (coming soon!). I found it on this site and just listened to the samples from each track. Aahhh... very soothing for Mommy, too!
I also plan to get it as a baby gift for a friend. :)

5 out of 5 stars Great CD: soothing music by best performers. Worth every penny........2005-08-05

I listened to this CD countless times ever since I first bought it from BMG music service back in 1997. Compositions of this CD are popular classical hits. That is, you will likely recognize at least some of them if you listen to the sampler.

What sets this CD apart is supreme music performance. Every composition is performed flawlessly, with real feeling and passion. There is a good reason why this CD that was released in 1997 is still around and costs over ten dollars. This reason is called quality.

4 out of 5 stars Like a rainy day in a good bookstore.......2007-07-10

"Always pleasant, never a false cord." That's what I think each time I listen to this collection. I guess I should be listening more closely, but I find the music and the virtuosity with which it is played to be a springboard to other thoughts and activities. I can read with it in the background, write with it or simply drift into thought. And that is really quite enough for me.

5 out of 5 stars Not "Ultimate", but Wonderful!.......2007-03-29

As good a guitarist as Julian Bream is, one must begin by acknowledging that the title of this 2-CD set containing 32 admittedly seminal pieces written for hand-played strings ( primarily, the lute) is a tad hyperbolistic. An "Ultimate" collection of anything would have to be more complete, by definition, than any two CDs can be and, again, it almost goes without saying that no two people are apt to be in total agreement about what should or should not have been included in any such collection. All caveats considered and aside, this is, indeed, a thoughtfully selected and masterfully performed collection of what is, unarguably, some of the very best classical pieces ever written for the lute. Bream plays some of them on the guitar and others on a renaissance lute - the latter giving a somewhat truer indication of the stylings and musical nuances intended by the various composers. But, even the pieces he plays on the guitar - an instrument that, in it's current form, did not exist when many of the pieces were originally composed - are sensitive and lyrical interpretations that sound as if they MIGHT have been composed for the guitar.

    Without spending space here reiterating the specific pieces, their titles and lengths, I will simply list the composers whose works Bream presents so nicely in this collection. They span a range of about five centuries beginning in the time of England's Elizabeth I and spanning the years through to the 20th Century's premier Spanish and Brazilian classical guitar composers. The list reads like a `Whose Who" of classical plucked-string instrument music and of composers whose keyboard compositions work particularly well on the strings of a lute or guitar, and includes;
    - John Dowland
    - Francis Cutting
    - Antonio Vivaldi
    - Gaspar Sanz (*)
    - Mateo Albeniz (*)
    - Manuel de Falla
    - Enrique Granados (*)
    - Hector Villa-Lobos, and
    - Joaquin Rodrigo
(*) = Pieces originally written for keyboard play.

Every classical guitarist has his own recognizable style and approach to the instrument and the material. An experience listener would not confuse Bream's work with that of Andres Segovia, for example: but it is not that one is better than the other. Each, in his own distinctive way, is simply superb. Though the Spanish influence is clearly audible with both musicians, Bream's stylings have a more contemporary lilt and inflection than do those of Segovia; he makes each piece his own. One suspects that each time he plays a piece it comes out differently according to the moment, his mood, the instrument and God knows what else. Segovia, on the other hand, was well known for his constancy once he had found a version of each piece that fully suited his own ear and temperament.
While I am admittedly a Segovia fan, I find Bream's renditions to be noticeably fresher and each infused with an aura of presence in the here-and-now which I find especially enjoyable.

The collection is neither complete not `ultimate', but it is VERY good and well worth having in any collection of classical guitar music. In fact, for audiophiles not familiar with this genre, it is a fair place to begin to develop an ear for and a listener's knowledge of and experience with the classical guitar.

    I recommend it highly.

5 out of 5 stars Everyone would love this album!.......2007-01-16

This album is fantastic. Easy to listen to and wonderful background music for working or dinner parties

    5 out of 5 stars Incredible.......2005-10-24

This is the leading guitar player of his generation at his best.

He is especially amazing in the second CD, with some of the solo guitar transcriptions of Albeniz. His rendition of Rodrigo's three pieces is also sublime.

I can't imagine anybody buying this cd then regretting it.

5 out of 5 stars One well worth the price of two.......2004-09-25

This two cd set is an odd juxtaposition. The first cd consists of a sampler of Bream's career output - but without (and I believe the omission is disgraceful) any acknowledgement of Bream's significant contribution toward the creation of a truly 20th century concert repertoire for guitar. The second cd is a re-release of his superb early 1980's recording of Albeniz and Granados transcriptions with the added bonus of a sublime interpretation of the "Three Spanish Pieces" by J Rodrigo.

Speaking as a musician I find the selections and the production of the first cd problematic. We get a few of the more lightweight examples of renaissance lute and baroque guitar (but no JS Bach and no (solo) baroque lute work); we get no vihuela repertoire and nothing truly representative of classical period composition. We do have all six movements from two contrasting concertos but the remainder of the cd consists mostly of neo-romantic repertoire from the twentieth century. Worse still, the recording quality is highly variable; for example one of the Villa Lobos pieces sounds as though it was recorded in an indoor swimming complex. Given the cd's title more care should have been taken to better represent Bream's career and musical diversity. In the opinion of one familiar with Bream's output this is a disappointing selection. Well played but not representative of the artist nor the art form.

However the opposite is the case with the second cd. These recordings were made at a time when Bream set out to commit to (then) vinyl, via the guitar, the musical heritage of Spain. Bream here was at the height of his interpretive power - and a fine film documentary also resulted from this endeavour.

The inclusion of the Rodrigo set makes this cd a better buy than the original Albeniz and Granados recording, although those who find this compilation rewarding might perhaps profit from researching Bream's catalogue, and adding the complete recording from which the Rodrigo is sourced (circa 1980-90) to their collection.

As for the Albeniz and Granados Bream offers his own transcriptions. These tread a fine line between fidelity to the piano scores and Bream's concept of what works on the guitar. As a general observation Bream seeks to include significantly more of the original score's textures than do many of his peers (e.g. J Williams, P Romero). At the same time he is not averse to significantly modifying the original (e.g. amongst others 'Granada' and 'Cordoba'). Such a process is part of any transcription but here the results are not only excellent but also personal to Bream, as a result we have further confirmation of the craft of a great performing artist.

Every listener will discover their own favourites and I have more than space allows me to relate. I believe that Bream brings more expression to his performances of the Valses Poeticos by Granados than any other guitarist I have heard, and the Passacaglia by Rodrigo is played with such a sense of a brooding menace that my spine tingles every time I listen to it.

The second cd alone is worth twice the compilation's asking price.

4 out of 5 stars A good "greatest hits" album.......2007-01-09

A great overall collection if you have few of their other albums. The only problem is, the album does not flow (like most compilation albums) and I keep skipping to the tracks I want to hear. This greatest hits album is a great way to start a library of the fun-loving band.

5 out of 5 stars Supergrass are following the Beatles path into the new millenium..........2006-10-27

...yes, the Beatles by which I'm not comparing Supergrass to them. No, Supergrass are riding the road built by not only The Beatles, but other British rock'n'roll greats like The Kinks, David Bowie, The Zombies and many others. But the exploding energy of Supergrass delivers a deeply satisfying listen that does not exist as frequently in the present 2000's. This will definitely be a group that will represent the virtouso side of British rock'n'roll of the 1990's and 2000's, and without doubt represent the Bohemia-Intellectual-Hard Rocking spark that has lighten recent generations that has been going on since Circa-Sgt. Pepper. An intoxicating and highly addictive album. 100% recommended for anyone any age.

    3 out of 5 stars The Irresistible?.......2006-07-06

Once again I took the reviewers participation as my ruler for selection. Oh yes, according to the devoted reviewers this album was something special, good stuff! So I bought it...and to my dismay it was a whole lot of songs in poorly recorded medium with touches here and there of quality. Nothing less, nothing more. My idea of a powerful double album? Something like Led's Zeppelin Physical Graffity (is that the name? I always seem to be a little buzzed and been known to alter titles and names-but not intentionally, mind you!) Too many songs in this double album sound like fillers, badly recorded (specially), and uneventful. But like I said once in a while the listener is treated to an above average piece of music. Sometimes two good songs will elevate the overall rating but they better be that good! No wonder I had not heard of Supergrass all that often. They are right there with so many other bands I can not begin to differentiate one from the other. I can understand that everyone has their own opinion and Supergrass (I first liked them for their name for they conjure images of some powerfull stuff!) to them might be the second coming, so please do not think I am the anti-whatever. Supergrass sounded average overall, perhaps their latest studio album would have been a better way to hear what they can or can not do in terms of sound quality and songwriting ability. As it is, the double album has a lot of live music that is poorly recorded. Will I ever buy another album by Supergrass? It would have to be endorsed by the most serious reviewers and make quite a splash to make me dish out the "moola". Everyone seems to adore them but me. What is wrong with me? Actually a whole lot of things but not my taste in good sounds, that is an instinct I have preserved and nurtured for far too long to doubt myself at this stage of the game. Great music is great music! Simple as that and Supergrass double album just do not raises above to fit in that category. If every cd is going to be a near 5 star then why do I keep hearing some shi..y music? Too many songs, not enough talent to fill the album, 3 stars!

5 out of 5 stars How could I have missed this?.......2006-03-13

Wow, this is some good stuff. A British band that we Americans either knew nothing about or chose to ignore but don't ignore this one , please! "Supergrass is 10: The Best of 94-04" is, well, just super. Add it to your collection because you won't regret it for a minute. Supergrass is probably one of the best British based guitar rock groups that has risen to the top in the last fifteen or so years. Don't forget to give a listen to some clips here on Amazon, then you will decide for yourself. Glad I discovered this set when I did because I was starving for something new and different. I was not disappointed and hopefully you won't be either.

4 out of 5 stars Good Fun Music With A Catchy Beat.......2006-03-06

Supergrass is simply fun, rhythmically compelling music with a prominent sense of humor, put together with a lot of musical skill and studio savvy. The best track is "Kiss of Life", a somewhat Talking Heads-like song which is alone worth the price of admission. The rest of the songs here are not in that style but are just as good. Nothing deep here from these Brits, but there's always early Genesis if you're in that mood. This is '90's fluff elevated to its ultimate tongue-in-cheek best and given its most clever and flavorful incarnation.

5 out of 5 stars Fine, Exemplary Playing From Friedrich Gulda.......2007-06-09

Admittedly Friedrich Gulda's playing of this Bach pieces may not win the hearts of those accustomed to more dramatic, Romantically-inclined intepretations, of which Daniel Barenboim's may be the most recent noteworthy example. But for me Gulda's elegant playing has earned a warm place in my heart for both its superb technical skills and a subdued dramatic style which strongly emphasizes counterpoint, without resorting to pounding on the pedals (Instead, he does occasionally pound away at the keyboard, but only when it is demanded of him from the score.). A maverick musically in many ways, Gulda adhered to a least dramatic, most technically poised, style of playing in his interpretations of Bach and Beethoven. I commend Philips for sonically enhancing this old analogue stero recording via 24 bit digital image remastering, providing a recording which sounds more intimate and life-like than a stereo LP version I had heard.

    1 out of 5 stars Was Bach a Robot?.......2007-04-18

This is a passionless recording. You could easily get the exact same performance from a computer. Bach was a warm, inviting and hospitable person and this recording shows none of that. If one takes the time to study the meaning of the WTC, one can easily see this aspect of Bach in the music. The preludes and fugues of the WTC, not to mention all the works of Bach, have the potential to be played in hundreds of different ways so to tolerate a recording that offers the nutritional value of iceburg lettuce is silly.

Moreover, the piano sounds really bad. It took me weeks to listen to the whole recording.

Another reviewer mentioned finding a recording on an instrument closer to what Bach had. Not only is the sound closer but the tuning is more accurate as well. Baroque tuning is a bit lower and when played in the lower tuning, all the pieces take on a much different meaning. Find a recording using harpsichord or clavichord.

    I threw this recording out.

    4 out of 5 stars beginner's lessons mastered.......2007-01-08

There is something amusingly ironic about the phenomenon. Keyboard master Friedrich Gulda plays pieces originally composed by J.S. Bach for beginners on a modern piano that Bach might have felt was a machine lowered from Mars. If he knew about Mars.

The result is not historically accurate in any rigid sense of the term. Just superb.

That does it for me. This recording is best owned along with a performance on something closer to the 'original instrument'. But it also stands alone as an assertive, modern, tough-minded interpretation of one of Western music's grand deities.

No one has ever done fugue like Bach. It is virtually his native musical tongue.

Fans of the 1993 film 'The Remains of the Day' (Anthony Hopkins, Emma Thompson, Christopher Reeve) will welcome the Prelude #2 in C, though they may not have known at the time whence came that beguiling musical theme from this reviewer's favorite movie.

The good folks at Philips Classics (Duo) are once again to be commended for wise choices.

1 out of 5 stars Somewhat dry and odd performance, I did not like it at all.......2006-06-10

I do not like this performance at all. It's dry, there isn't much energy or passion. There is a sort of crispness to the playing...things are cut too short. Tempos are odd. The emphasis is wrong. It just doesn't feel right.

I tend to be tolerant of perverse performances such as Glenn Gould...but at least Gould has energy, intensity, flow. This...is just annoying to listen to. I'd choose any mediocre pianist playing the WTC in a "normal" way over this strange and unpleasant performance. Get a different CD of the WTC, not this one.

5 out of 5 stars simplement écouter ..........2005-08-11

Cette version à prix abordable n'est pas la moindre.
Gulda tire son jeu à partir d'un piano réglé «Bach».
Le timbre est prompt, ce qui donne une musicalité spontanée,
sans être trop ample à la manière des grands pianos à queue.
    Quelquefois, on croirait entendre un piano droit;
ce qui semble convenir tout à fait à Bach.
Très belle version à mon humble avis.

    5 out of 5 stars Loved it!!.......2007-01-11

I've been a huge fan since the 80's and this CD puts a new spin on all their great hits. "Enjoy the Silence" is one of my favorites and although I never tire of the original version, the remix is awesome. I'd recommend adding this one to your collection...

4 out of 5 stars Enjoyable for those who like DM in all their manifestations.......2005-01-28

I agree - if you don't like electronica or dance, you will probably hate this CD (I have not heard the entire 3-CD set, just the 1 CD version). But, if you hate that type of music, I would be surprised by the fact that you liked DM. I thoroughly enjoyed this CD, even more than I thought I would. I have a mixed tolerance for remixes so I was not sure I would like the CD. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the range that I heard on the CD (even if it was all electronic). I was espcially blown away by "Halo" and "Enjoy the Silence." Like another reviewer, I agree that "Barrel of a Gun" is positively hideous but that song serves as the exception not the rule for this CD. "Route 66" and "Just Can't Get Enough" are wonderful throw backs to the originals. Unlike one reviewer who felt that these remixes were simply extended versions of the originals, I would disagree in several places ("In Your Room" is a fantastic example of a completely reworked song.) I too would like to have seen something after Ultra on this album but I suppose that is simply more incentive to buy the larger CD compilation.

2 out of 5 stars Depeche Mode Remixes 1.......2005-01-25

This is a one disc set of a slimmed down version of the three-disc remix set which is available for a lot more money.

It is difficult to remix Depeche Mode when they have such great songs to begin with. So I find it hard to add anything new to the originals to make them seem better.

Some of the beats are okay and some remixes work better than others. The list price is way too much for what you get.

Overall though, you'd be much better starting with the individual albums themselves.

2 out of 5 stars Get the originals instead.......2004-12-31

The members of Depeche Mode know what they're doing. Most, if not all, of their songs are perfectly produced and it's difficult to improve on them (that means you, Marilyn Manson.) There are some really good remixes on the 3 CDs. These are the mixes that don't put in stuff just because they can - they're clean and simple but add another level to the song (the Air remix to "Home" and "World in My Eyes (Mode To Joy)" are the two best.) Most of the mixes, however, are just the same remixes that I wouldn't even listen to in a club - they're overworked and tired. Skip the remixes and get the originals.

    5 out of 5 stars What the?.......2004-12-30

Some peeps might not like this album because it contains "remixes" wich are more Electro or Dance than the original one.
Thats a reason why some of you people dont like it,Because you arent an adult,Maybe you are a teenager like me.
Girls who go to the clubs like this kind of music for goin' out arround there and dance with their guys.
It's not totally for just listening arround,It's more for like having it on a club.
This CD is great,It tries to revive ssome of the old songs DM has made so far. These remixes might be kind of Electro or Dance but this new version of Enjoy The Silence that was made by Linkin Park is more rock wich I love it and I hear it all the time. But it would of been nicer if DM Makes again these songs with a better sound,I mean,Revive them theirselfs not asking help to other guys to remix it.It just keeps being the old thing but with a new sound.Wich i think that stuff from 2004 dont go with stuff from the 80s or close to the 90s.So thats what I think. But it would of been nicer if Depeche Mode itself revives these songs singing them again and giving it another sound,Or just remixing themselfs. Depeche Mode is a very good band,If a band like Linkin Park can remix songs,Why not DM? DM has more experience and would come up with excellent remixes.

    4 out of 5 stars Awesome sampler.......2006-07-16

I only gave it four stars because, as mentioned before, there are a few tracks that really don't belong here. That said, I can't praise the music on this CD enough. Netwerk produces the best chill-out series. Everyone else pales in comparison. I hope this genre gets more exposure. It deserves a universe all its own.

    5 out of 5 stars GREAT COLLECTION.......2006-06-26

THIS CD DELIVERS WHAT IT PROMISES - RABBIT IN HEADLIGHTS IS MOST AMAZING SONG BY FAR, BUT I LOVE PLAYING THE CD...HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

5 out of 5 stars Not all chilled........2005-05-05

I have some of the earlier volumes and always love the new. This volume is the same, though the Radio Head and U.N.K.L.E. tracks are far from soothing. Don't get me wrong, they are great, just not something I'd put the kids to bed with. Who ever edits these collections needs some kind of award. How is the "NOW!" series more popular than these? Maybe I just don't fit in.

If you like off the beaten path classics you're sure to like this.

5 out of 5 stars bath time and candle light.......2005-03-18

Had a crappy day? need to relaxe? start the bath water and light the candles. Set this CD up and you'll have a better night ahead of you.
Start with track #1 move on to track #3,9,11,12 then on to 14.
    You'll feel so much better!!!
I have this whle collection and this is one of my favorite compilations. I hated Chillout 06 and was dissapointed in 05 but 02-04 are safe bets!! go with the flow and CHILLOUT!
