Album Description
The recording process of Don't Cut Your Fabric To This Year's Fashion was experimental to say the least. Recorded at Pie Studios in Glen Clove, Long Island and General George's converted studio in Lindenhurst, NY, the album was produced and mixed by William Wittman, famous for his work as CYNDI LAUPER's exclusive producer for the past 15 years. Don't Cut Your Fabric To This Year's Fashion features guest appearances by Eddie Reyes of TAKING BACK SUNDAY and Gary Bennett of KILL YOUR IDOLS.Customer Reviews:
In this case clever song titles DO make for clever songs.......2006-03-05
"ok" electronic-based indie rock - the singer is TERRIBLE - if you like him, though, the songs are decent enough.......2006-01-05
Highlights include:
the entire album if you can stand the singer
A nice start..........2005-07-12
Afteward, I bought the CD from the booth outside for $12. It was autographed, and really, really bright.
As has been noted, this band is not original. They are, however, pretty "cool". Though the artists look the part, Action Action is not "emo" in its mood or lyrics. Like The Killers, The Bravery, Duran Duran, etc, the band is more a punk/poptronica band.
Standout songs include: this year's fashion, Druglike (my favorite), Photograph, Instructions on building a model airplane, dont cut your fabric, the short weekend begins with a longing. Yes I realize that is almost half the CD.
Anyway, the CD is worth buying though it definitely is more for a punk teen kid crowd. I give 3.5/5 stars.
Action Paction.......2005-06-13
Action Action is my turkey hoagie with a bag of Cajun chips........2005-04-05
1.This Year's Fashion = 6/10
2.Drug Like = 9/10 (definately reminds me of Depeche Mode.)
3.Photagraph = 10/10 (One of my favorites. This is the song you play really, really loud and wash cars to [optional].)
4.Basic Tiny Fragments = 5/10 and then 7/10 (a little boring at first and the lyrics are a little *stupid* to me, but at the end it gets more heavy metal and just plain AWESOME!)
5.Bleed = 4/10 (I always just skip this one...I don't know why.)
6.Instructions on Building a Model Airplane = 8/10 (Another cool one to dance to.)
7.A Simple Question = 5/10
8.Eighth Grade Summer Romance = 10/10 (it's just so awesome, that's why.)
9.Let's Never Go to Sleep = 5/10
10.Broken = 6/10
11.Four-Piece Jigsaw Puzzle = 3/10 (tooooo slow and acoustic. BLAH!)
12.Don't Cut Your Fabric = 10/10 (It's more upbeat version of the first song which makes it more awesome.)
13.The Short Week Begins With Longing = 8/10 (a great one to drive to...if you know how to drive, that is. But if you don't, just skate and whatever.)
So, all in all, this 70's synth pop album takes you back to the days of Saturday Night Fever with John Travolta and the light-up dance floors. But it also has a new-wave punky vibe to it. So just shut up and dance!!!
