    Album Description

The debut album `Black Skies In Broad Daylight' is the kind of hook-laden rifforama of noise that so rarely gets made properly, but The Living Things have managed it. From the opener `Bombs Below' through to the anthemic `End Gospel', awesome first single `I Owe' and beyond this is a head splitting beast of an album guaranteed to soundtrack hedonistic debauchery throughout 2004. Universal.

3 out of 5 stars Trying to figure out..........2005-04-28

why this album hasn't been given a wider release or any publicity. I bought it, stupidly, after reading a few positive reviews and articles about the band, and only after hearing two songs. Probably the music snob sheep in me attracted by the Nirvana comparisons and the fact that the album isn't available in really any record store I've found.

Supposedly, it hasn't been distributed in the US due to its "political content", but if that's true, then I'm curious as to what's so offensive, as this album is a lot less "political" than anything by, say, Anti-Flag or for that matter, Bruce Springsteen. Listing "The FBI / The CIA / The FDA / The NSA / Our HMOs / Our PPOs / The CEOs / And the USA" as they do in "I Owe", just as an example, hardly qualifies as political commentary.

The album itself has a few good, aggressive songs ("Bombs Below", "No New Jesus) and some aggressively cheesy, low IQ type stuff as well. For a reference point, I'd say this album is about as enjoyable as the recent albums by the Vines: a few songs that stick in your head, mostly filler that doesn't actually rock too hard, likely forgotten in a few weeks.

5 out of 5 stars One of the Best Albums of the Past Few Years. FACT..........2005-03-26

i find it appalling that this album can't be purchased here in the U.S. shame on you dreamworks! definitely one of the best albums i have purchased in the last few years. in the immortal words of mr. ferris bueller: "it is so choice. if you have the means, i highly reccomend picking one up."

5 out of 5 stars If you consider yourself a fan of Rock N Roll..........2004-07-20

You simply must... and I stress this... MUST OWN this album... The Living Things are quite simply the future of Rock N Roll... Put down that Nickelback Crap and pick UP some real badass Rock N Roll... The Brothers Berlin know how to rock and they do it well... as far as their sound think of them as The Stooges with Joe Strummer writing the lyrix instead of Iggy and with the swagger of early GN'R!!! This is The Future sooo pick it UP and revel in what real Rock N Roll sounds like!!!
