It'd be unfair to pigeonhole Shedaisy as merely a Dixie Chicks knockoff--especially when the sentiments and sound of The Whole Shebang, this three-sister act's major-label debut, owe almost as much to Deana Carter and Shania Twain. Fans of those artists will enjoy this technically adept disc, while others may remain unimpressed. --Rickey Wright

4 out of 5 stars The Whole Shebang.......2006-07-18

Great mixture of upbeat & mellow tunes. True to SHeDAISY form, several are witty & fun as well. Once again showing their versatality & knack for fine-tuning their craft.

5 out of 5 stars The Whole SHeBANG indeed!.......2006-06-13

I am really glad I decided to get this album after I wasnt going to cuz I had the Remix version; but I listen to this one quite a bit more than the Remix CD now, unless I want to hear "A Night To Remember"

What I love about SHeDAISY is quite simple: I love how their music sounds. SHeDAISY has a lot of pep with the right amount of Country and Pop. They have very good singing melodies in their songs and they have the BEST Harmonies you will ever find. I love how they sing their songs, Kassidy sings lead and then the Kelsi and Krystan back it up with the right soft harmony and it sounds so cool. That is the BEST part about SHeDAISY in my opinion is their AWESOME background vocals.

This CD started the Whole SHeBANG.. and it prooved to be a good CD selling as much records as the Dixie Chicks and Shania, SHeDAISY, unfortunetely, died out when they did their remix CD and then came out with "Knock on the Sky".

But their background vocals and Harmonies have stayed the same: Soft, very harmonic, and extremely pleasing to the ear.

If you like good peppy country music; GREAT voices and even better harmonies, you will love SHeDAISY. To me, this is the best SHeDAISY album, even if you don't like thier newer work, check this CD out.

It is a winner.

1 out of 5 stars Annoying.......2006-05-28

These 3 girls have nothing good to offer. They don't have the staying power that many REAL country artists have. Their song lyrics are very IMMATURE.

5 out of 5 stars Wow!.......2005-12-15

Best all-girl three-part harmony since the Andrews Sisters, but with a modern country sensibility. Well written, well produced. Can't say enough good things.

5 out of 5 stars Innovative contemporary country.......2005-06-29

While some people will say that this album is not country (and I can see their point), I have no problem is classifying this as country music. Among the musicians are two steel guitarists (Dan Dugmore and Paul Franklin), a mandolist (Jonathan Yudkin) and a fiddler (Aubrey Haynie). All four appear on one track (Before me and you) and each plays on some other tracks. Despite these traditional country instruments, this is very much a contemporary country album complete with electric guitars, keyboards, drums and percussion as well as the inevitable acoustic guitar and bass.

SheDaisy comprise three sisters, these being Kristyn, Kelsi and Kassidy Osborn. Kristyn co-wrote all the songs with a variety of co-writers. The quality of the songs is impressive beginning with Little good-byes, in which the lead singer discusses what item she is taking with her after splitting from her partner (Beatles records, the cat and the TV among other things) and what she is leaving behind (Billy Joel records and unpaid bills among other things). Very funny, except that as a fan of both the Beatles and Billy Joel, I think she should have taken all those records.

The second song (I will - but) is somewhat contradictory but also amusing. The lead singer here promises to be her partner's everything if he treats her right, but lists a long list of things she won't be. Among the things she won't be is his all-night restaurant (so any man who wants a woman to stay at home and cook for him will be sadly disappointed). She won't be his Friday paycheck either (so any man who hopes to rely on the earnings of a career-minded woman will also be disappointed). And there is more, but maybe there is still enough left after all the subtracting is done to tempt a man.

Perhaps the best song of all is Lucky 4 you, in which the lead singer discusses her multiple personalities and gives them all numbers. You will surely recognize the various personalities mentioned and many others that aren't.

But every song here is brilliant, right up to the closing Dancing with angels. Great harmonies, great music - does it actually matter if it's country or not? No, of course not - it's the quality that counts.

1 out of 5 stars POP GARBAGE.......2006-05-28

Something that someone who claims to be COUNTRY should NOT do. Even though these girls are already pop, remixing it to make it even more pop was a HUGE mistake! Then again, they have to do something to sell more cd's! LOL!!!

4 out of 5 stars country spiced with pop and circumstance.......2006-03-11

If you like your country spiced with pop and circumstance, then you will love these remixes even more than the girls' orignals. You might also like another infectious country-pop act, Imaginary Friends, whose album, "What IF" is spritely, yet intimate with percolating beats and two female lead singers, who give the Shedaisy gang a run for their money!

5 out of 5 stars SHeDAISY flat out ROCK- their music prooves it!!.......2006-02-09

This CD is another great CD by SHeDAISY, the remix versions are just great. I listend to the regular album at wal mart and decided not to get it, but I really liked it too!!! And the girls look great on the front cover, Kassidy, the lead singer, should wear her hair straight more often.
My fav song on this CD is flat out "A Night To Remember" on the original CD, I thoght it was a bit too peppy for a song like that, but the remix version is mournful and sad, and it sends a chill up your spine, my other fav songs on this cd are...
Little Goodbyes
I will... But
Before me and You
Lucky 4 You (Tonight, I'm just me)
Still Holding out for you
Punishment
'Cause I like it that way
Without Your Love- id probably give it a 5 or a 6.
A Night To Remember- as I stated.

5 out of 5 stars All Mixed Up CD has Me Jammin'! .......2005-12-22

This CD has got to be one of my all time FAVORITE CDs!! SheDaisy is one of my favorite country artists, and definitely one of my favorite trios! Actually, they ARE my favorite trio! This CD is so awesome, the best songs are 'I Will...But', 'Before me and you', and 'Dancin' with Angels'. The others are also wonderful! The sound effects and the new rhythms are amazing!! I HIGHLY recommend this CD for anyone who likes modern country or pop country. It's the BEST!!

5 out of 5 stars This Cd is HOT!!!!.......2005-09-02

SHeDAISY rocks on this CD... not only is it my favorite SHeDAISY album, but one of my all time favorite albums by any artist... yes it is that good!
How unique to remix a whole album! and what a job they did it is outstanding... "LITTLE GOOD BYES" is similar to the original with a more driving sound... you'll like this version a lot! "I WILL...BUT" is outstanding soooooo much better than the hit version, the song starts off with the girls amazing vocals with no music then builds up and explodes into a hard rocking version of the song... so HOT!!!!!! "THIS WOMAN NEEDS" is also similar to the hit single release, but the girls have turned it into a Power Ballad making it much stronger than the original. "BEFORE ME AND YOU" Rocks from the get go... I didn't think you could improve the original, but man you can this song is one of the finest rockers on the CD. "LUCKY 4 YOU (TONIGHT I'M JUST ME)" is another song that rocks and and once again is so much better than the hit version. "STILL HOLDING OUT FOR YOU" is very similar to the hit version. "PUNISHMENT" is a complete opposite of what you might expect on this album, where the original version is much more pop sounding, here they've turned this song into a very country almost hoedown sounding song very different than anything else on the album...but... just as addictive as the rest of the album. I like it just as much as the original but for all different reasons. "CAUSE I LIKE IT THAT WAY" totally rocks (but not in a hard rock way) and once again will blow you away with the outstanding production and vocals once again are just as good or better than the original. The only song I feel that falls short from the original version is "A NIGHT TO REMEMBER" on this song they slow it down, and with a dominate piano, which is fine... but the original is just much better with that awesome country/pop sound from SHeDAISY, I wish the original version was on the album. "WITHOUT YOUR LOVE" has a really neat haunting sound that you'll love, this song and "THIS WOMAN NEEDS" stand out as the best ballads from this album. And finally they saved the best song for last "DANCING WITH ANGELs". This song soars it is simply perfect! Man... it sounds awesome... put it in and crank it up... it'll blow you away... amazing vocals and amzing music and production. You can tell from the first note that this song is something special... building up... then building up some more... and before you know it you're on the musical magical journey, that you hope never ends... even at over 5 min long this still flies by so fast. I understand that SHeDAISY took a lot of heat for this album, but I LOVE IT! I love the fact that SHeDAISY isn't afraid to push the boundries a little that they don't fall in the cookie cutter mold of Nashville... and to think that this album has a country underlining and comes off so cutting edge... so awesomely cool... If you want a AWESOMELY HOT CUTTING EDGE ALBUM THAT ROCKS... You want this album... you won't be dissapointed. IT IS SOOOOOOOOOOOO COOL! Thanks SHeDAISY!

        Album Description

"The Whole Shebang" marks the debut of CT native singer/songwriter Paul Spencer. Opening with the 1-2 punch of "We Don't Give A Damn" & "Instant Crush", the first an AC/DC-meets-The-Replacements rocker, the second a frenzied Bo Diddley romp that manages to sound both fresh and classic at the same time, these two songs make it clear that Spencer is broadcasting live from Garageland, and yes, he has his bullshit detector on.

"Bettie Page" keeps the momentum going with its Ramones-like hooks and twisted 50's imagery ("locks the world in a cage / she's kinky like Bettie Page"), segueing into the menacing "Going Higher", a perfect blend of MC5 & Trompe Le Monde-era Pixies that contains a great opening line: "the universe is expanding / and so is my mind".

"Hard To Get Across" conjures up mid-70's George Harrison, complete with some beautiful slide guitar work. "Asian Eyes", with a catchy chorus & sugary harmonies is a slice of mellow power-pop that gives way to the acoustic, mandolin-tinged "Say Goodbye To Summer" where Spencer releases his inner Dylan to great effect.

"She's One Of A Kind" crosses 60's garage rock with 70's power-pop in an irresistible mix of handclaps, hooks & clever lyrics ("she likes Dali and David Lynch / and says the Pixies are the missing link"), while "New Mexico" pushes Spencer's sci-fi fixation to the forefront with its mentions of UFOs & parallel universes, all this put to a frenetic beat and killer riff.

"Hands Off" breezes through with punk guitars & sunny harmonies, and "Don't Let The World" shows that Spencer can write a disarmingly tender ballad just as well.

"Walk Away Christie" recalls late 70's Cheap Trick in the rich wall of guitars / synthesizer that anchors the power chorus, before flowing into the quiet acoustic despair of "Worried About You", a song where the narrator helplessly witnesses the slow death brought on by drug addiction ("...now your eyes have no sparks / and your body's full of needle marks").

By the time we get to the last track, Paul Spencer has already flexed his songwriting muscles rather impressively. A glorious distillation of punk, garage & glam rock with a happy-go-lucky vibe, super-tight harmonies and a solo that threatens to burn the speakers down, "The Whole Shebang" is a bona-fide classic that closes the record in style and leaves the listener wanting more.

5 out of 5 stars Sweden Comin' our way........2004-07-10

Like many other groups from Sweden, Shebang shows plat plus material, if they could only get a notice over in the states. It is a real shame they don't get more publicity over here. The best song on the CD I think is BY FAR 'Romeo' which was used as the theme song for the Swedish movie Eva & Adam, in which the two girls made a "brief" appearence. If you are a fan of the film, this CD would only be all to much more appealing to you. Also if you are a fan of Swedish pop quartet PLAY, Rosie also appeared in this very same movie. Shebang and the song 'Romeo' show plat & beyond all on it's own, so if you want a real taste of Swedish Jams, These gals, and PLAY are some of the best since the ABBA generation. :)

5 out of 5 stars Avril go home, here is the real thing..........2003-01-14

Anyone else find it funny that this album has a poppy punk song called Skatergirl that was released before the crappy Avril song Sk8terboi and yet sounds very similar? Are these girls going to sue? It is a crime that they have such a brilliant album that is far more true to punk than Avril's Punk-wanna-be Britney sound and yet are unknown in the States. Whats up with that? This is the real thing. Buy it and rock out.
