Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Smooth sounds for those Pale Pacific evenings.......2005-09-10

Slightly jazzy, slighty dancey all smooth and relaxing. Water Dance Music's Pure Chill cd is a great 70+ minutes of realxing tracks. The tracks are unmixed but flow seamlessly into one another creatinga fantastic soundscape. Opening with David Goze's "manana", a largely instrumental tune, the mood is set with layered keyboards and minimal beats. The tracks then move to David Byrne's "hearts a lonely hunter" a nice upbeat tracks with breakbeats and swirling synths.

New Age act Delerium's makes an appearance with a beautiful song "You and me" featuring a gorgeous female vovals overa relatively calming orvhestration.

Standout tracks include A man called Adam's "easter song" which is a beautiful and uplifting son with a lovely lyric over pretty keyboards and the track "Zero zero" which has a slow groove and almost jazzy female vocal.

The whole album is one you can relax and chilout to. Well worth the money.

        Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Good sampler, too bad it's not mixed.......2004-09-13

Like the guy before me mentioned, the individual tracks on this CD are chopped up from their original lengths. This actually wouldn't be too bad if the CD were mixed, but it isn't! It seems like the people who put this CD out were just trying to cram a bunch of songs on one CD.

Despite my generally negative review so far I actually liked the music on this CD, so for that it gets a 4 star rating. I see this CD as a sampler though, kind of like a radio station on a CD. I've discovered some cool tracks from listening to it, which of course, I had to acquire the full length tracks from other sources :) The stand out tracks for me are:

        1. Crystal Method - Born Too Slow (NuBreed Remix)
        2. Layo & Bushwacka! - Deep South (Oakenfold Remix)
        3. Plastika - Absolut
        7. Conjure One - Tears from the Moon (Hybrid's Twisted on the Terrace Mix)
        10. Sinead O'Connor - Troy (The Phoenix from the Flame) (Kay Cee Power Mix)
        18. System 7 - Expansion (Conspiracy Mix)

Do yourself a favor. Don't spend the money for this, unless it's used, and just find the individual tracks instead.

        3 out of 5 stars Not a bad CD........2004-08-18

This CD may have some nice tunes in it but I must tell you, this CD is pretty much commercialized for electronica newbies. The problem with this album and the rest of the others that was made by Water Music is that almost all of the tracks end by applying the fade out effect while the music is still going. Especially with the Nu Breed remix of the Born Too Slow. I went and researched and found out the original tracks are way longer than the ones on this album. This CD is not really bad at all. At least I did not spend $20 on this one.

        Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars The beats that make you believe!.......2007-04-11

'PURE TECHNO 3' lives up to its' name and surpasses expectations. Not merely a selection of droning thumps and throbbing beats, but a collection of motivating dance songs that are eclectic and familiar all at the same time.

The disc kicks off with SCOOTER's "Shake That!" which offers enthusiastic exercise instruction set to the disco hook of "Shake Your Booty". If this doesn't get you to dance, maybe they'll get a drill instructor to chant on their next single.

The stand out tracks are of course the most familiar, that is the covers of classics like "One Night In Bangkok" (done by VINYLSHAKERS) or "Personal Jesus" (done by ANAKLEIN) . These sublimely provide an anchor to the know, while current club anthems like "God Moving Over The Face Of The Water" (done by TRANSMUTATOR) or "Kernkraft 400" (done by ZOMBIE NATION & remixed by MISS KITTEN & THE HACKER) keep things in the now, without changing the page.

DANIEL ASH's "Burning Man" is full fledged trance, but is still the most fleshed out actual song on the album, and still exhibits his almost trademark avant-garde as seen through rose colored glasses. JOSH WINK's "516 Acid" supply a steady build but fully realizes every nuance of its music stanza.

And on top of all that, the disc maintains a healthy self depreciating sense of humor as it pokes fun at the scene on SPANKOX'S "To The Club" and at the genre itself in BASE ATTACK's "Nobody Listens To Techno".

The only thing that is really unexplainable about the album is that it is not mixed, but just the individual tracks when it is quite apparent that mixing these tracks in this order would have been fairly seamless throughout the disc.

All in all, it's got the beats that make you believe, without beating you over the head.

        2 out of 5 stars Ehh...........2006-02-14

This is the first volume in the series that I've purchased and probably the last. I Figured I'd give it a chance at a quick glance at the store. It features some reputable artisits such as Ferry Corsten, Armin, Paul Van and Tiesto. However, it also features some of their not-so-hot remixes. There's no real muscle to it. The only song I actually enjoyed was Angel, by Jezper Sonderlund.

        3 out of 5 stars good stuff.......2004-11-08

I try to listen to respectible and well done music. However, I set my standards for music aside when I listen to Trance. The music is so dramatic and accesible it's impossible to not sit back and just enjoy it. I started playing techno and dance music on my iPod while I skated some months ago and I've found that trance is the best for skating music. I'm really tempted to make a skatevideo using this stuff.

If you want to enjoy a fun record with a bunch of sings that hit the mark just right and some that sadly miss then get this one.

4 out of 5 stars Hmmmmmmm... Not Bad.......2004-05-25

Here is the third of the Pure Trance series. Eighteen more tracks of these nice trance songs. Even though a lot of the songs here sound all similar, it's still a good compilation. This album is un-mixed. This is the kind of album where there are g a p s in between the songs, instead of the mixing where the songs sound like they've runintogether.

Pure Trance 3 contains songs like the Kansai remix of Jan Johnston's 1995 trance hit "Calling Your Name." It's still a good remix of a song from nearly a decade ago. There's also Moby's "In My Heart." I've gotten addicted to this track, it's one of my favorites on here. Another good trance song on here is Riva's "Time Is The Healer," remixed by Armin Van Buuren. Armin Van Buuren's one of my favorite DJs. I'm gonna see him in an interview with XY-TV at the Virgin Megastore in Boston. This compilation also contains "And Then They Start To Dance" by DJ Snow Man. You hear a guy whispering "And then... they start... to dance..." with echoing. There's whispering echoes in Dito's "Sky" as well (Of course it's a different vocalist). Another nice trance song. My favorite out of all the tracks is "Welcome 2 Wonderland" by Y.O.M.C. The vocalist in the song says "Can you hear it? Can you feel it? Can you see it? Close your eyes. Welcome to wonderland!" in a deep bold voice. I would answer "yes" to the questions he asks. Other songs include "Angel" by Jezper Soderland, ATB's "I Will Not Forget", the Paul Van Dyk mix of Second Sun's "Empire", "One With The Universe" by O.S.I.R.I.S., DJ Dark Raven's "I Believe", and more.

This isn't a bad compilation. Good thing I listened to this album before I made my decision to buy it or not. After listening for myself, I bought it and I'm happy I did so. Should I do the same for volume four if they release it? Might be some more good stuff on that album as well as this one.

1 out of 5 stars Weak material, poorly compiled.......2007-06-18

Unlike E'Dude (2 comments down), I don't particularly care if the music isn't a continuous mix, however, the average 2nd grader could have extracted these tracks from the original source with more polish. The tracks fade in and out in a way that almost emphasizes that they are being lifted from longer ones. (Imagine a song that starts fading just as someone begins to sing. That doesn't actualy happen here but it should give you an idea of what I'm talking about.)

Beyond that, the music itself is boring. There are no catchy hooks, no electronic manipulations that you haven't heard a thousand times already, and they all sound aimless and similar. Looking for something with material on it that reminds you of one of those "Oh my god!" moments on the dance floor? Don't waste your time looking here.

4 out of 5 stars Best Trance CD I've stumbled upon in a while........2007-05-16

I've been looking for some new good Trance for a while and I found this. It seems to be getting harder and harder to find worthwhile Trance that isnt polluted by annoying high pitched female vocals, so this was a nice treat.

For those of you like me who prefer their trance to be all about the beats and sounds and not about the distracting lyrics then this is for you. (you can probably already tell I'm not a fan of very much vocals in my Trance)

Another thing I love about this CD is that it features songs and artists that probably not very many people know about. It's not jam packed with the overplayed "Top 40" of Trance music like many other Trance CDs are. It was quite refreshing.

I'd reccommend this CD to anyone who is looking to discover new awesome songs and rare artists in this genre.

          1 out of 5 stars It's not sequentially mixed.......2007-04-25

I was pretty disappointed, though not surprised at the fact that this Cd is not sequentially mixed, meaning that the songs are not blended. So each track is interrupted by a pause, just like when listening to a Cd of any other genre. But most dance fans , like me, don't find any sense in listening to a dance/trance Cd if it's not a continous, non-stop selection of blended tracks from beginning to end. Just like when you are in a dance club. To top it off, the songs fade rapidly. It gives you the impression that the recording engineer wanted to "split" from the studio as soon as possible. The only thing that saves this Cd from getting 0 stars ( aside from the fact that it's the lowest score amazon lets you give) is it's half-decent songs. My recommendation is to skip this Cd.
