4 out of 5 stars The Donots " We Got the Noise".......2007-03-13

A very well thought out album, with great guitar work. Especially on " We Got the Noise". There are some songs that aren't as good as the first song on the album, but overall it is a great album.

5 out of 5 stars Best Album in history from the best Band in history.......2005-08-18

I figured out about the donots when I got MVP Baseball 2005.I lve in the u.s,so i looked at 20 stores w/o finding them,so after 2 months, i finally bought it off amazon.anybody who likes bands like bowling for soup and dropkick murphys will most likely love this just as much.hers's what i thought about each song

1.We Got the Noise-my favorite song on the album.great lyrics, great guitar work, great song.what else to say about it but 100% perfect in every single little way?10/10

2.Knowledge-my least favorite song on the album.decent lyrics, not a whole lota guitar, but was still a pretty decent song.6/10

3.wretched boy-awsome song with good guitar,drum,and vocal work.really good lyrics.10/10

4.it's over-again,great song with pretty much everything done
right.10/10

5.dissepear-great punk song.not very long though.nearly everything done right.10/10

6.life ain't gonna wait-really good beggining,pretty good middle and end.8/10

7.alright now-ecellent song with great chorus,lyrics,guitar,drums,and vocals.10/10

8.good-bye routine-it was pretty good, just not fast paced enough for me.8/10

9.your way home-loved it.10/10

10.the jerk parade-nearly perfect but just falls short of it.9/10

11.cough it up-even though it was slower than the other songs, everything was done perfectley.the lyrics, vocals, drums, and guitar all went with the pace.10/10

12.better days-wasn't to great,but still decent.7/10

13.was also pretty well done, but not long enough and the lyrics wern't as well done.8/10

bottom line-10/10

best song-we got the noise(10/10)

in other words, even if you've never even heard one of the donots, you should buy this album.

4 out of 5 stars The Donots Rock!.......2005-03-18

I first saw these guys touring with Millencolin and they are really great! They are a successful mix of pop-rock, punk and have recently developed a much more raw, hardcore edge especially on this album.
There are so many great tracks, opening with the straight up rock n roll anthem 'We got the Noise' right up to the attitude filled 'Punchline'. fans of great gutar music will be easily pleased, 'Knowledge' has a kick ass guitar solo and 'Life ain't Gonna Wait' opens up with an awesome riff! It's well worth looking ito these guys, they have a great knack for penning catchy rock songs and appeal to just about anyone

4 out of 5 stars German Punk rocks! .......2004-07-22

A week ago a good friend of mine bought a new Album "Got the noise" by the Donots.
As we drove in his car we were listening to the cd and I found it was not bad at all.
As i didn't really know a lot about the Donots (the only two songs I've ever heard are "Superhero" and "We're not gonna take it"), I did not expect too much when I bought the cd.
But in fact I was really surprised!
The band plays some really good punk, they in a way remind me of "The Ataris", but they are a lttle harder.

They have some quite catchy songs on their album:

1. "We Got The Noise" - Their first single and entry song. Very good one, although I think there are even better ones on the album. 4/5

2. "Knowledge" - I like the lyrics of this one, catchy chourus! 4/5

3. "Wretched Boy" - Pretty normal punk song, nothing really special to me 3.5/5

4. "It's Over" - I love this one, cool lyrics and melody! 5/5

5. "Diappear" is the "worst" song of the album to me. The singer is more screaming than singing and melody is nothing too special either. 3/5

6. "Life Ain't Gonna Wait" - One of the best songs on the album, has a really cool beginning! A little harder than the other songs (reminds me a little of the new single of H-Bloxx "Leave me alone") 4/5

7. "Alright Now" - Nothing special to say about that song - i like it (nice middle-part) 4/5

8. "Good-Bye Routine" - No E-Guitars this time, a slower, chillin' song, nice change 4/5

9. "Your Way Home" - Again a song with a really cool middle part, the whole song is quite good, nothing too special though. 3.5/5

10. "The Jerk Parade" - Yeah, that one rocks! My absolute favourite! I love the chourus!! 5/5

11. "Cough It Up" - Again a slower, good one 4/5

12. "Better Days(not included)" - Don't know if that is still punk, it's a little harder, reminds me of Hoobastank's "Out of Control". Still I really like it!! 5/5

13. "Punchline" - Good song to end the album with, has some hard riffs again, and the typical punk verses. The ending is really cool!! 4/5

The average rating of the album therefore is 4/5.

I'd say, everyone who is into punk rock and a little harder music should defenitely buy this one!
I can just say, that the few days I own it now, I don't listen to anything else at the moment ;)

5 out of 5 stars If you like the driving raw beat..........2006-03-19

...of other BXs albums then this one is for you. I think this is the BX's most complete work to date. Most albums dilly with some funky beats, then some screamin' fast riffs, some talking tracks, etc. This one goes straight at you with some truly punk-inspired songs bluesy rock. Songs like R.Ls got Soul, Chicken Dog, and Hot Shot get you to first tapping foot, then bobbin' you head, then closing your eyes.. when the songs are done, you've got chills and you're bouncing off the walls. My only complaint on this album is that it doesn't end with Get Over here, but instead throws the gluey "sticky" track on the top. All in all though this is a must have for any indie rock or BX listener.

3 out of 5 stars Most seem to either love or hate this one but...........2005-07-29

Not my favorite JSBX record but never the less still a pretty good listen. Some of the songs kick major ass and yet others are sort of half assed and lack direction. I'd recommend Orange, ACME, Extra Width and Plastic Fang over this one unless you can grab it at a decent price (which is generally the case). Not bad but not their best stuff either.

3 out of 5 stars Still OK, but the worst JSBX album.......2004-06-25

After the release of one of the best albums of the 1990s 'Orange' expectations were high for the next. Unfortunately 'Now I Got Worry' did not live up to the hype and in fact is not a very good albu. Of course there are still some great songs like 'Wail' or 'RL Got Soul' which have the good old Judah Bauer riffs and hooks. The loudness and explosions are still there but the quality of the songs is not too great. Half of the album are mediocre pop songs. Thank god for all the other great JSBX albums.

5 out of 5 stars Get it.......2002-08-27

I'm not a music critic, so I'll just say that this is my favorite JSBX album. It's rock. And it's great pretty much all the way through. Have fun.

4 out of 5 stars A brilliant debut from an underappreciated ska band........2006-10-06

This album really stood out to me over ten years ago when I first got it, and it still shines with a soulful unique pop ska sound today. The sound is true to ska music and seems to channel a lot of 2 Tone influence throughout. I think that the song writing and they lyrics really stand out from a lot of the goofier/drunken fratdork types that started "ska" bands in the late 90s. The lyrics are very powerful and thoughtful and sung with a wondeful sort of undefinable passion you just don't hear much. There are a lot of experimental ideas, although you can't quite call it art-ska there are plenty of rythym variations/tempo changes/secondary non-ska influences that it just all really feels fresh in a scene that can get a little too formulaic at times.

This band has connections to The Mudsharks and to Let's Go Bowling, both very solid bands in the scene on their own right. Check them out, and definately don't pass up this CD as I definately consider it a rare gem of the 3rd wave.

Following the more accessible Orange and the refreshing excursion of Experimental Remixes, the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion take a half-step back with Now I Got Worry's harder, sloppier mixes. But, perhaps in deference to the wider audience the band hopes to attract through its new major-label distributor, Spencer tones down his blues animal showman, and the band serves up a wider set of flavorings that include the tasty keyboards of Beastie sideman Money Mark. What it all adds up to, though, is no great departure from the raw roots-punk the Blues Explosion have offered since day one. --Roni Sarig

5 out of 5 stars Speaker Splitting Rock.......1999-03-26

This album opens with John Spencer screaming like Elvis would if hot irons were being applied to his feet, and that's bascially the tone for the album. Rock's tradition is raw and savage, and these guys uphold that tradition with a record that bristles with attitude, crunch, and incredible guitar work. Put DOWN your hip-hop and go buy this record.

4 out of 5 stars Blues With a Mohawk and Safety Pins.......1998-11-15

You gotta give 'em credit. To meld high-speed three-chord punk and blues is a master stroke, and this album makes for an enjoyable mix. Spencer sounds like Elvis through a warped fuzzbox ... and it make such testosterone poisoned lines as "Kiss my a** - your girlfriend still loves me!" a hoot. Most important, Spencer has resurrected the Blues Groove - Robert Johnson, after all, was a dance musician. "Love All of Me" and "Chicken Dog" have indelible dance grooves. This album takes a while to get hooked on, then doesn't let go.

I'll admit, I'm late getting into Modest Mouse. I knew they had a few albums out prior to hearing "Float On" on the radio, but I had to rush out and buy the single when I heard the song.

"Float On" reminds me of something the Talking Heads would have recorded in their prime. It's very catchy and upbeat, with a cool guitar riff and chorus that I often find stuck in my head all day.

Although "I've Got It All (Most)" is not as stellar, it's still a very strong track. If you own the full-length album ("Good News For People Who Love Bad News"), you could probably compare "I've Got It All (Most)" to the album's "Ocean Breathes Salty." Actually, the song is good enough to have made the album, but since it didn't, I'd recommend spending a couple bucks to have it.
