Product Description
During the stagnation that Progressive rock suffered when the fashion effect of neo Progressive was starting to fade in the late Eighties, there were only few groups to dare bet on innovation. The few nostalgic of the golden Seventies had taken up the habit of reproducing more or less successfully the cliches first created by GENESIS and CAMEL. Refusing this mimicry, TIEMKO developed its own vision of the style, globally dark and the furthest away possible from general conformism. Looking at it objectively now, this French line-up can be seen as a pioneer for all the innovative bands that blossomed during the Nineties. Its music shows a distinctive personality, even if we could mention as some influences, KING CRIMSON, classical music and jazz-rock. Led by a cataclysmic guitar and worrisome keyboards, the instrumental digressions even take the listener to the borders of new musics. Finally, we can add that this band also shows an iconoclast spirit that the great! Frank ZAPPA would certainly have been proud of… Their first three albums "Espace Fini" (1988), "Océan" (1990) and "Parade" (1992) are hundred percent instrumental, and their impacting themes elegantly go from fever to quiet moments. Issued in 1995, their last opus "Clône" includes vocals and shows an originality and concession-free style. TIEMKO clearly proves that they were one of the best bands of the period ! Let’s also mention that the Musea reissue of the first opus includes two bonus tracks performed ten years later by guitarist Rémy CHAUVIDAN and keyboardist Jean-Jacques TOUSSAINT as a tribute to their deceased colleague and drummer Eric DELAUNAY… "Ca Tourne..." is a collection of unreleased tracks, captured live during rehearsals and improvisations between 1994 and 1996. The half-an-hour of music is completed by an interesting multimedia part, including biography, discography and video sequences never seen before. Better than just a making-of, this disc goes deep into the heart of the group's spirit, revealing the friendship between the musicians and the subtlety of a music so much different from any other...
