A Diverse Compilation that Works!.......2007-03-28
I bought this album on cassette when it first came out and still enjoy listening to it! It's a compilation of songs that are odd in their own right and odd in their combination. It just flows nicely from start to finish, from funky to quirky and most everywhere in between.
Incredibly Diverse and Fun CD!!.......2003-05-27
I consider this CD to be THE BEST compilation of some of the best alternative music pioneers in the industry. It is a complete blast to listen to, especially if you enjoy diversity in your music. This is one of those rare CDs that you can actually enjoy it from beginning to end. The Red Hot Chili Peppers kick off an old Stevie Wonder song "Higher Ground" with their usual funk rock. My favorite song on the CD (and also one of my favorite songs of all-time) is "Under the Milky Way" by the Church, a very thought-provoking song which features a bagpipe solo... when's the last time you heard that in a song?? The Cocteau Twins "Carolyn's Fingers" has absolutely breath-taking vocals - even without knowing what they are saying. Sinead O'Connor's breakthrough song "Mandinka" is still a favorite of mine even today. They Might Be Giants "Ana Ng" is very fun. This whole CD brings together everything 'alternative music' used to mean in the beginning stages, before it got too commercial. If you want to take a trip to the past to a time when alternative music meant being unique and different, pick up this disk... it's one of the best compilations you can buy!!
This is a good album.......1998-07-02
I have never thought of myself as the "alternative music" type, but, with the exception of one song, I really liked this album!

C[L] X (1/2 p V^2) X S > C[D] X (1/2 p V^2) X A.......2006-06-06
What a great show! I can see why the boys thought this date worthy of the first release in this series. The energy is high and the jams are great. It's one of those nights, you can hear it clearly, the band was getting it, hitting on all cylinders. But more than that, the crowd was great. They were listening and sending the energy back. The crowd knew they were getting a special show, and they were returning the love. The band knew that the crowd knew. The crowd knew the band knew that crowd knew, and so on, a positive feedback loop that spirals faster and faster, accelerating, torqued and twisted, achieving liftoff. You can tell it was one of those glorious nights where the trippers in the crowd outnumbered the drunks.
The ten-minute jam at the end of Split Open and Melt (one of the rare Phish tunes that could actually be described as sexy) is phenomenal. Everyone is jamming hard but also they are jamming together. Frankenstein is another great high energy instrumental to close out the first set. By the way, I loved it that Phish would give you a high-powered first set. Sometimes the first set would be the more intense set. Contrast that to the Grateful Dead who, at least by the time I was on the scene, had to sandbag through the first set because of limitations of stamina, effort, or both. The second set contains more intense jamming, including a great Tweezer > Timber > Tweezer, keyboard army (a good dose of Page on the keybaord is a good sign, he's far from the most charismatic of the band but he may well be the most talented musician), and then a nice jam on the infectious doo-wop Halley's Comet. Some of these releases from the live series seemed to have been picked for release because they played a lot of their popular tunes, or they are historic shows, such as the legendary Halloween shows or Live Phish Volume Four with some nice ambient jamming from their Japan tour, but this first volume is just an all-around fun, high energy show. Makes for good driving music.
........don't buy this junk...............2005-12-14
this cd is the awfullest thing i ever saw...this guy, tray anastasimo is harry like a freakin gorilla...sucks on a guitar. they play songs that are wierd, like on drugs
A Great Way to Start Out the Live Phish Collection (as i did).......2005-07-30
This show in New York is a special one with some rare songs to see them play live such as horn, makisupa policeman, tela, the curtain, and keyboard army.. also, some kick*** covers such as frankenstein, halley's comet and bold as love....
Highlights from Set 1: (not one song in set one goes into another song, a huge rarity) this show starts out with a rockin suzy greenburg, with an awesome page solo on it, followed by a great llama that keeps the high energy flowin, also a differently played taste, but the best part of this set is the 10:43 foam!! it kicks some a**
Set 2: starts out with a chess move that doesn't happen for whatever reason then goes right into a nice stretch of the curtain, tweezer> timber> tweezer> keyboard army.. both tweezer's are SICK and are pretty differernt from eachother.. after keyboard army, another awesome stretch starts with an alomst 12 minute halley's comet> a 9 minute NICU> an 11:25 slave.. encore is a sick bold as love, better than any other bold as love i have heard
the second set alone is worth the price of this live phish show!! this show is a good one to get into with the variety of covers, rarities, and solos
a definite must have if colleting all the live phish shows
Live 1 good start of the "Live" series.......2005-04-12
With Phish calling it quits last year, we make do with the everlasting legacy of the (so far) 20 "Live" recordings (there are of course many more live releases from Phish, both official ones and from the band's website).
On "Live 01" (2 CDs, 19 tracks, 145 min.), Set 1 starts off with an immediately urgent Suzy Greenberg, and the high energy continues on Llama. The highlights of Set 1, though, come from Foam and Split Open, both of which bookend a new song Makisupa Policeman, a delightful light-reggae take-off. Set 2, as is often the case, outshines Set 1. The Curtain is as prog-rock as Phish will ever get (seriously, didn't it make you think you were listening to Yes?). Tweezer>Timber>Tweezer is awseome, but things get better yet with Hailey's Comet>NICU, showcasing the band free-flowing jamming. And isn't Slave to the Traffic Light a curious but daring way to close the set? A cover of Jimi Hendrix' Bold as Love is the encore. Phish is well known for doing covers, but this one is a bit tame for my taste.
That said, Live 1, recorded at the end of their (almost year-long) 1995 tour shows a band that's playing tight and with great confidence. A nice release to kick of the "Live" series. For other great "Live" releases, check out Live 18 and 20, two of my very favorites.
great way to start the 20+album series.......2003-12-15
this was my second live phish album (no. 10 was my first) and it's an overall solid show. although i do enjoy the shows from 93 that "crazy phans" wished still occurred, to me the phish sound was so much more refined in later 94 and in 95. the dissonant jamming and stuff is still there, but a lot of the playing between band members is much tighter. my personal favorites on this album are a great take on the curtain, tweezer>timber>tweezer because its ultra funky and bluesy, and another classic set of segued tunes in halley's comet>nicu>slave to the traffic light...all songs i don't really find on other tapes that i have. in the first set there's a nice tela and an energetic frankenstein. i wouldn't reccomend this as an introduction to live phish (no. 10 might be more friendly) but it certainly has some tight playing on it. i'd give it 4.5 if i could.

Super Furry Animals are not a band for the frail hearted. Sure, they might have an adorable name and endearingly shaggy manes. Some of their songs even start out sounding a little bit soft and gentle like Coldplay. But then singer Ghruff Rhys throws on an astronaut helmet, starts waving around a light sabre (literally) and soon the whole thing goes ballistic. The psychedelic Welsh quintet has made a career of taking perfectly good pop songs and inverting them violins, horns and magic dust. Songbook: The Singles 1 serves as an introduction to the wobbly world of the group's first six albums, punctuated by odd classics like "Golden Retriever," "Hometown Unicorn" and "Juxtapozed With U" - all of which are indeed actual titles to actual songs. For anyone that thinks they've heard it all, they haven't until they've heard this. --Aidin Vaziri
Album Description
This comprises of 21 of the band's memorable singles taken from six studio albums: "Fuzzy Logic", "Radiator", "Guerrilla", "Rings Around The World", "Mwng", and "Phantom Power". Also includes the original studio version of "The Man Don't Give A Fuck", "Ice Hockey Hair" (never previously featured on an album) and "Blerwytirhwng", from the band's debut pre-Creation EP "llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyndrobwllantysilio-gogogochynygofod (in space)". "Songbook" is also available as a DVD, featuring all the band's videos and a previously unseen 40 minute on-the-road documentary.
Customer Reviews:
The usual pitfalls of a singles collection.......2006-02-07
A nice catch-all of singles and concert favorites, though it can be a bit of a jagged listen. These songs weren't originally conceived to sit together comfortably as an album, and as such they don't sit all that comfortably. In small doses, every single one is a confectionary delight. As a whole, the album could use a bit more breathing space.
The best band on the planet since the beatles.......2005-11-08
Ok let me start by saying i gave this cd 4* instead of 5 because every single song for the most part in there past cataloge are just as good as the singles presented here, so you might get this and think this is all you need. You are very wrong. That was the mistake i made for about 5 months after i got this cd, then one day i thought awww ill just get a few more of there cds for the heck of it, and man they dont have any stinker songs. Now the only cds of theres that im missing is fuzzy logic and the gurilla one (i cant remember what its called but something like that). They to me are the beatles, they change there styles more times than the beatles can think of and there harmonies are more like the beach boys. They are increddible. Ive been trying to turn every person i can on to them because they are just that good. There should be no reason in the world that they arnt a household name and there shouldnt be a reson for you the consumer not to like them. They are glorious pop music for the masses. They put every other pop band to shame.
Irreverent Goodness.......2005-03-22
I had heard about these Welsh guys a long time ago. Entertainment Weekly loved Phantom Power, but I didn't pay attention. Lo and behold, several years have passed and I found out they had a greatest hits cd out. So I preordered it and got it two days ago. Their music has few similarities to bands before them, except for the Beach Boys at times. If the Beach Boys had done this many drugs, maybe I would have liked them too. But Super Furry Animals form very innovative music in the vintage soundscapes they create. I recommend scanning over their razor-sharp witty lyrics while listening. In fact, now I want to learn to speak Welsh just to figure out what exactly they're saying on "Yesbeidiau Heulog", and "Blerwytirhwng?". I'm definitely going to join the SFA cult and if you like music at all, you should too.
Oh, and don't forget to blast "The Man Don't Give A F*ck" down neighborhood streets ;)
A greatest hits for SFA...I must be getting old.......2005-02-15
How can this not be five stars, ya know? I have followed them since Fuzzy Logic and really, they've done no wrong. Their b-sides are better than some bands'a-sides. I am about to purchase the dvd instead with the videos and documentary. As much as I am a fan, listening to their full lengths will always sound better. If you are newly keen on this band, the greatest hits is a great start. If you want to try more, "Radiator" or "Rings Around The World" are definite must-owns.
SFA=OK.......2005-02-09
The Super Furry Animals are the most important band in the history of music, everywhere, for all time, forever. NO OTHER BAND has made the kind of musical leaps and bounds from album to album while preserving their very own voice. NO OTHER BAND could make otherwise head-bobbing wastrels sing along to songs in Welsh. NO OTHER BAND could make such joyfully depressing songs and be so very right all the time about everything.
People who do not enjoy the Super Furry Animals do not enjoy music. I feel sorry for those people, because not being able to enjoy music is like not being able to see the sun come up.
Some people say that the Super Furries are merely brit-pop, as if they produced the kind of throw-away trash you'd hear on a Blur or Oasis album. These people are foolish. They have been tricked, or misinformed. Take any two SFA albums and listen to them; expand your mind; and learn to sing Beach Boys-type harmonies, in Welsh. Don't listen to silly people who dislike layered music, who don't bother to listen full to SFA before talking about them.
This collection is as good a place to start listening to SFA as any. Everyone should enjoy listening to SFA once and a while or even more often than that. Listen early, and listen often.

Origin, Vol. 1.......2006-07-15
Origin, Vol. 1~ The Soundtrack of Our Lives is a totally alright cd with decent lyrics, a rock sound that one has heard thousands of times before and a vibe that is definitely not new or ground breaking by any stretch of ones imagination. Then one might wonder why I give this cd in question three out five stars ? Well, the reason is that this album is just that o.k. and therefore deserves its 3 stars. The book-let is quite neat and the photos are shot in that "olde" national geographic way which is quite nice and being a huge fan of National Geographic I found this to be very witty indeed.
Rock is NOT dead - just on the radio.......2006-02-24
Rock is alive and well - just hanging out in the basement. TSOOL is proof, and a must have if your inner rocker is hungry.
Radio - at least the terrestrial type - is as dead as a doornail between the FCC dumbing it down to irrelevance and the payola going on with various record labels. If you want good music, you've got to find it on Satellite or by word of mouth.
Origin, Vol 1. has been getting heavy rotation in my cd player for longer than I can even remember. I also highly recommend 2001's Behind the Music.
Great band - lots of energy and excellent sound production.
Another very good Soundtrack Of Our Lives album - unfortunately it suffers from "Behind"'s same flaws.......2006-01-08
"Origin Vol. 1" should've learned from "Behind The Music"'s flaws, but they somehow manages to repeat the same mistakes. It's basically the exact same style just with different songs. And, once again, all the songs sound pretty much the same. Ebbot Lundberg is a decent singer, but he could definitely improve. He has a rough sounding voice which relatively fits the band's style. The lyrics aren't that interesting, but I don't think that was the intent of the album. It's essentially an album to rock out to. Like "Behind The Music", "Origin Vol. 1" has some standout tracks - these are "Believe I've Found", the hit "Bigtime", "Mother One Track Mind", "Transcendental Suicide" and "Heading For a Breakdown" (pretty much the first 5 songs). Unfortunately, unlike their previous album, not all of the songs are good here. The quality of these first five, though, definitely makes up for that. If you're a fan of garage rock or the band, you'll probably like this a lot. Recommended!
Highlights include:
"Believe I've Found"
"Transcendental Suicide"
"Bigtime"
"Heading For A Breakdown"
"Mother One Track Mind"
"Midnight Children" (kind of)
"Lone Summer Dream"
"Wheels Of Boredom"
"Borderline"
"Song For The Others" (sort of)
Superb Band Toiling in Relative Obscurity.......2005-11-30
This is a superb disc from top to bottom...well-crafted contemporary Rock n' Roll which has been largely ignored by the music industry...how long can bands of this caliber continue to sustain themselves devoid of airplay? It's a sad state of affairs when TSOOL, and other tight acts, like the Libertines, Stereophonics, Alkaline Trio, etc. can't crack the airwaves while other talentless, music industry-created crap is jammed down our throats (use your imagination...insert poseur act of your choice here...). Origin I is a great disc...it seems the only way these guys and others like them will survive is through good reviews and aggressive word-of-mouth campaigns...enjoy the music.
Proto-Who.......2005-07-12
TSOOL's Origin 1 is a not-bad collection of proto-Who-type songs. Fans of Behind the Music will not be disappointed, but I wish they'd gone further into the psychedelic revivalism that spawned such stellar cuts as "Sister Surround" and "Still Aging". This time out there are more misses than hits, though "Transcendental Suicide" lights up the CD player every time, and "Borderline" is a solid anthem. I hope with Origin 2, they devolve in just the right ways.

One of all-time best UK 1960's bands.......2003-07-26
An absolutely perfect anthology. Lots of first-time stereo....great sound and plenty of information. Get this and Volume 2 "Biff Bang Pow" before it's too late.
Too Bad They Didn't Get Along.......2003-05-19
These guys were great and Eddie Phillips is a highly under-rated guitarist who influenced Pete Townshend and Jimmy Page. If you like Shel Talmy's prodution on early Who songs, you will love this CD. After Eddie Phillips left the band, he was replaced by Ron Wood who shows up on Vol. 2.
This mod band rocks.......1999-12-17
Do you like the Who? Then you will love the Creation. Incredible English mod band from the 60's, they sung the lead track on the movie Rushmore ("Making Time") possibly the coolest rock song I have ever heard. The entire album is wonderful, except for the U.S. version of "How Does It Feel to Feel" (UK version is much better). The Creation is so good it is truly a mystery that they never hit it big. Wonderful stuff.

Curious '60s rock box from an even stranger label.......2007-03-01
The DRESSED TO KILL label, purveyors of punk and other nihilistic stuff, dabbles in some Sixties retro with their three disc compilation, "DAYTRIPPERS." The Sgt. Pepperish cover art collage includes such notables as Prince Charles, Paul Newman, Morris the Cat, Charlie Chaplin, Frankenstein's monster, Marilyn and Liza, a lit up jack o' lantern in silhouette and the infamous O.J. Simpson mugshot.
Some of the music here is almost as strange as the programming juxtapositions. A gentle early Donovan folk tune is followed by Captain Beefheart, Dave Davies comes just prior to the Lemon Pipers sole top 10 hit, Status Quo's "Pictures Of Matchstick Men" rocks out and then we get a schlocky Gene Pitney side.
The Beatles are here ("Cry For A Shadow") as is an interview snippet of John Lennon. Great originals like "Itchycoo Park," "Summer In The City" and "For Your Love" share space with total obscurities and odd cover versions. Jimi Hendrix, in his early lounge lizard persona appears, as do the pre-psychedelic Moody Blues.
A more eclectic mix of tunes can rarely be found. Altogether one interesting set. (No liner notes with this one.)

Album Description
The title implies prog rock excess. The Gothenburg sextet's previous three albums have all been doubles, housing 20-odd tracks each, but here finally is the Pocket Soundtrack - 12 songs, no filler, all killer, this melodically overloaded, mindbending but ultimately goodtime rock band in peak form. WEA. 2004.

Customer Reviews:
Great Album.......2006-03-20
I would have to say I like this album the best out of all there's. I like the more rocky and different sounding songs on this album. There is a bigger difference in songs on this album than Behiund The Music which I find a little monotonous. Great songs include, Transcendental Suicide, Bigtime, Mother One Track Mind, Royal Explosion and the great Age Of No Reply.I wish they made more albums like this where you can hear the guitarist really start to go for it (Age Of No Reply). The only complaint I have with the band is I would like to here more guitar solo's from there great guitarist. The album Rock's.
Pretty Darn Good.......2005-05-10
Hailing from Sweden (where all things must rock), The Soundtrack of Our Lives (TSOOL) are an awesome up-and-coming band. Paying homage to that most magical of all decades (the '60s) TSOOL wander into Beatles, Who, and Pink Floyd-territory. The opening track "Believe I've Found" starts the album off right, with it's neo-Beatles groove. "Bigtime" and "Heading for a Breakdown" are good, straight rockers, but "Trancendental Suicide" runs a bit too long for my tastes (the same could be said for "Age of No Reply"). "Wheels and Boredom" and "Midnight Children" are great, low-key songs that work really well...but not as well as "Mother One Track Mind" the band's single-a loud, angry rave-up about a controlling (...)that is going take over and kill us all (fun stuff). TSOOL's sound could be compared to a more reserved Oasis (an Oasis that whorshipped The Who more than The Beatles). I also detect a bit of that jingle-jangle Byrds sound...with a dash of The Move (see the last track "World Bank" a groovy pshychadelic trip of a song). TSOOL are basically a '60s influenced band. If you like nostalgia (or simply great rock) then you need to check out ORIGIN VOLUME 1. Though it may run two songs (and several minutes) too long, overall it works.
Orgin 1 delivers the rock goods, Swedish style.......2005-03-05
With expectations running high after 'Behind The Music', the follow-up 'Orgin 1' delivers the goods in catchy riff-oriented style. The tradeoff for less Stones-meets-Floyd is more hard-edged swagger of British trad rock bands like Oasis, Cast, and Ash. I don't know why, but the psychadelic nuances of The Bevis Frond come to mind, as well as the bouncy anthems of 70's glam. Does this make it a better album than the SOOL's breakthrough? Not necessarily. If anything, it's shows a band evolving, without straying too far away from their brand of melodic multi-coloured rock. Gone is the mind bending mysticism, enter dangerous power chords. Sweden's best musical export fails to disappoint.
Another great one!.......2005-01-26
The latest release from the Swedish sextet is another gem. Like the previous release "Behind the Music", "Origin Volume 1" is full of superb songs that you just can't get out of your head. If you liked "Behind the Music" you will definitely like this one as well.
The World Needs TSOOL.......2004-12-14
I may be biased since I shelled out $40 for the import version when it came out in October 2004, but I have to say, Origin 1 is another stellar album from one of the world's greatest and most anthemic rock bands, The Soundtrack Of Our Lives. They are on the same level as U2 or Oasis, but unfortunately, their sales do not show that because their first two albums, Welcome To The Infant Freebase and Extended Revelation were to pyschedelic and not commercially viable. But who cares about sales, when you crank out albums this mega. This is their fourth album as TSOOL, and it showcases a band at their peak in terms of producing lush melody driven rock gems with a great sense of musicianship that is largely absent in this day of Nu-Metal Rage Rockers and manufactured pop trash. They may not be terrible enough(yeah I said terrible!) to top the pop charts and that is why they are supreme. They could give it up today, and people 30 years from now will still be mystified and awed by their beautiful sound. With songs like Lone Summer Dream, Age of No Reply and A Song For The Others, how can you not be. Can't wait for Origin Vol2 which is slated for a Summer/Fall 2005 release!!!

The Creation were charged mid-'60s mod rockers whose catchy, well-constructed songs echoed the most aggressive work of the Beatles, Small Faces, the Kinks, and the Who. The group recorded a handful of blistering songs that rate among rock's most visceral, melodic, blistering three-minute nirvanas. These ahead-of-the-curve numbers were dramatically enhanced by Eddie Philips's delicately controlled feedback-drenched guitar work (heightened by the use of a violin bow sawed across the guitar strings with incredible malice). "Making Time," this collection's opener, is such a revved-up, anthemic number that fans of garage grace will not mind at all that three different versions of it are included. Other highlights include the loud, druggy "How Does It Feel to Feel" (based on a line from Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone") and a surprisingly poignant cover of Otis Redding's "That's How Strong My Love Is." There is also a companion volume that's quite nearly as essential. --Mike McGonigal
Album Description
First of a two volume set collecting all known recordings by the '60s mod/ pop band. 20 tracks, including the hit 'Making Time' and previously unreleased cuts. 1998 release.
Customer Reviews:
Painter men.......2006-02-03
The Creation never had the sort of commercial success that came to the likes of the Kinks and the Who, two bands whose most exciting and energetic moments were also captured by Shel Talmy, the Creation's producer. They also adopted the art-rock pop-art mod image of their peers and their guitarist Eddie Phillips pioneered the violin-bow techniques that distinguished their sound on groundbreaking singles like Making Time and Painter Man, which appeared on Shel Talmy's Planet label. Perhaps the lack of major label backing or a string of line up changes hindered their chances of fame.
At any rate, their exciting stage act was not to blame. During live performances of Painter Man, which reached no. 2 in Germany, for example, singer Kenny Pickett took to creating a spray painting, the finished canvas being slashed to pieces by violin bow or set on fire at the end of the show, to huge acclaim.
The band never released an album in their lifetime though there have been some compilations, The Complete Collection being the most comprehensive. It is split into 2 separately available CDs, Making Time and Biff Bang Pow! Both feature singles from the period 1966 and 1968, as well as unreleased tracks, alternative and stereo mixes, live performances and the like. Vol. 1 has the A-sides Making Time, How Does It Feel To Feel and If I Stay Too Long, with B-sides, while Vol. 2 features Painter Man, Life Is Just Beginning and Midway Down, with their B-sides. Well worth exploring.
hate to be the lone dissenter, but..........2000-07-15
I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. This is far from revolutionary, and actually fairly derivative. These guys lean more toward Herman's Hermits than the Who or Kinks. Lot's of sing-along verses, la-la-las, etc. Fairly lightweight 60s pop that you've heard a million times before. There are a few heavier-leaning cuts ("Making Time" is the standout), but not consistent enough to sustain it. The best thing I can say for it is that the guitar has a good crunch throughout.
A definitive comp of an influential Mod band.......2000-07-06
Fans of the mod-soaked Brit invasion stuff of the Who/Kinks/Action/Small Faces universe will enjoy this lengthy CD comp.
Searing guitar, snotty lyrics and Moon-esque drumming highlight this mesmerizing snapshot of the mid-60s mod era in England. The Creation is much more influential than you think today -- people even named a label after 'em (Creation Records, silly). Hey, if Pete Townshend was a member of this band's fan club, then you know they gotta rock!
Mesmerizingly Rocking.......1999-04-30
Of course, as a youngster I was more exposed to the likes of the Who and Kinks, both of whom I liked well enough (more so the Kinks because my dad loves them and used to rock out in his car to "Set Me Free"). Never *really* loved the Who in large part due to the, let's face it, lame vocals (except Townshend's vocals, which rock). Knew there had to be some other vintage Brit rock from back then and thanks to the Rushmore link, have discovered the Creation. It's brilliant. Indeed, at first listen sure sounds a lot like those other 60's Brit icon bands but since the Creation is new to me, it's like... like hearing the old Who with a good vocalist. The song "Making Time", I am sure you'll agree, is every bit the "hit" "My Generation" is. The first of many should-have-been hits on this cd.
This is it!.......1999-03-17
These guys were without a doubt a better mod band than the Who! Shel Talmy thought so (or something to that affect) and so do I. If you only know the Creation through "Making Time" (on the RUSHMORE soundtrack) this is where you can dig deeper. And it's just a start. Because there is a vol. 2!

Customer Reviews:
Quick Before It's Gone!.......2005-04-20
A little deeper than the excellent "Nuggets II" collection by Rhino, and much cheaper. This collection contains some excellent work from the mid-late sixties London pop psychedelic scene, a sampler if you will. It has hints of Mod and garage thrown in for good measure as well.
Most of the songs are catchy, introspective and a reflection of their times. I listened to this CD on my discman a lot when I was living in San Francisco and just taking a Sunday stroll through many of the different neighborhoods. The moods swing from beautiful to paranoid, and the CD is just as diverse as the Victorian blocks you cross in San Francisco. It takes you back to an age that is now gone of course, but this comp gives a good journey of what was happening in 'swinging London' aside from the big-shots of that time.
The only drawback to this collection is why isn't there a Vol II, or Vol III for that matter. It looks as if this collection began with high hopes, and then someone in the corporate office stopped it. A shame.
I enjoyed this CD very much.
