A CD named Senna.......2007-01-10

First, let me begin by saying I (was) a great fan of Senna, and continue to be so to this day. I have several of the C. Hilton books on his life, and also some memorabilia. I remain a huge fan of F1. Having said that....

This CD, for the Senna fan (and I cant imagine anyone else buying it) is a big treat. The booklet alone is very well done. The audio quality is decent, but sometimes irregular. There are many 1-3 minute long tracks of Senna speaking, but the sound is kind of low (perhaps due to the original source), so you find yourself turning the vol up and down alot. There is some amateur tributes on it as well, nicely done.

This CD is really more like a small glimpse through Ayrton's luggage than simply a collection of songs that try to describe him. There are a number of snippets and audio comments from Mansel, Prost, Murray Walker, Ron Dennis, Berger, and others. Don't be put off by the platter of songs listed; each one has a little story behind it, as explained in the booklet. This CD drops the listener into his hotel suite, in the days and weeks before Imola.

On the (somewhat) down side, the CD quality seems to be off a smidge; one of my CD players has a hard time with this one. However, I received this as a wonderful gift (thanks, Noodle!), so the trouble could be that it may have been purchased used?

In any event, worth having if you are a Senna fan. It is more of a mosaic, not just 10 or 12 songs he liked. Note that if it is still possible to purcahse this new, please do so as the money of course goes to the Senna Foundation.
