Product Description

Incredible rare collection of ALL original recordings featuring Dickey Lee. Beautifully mastered, these original recordings sound better than any other Dickey Lee CD on the market today. In 1962, Patches became a million seller. One of the "teenage disaster" songs which were popular at the time, it reached the pop top ten. Dickey Lee followed it with I Saw Linda Yesterday the same year and the cryptic Laurie (Strange Things Happen) in 1965. These three records would pave the way for a 40 year career for the soulful country singer. Dickey Lee had his greatest success as a country artist. His list of top 10 hits include Rocky, 9,999,999 Tears, Never Ending Song of Love and Angel, Roses and Rain. His gift for song writing and performing has endured as Dickey Lee continues to perform and write for other artists. 1. 9,999,999 Tears 2. Rocky 3. Patches 4. Never Ending Song of Love 5. I love this cd, it is the best!!! I would recommend it highly if your into the 60's era.

5 out of 5 stars this is one of the best CDs.......2006-02-07

this is one of the best Dickey Lee CDs I have heard. this one has most of his big hits. the only one missing is "Red, Green Yellow and Blue" an APCO 45 he had out around 1967/68. all the hits that are here, are the best recordings I have heard on a CD of Dickey Lee. I am most pleased with this CD. Keep up the good work. it is good to see a good recording of Dickey Lee hits.

5 out of 5 stars Dickey Lee: Great 70's country hits!.......2006-02-06

I wish this CD had better availability, as it has great Dickey Lee songs that are virtually lost otherwise. This is the only CD I've found with "Angels, Roses and Rain " on it. That and "9,999,999 Tears to Go" are great memories of 70's country gold that deserve preservation. Some wonderful memories on this CD...I'll probably go ahead and buy it used before it's gone!

5 out of 5 stars Great Collection.......2006-07-02

I am a new fan to this old band and the music is timeless. Because they are from Georgia and never received national air play, at least not in my home town of Dallas Tx. I never heard of them until I moved to Atlanta. Every track is good and great to jam while on the road or chill to around the house.

4 out of 5 stars Great Music, Weak Packaging.......2005-06-22

While this contains most of the songs that casual fans would consider dnc's best (they were actually selected by the band to please the fans), it's not the most well thought-out greatest hits collection I've ever heard. Heavy on cuts from the most popular records ("Mystery Road" and "Fly Me Courageous") the record nearly skips the last two releases and steers clear of rarities (except for the excessive live version of "Toy Never Played With"), never persuading the first-time listener that dnc was/is a great band by giving a sense of their uniqueness or their trajectory through 15 years (in 2000) of constant touring and recording. Some deep cuts or rarities might have helped with that. Also, I am disappointed with the quality of the mastering. Still, this material roughly coincides with their greatest hits live album and at least touches on all seven studio albums.

4 out of 5 stars Fallen angels and growing up........2003-01-03

To be honest, though I love this band and have met Kevn Kinney a couple times, I only listen to this CD for the first song on it and the last two songs on it. Those songs, particularly "Telling Stories," remind me of what I like about the band. Evocative lyrics, fun if wistful tone and a nice, homegrown acoustic feel to the music. When Drivin N Cryin start to rock out more, though, they lose me. I like it better when it's just the guitars and Kinney's gravelly voice.

4 out of 5 stars Hard Band to Anthologize.......2002-11-21

Drivin'n'Cryin' is one of those bands whose career does not easily lend itself to summarizing, mostly because of their idiosyncratic songwriting and a lack of real hit singles. That said, "Ultimate Collection" does a reasonable job of presenting this quirky band of modern southern rockers in a favorable light. Contemporaries of R.E.M. and the B-52s on the 1980s Athens/Atlanta rock scene, the band's music had of a regional flavor and they carried the torch of southern rock laid down by 1970S luminaries Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Allman Brothers.

Highlights on this package include five tracks (numbers 10-14) from their 1991 breakthrough "Fly Me Courageous," early classics "Honeysuckle Blue" and "Straight to Hell," and later triumphs "Indian Song" and "Telling Stories." As with any band that lacks obvious hits, it is always possible to quibble. Most obviously missing are "Check Your Tears at the Door" from "Whisper Tames the Lion," the lovely ballad "Right Side of Town," from "Wrapped in Sky" and their smokin' version of "Leaving on a Jet Plane" from their final, self-titled album.

Overall, a decent career retrospective from a horribly overlooked band that always deserved a bigger audience.

4 out of 5 stars A Very Good Cd, But...........2001-05-31

I love Drivin and Cryin. They always have been a southern, gritty, hard rock kind of band. All their songs have great hooks and the lyrics are deep. All the hits are on this one. Build a Fire, Fly Me Courageous, Straight To Hell, HoneySuckle Blue,etc...I would have given this cd 5 stars, but they left out a song that should have been on it. Around the Block Again should have been on there off of Fly Me Courageous. Other then that, its a great cd, and I would recommend it to anyone....

Album Description

This is music for kids with a rock `n' roll heart. Brady Rymer's Parent's Choice Recommended, iParenting Media Hot Product Award, and NAPPA Honors Award-winning "I Found It!" is a hip descendant of the happy, sing-along spirit of Motown, the party atmosphere of the E Street Band and Bruce Springsteen, and the warmth and heart of Bob Marley. Says Rymer, formerly of the RCA roots rock band From Good Homes, "I wanted this CD to be a soulful, funky, feel-good party for kids and their raised-on-radio parents, to show folks just how much fun they can have listening to good, happy music with people they love!" The songs encourage children to creatively explore new and familiar aspects of the world around them, and celebrate small but momentous achievements in a child's world. The infectious "Drawing on the Sidewalk" invites kids to show the world all that's in their hearts by using their imagination; "I Found It!" turns the loss of a loved toy into a celebration of! finding it; "Bathtub Soup" creates a deliciously silly meal from the stuff children bring to bathtime.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars One of our favorites.......2006-06-21

My 6 and 8 year old, love this CD. He's also great in concert if you get a chance to see him.

3 out of 5 stars Ok, not great.......2005-09-16

After reading all the reviews, I was expecting to love this CD. But the music starts to all sound the same. It's Brady's version of Bob Dylan-ish music with kid-like beats and words - but much of it is boring. It's not terrible, and my daughter gets a kick out of some of the words, but all in all, I suggest her other music CDs and I wouldn't recommend someone buy this one.

5 out of 5 stars Children's music that is fun for all ages.......2005-02-15

WOW! Brady's latest album is his best. The tunes are growing up (as are our kids). They are still young and fun, and yet "cool" enough to keep our 6 and 8 year old boys' attention.
I especially enjoy the title track "I Found It'.

5 out of 5 stars Your kids will love it and so will you!.......2005-01-06

This is one of those situation where a few years from now, you'll say, "I knew him when..." because there is no better kids music out there. The tunes are great and the lyrics capture the sweetness, silliness, and innocence of youth. Brady has 2 kids of his own and is well aware that kids' music is listened to by both kids AND parents. If your kids are like most, not only do they not mind repetition, they relish it, so it is a huge bonus that this music is so great to listen to. I really like this album, with Look at My Belly a close second, while my son's favorite is Fall Leaves. Buy 'em all and you won't be sorry.

5 out of 5 stars so glad I FOUND IT!.......2004-12-30

This is the children's album we've been looking for. "I Found It" is a pretty apt title. The kids adore Brady's tunes and-- incredibly-- so do we. Nothing against Raffi or baby belugas, but a lot of music aimed at kids is pretty hard to take. Some of Brady's stuff, on the other hand, stands up to the best of adult rock. If your own idea of great music is Neal Young or Dave Mathews, you are in for a treat. We stumbled upon this, then went and bought the other albums by Brady. All are wonderful.

5 out of 5 stars David Cassidy: The RCA Years.......2005-03-15

Jaded with his squeaky clean Partridge image by the mid seventies, Cassidy jumped ship from his failing Partridge Family Bell label, later helmed by Arista Records and signed with RCA. Although many of his teenybopper fans grew up and moved on, his steadfast fanbase snapped up his solo material with equal fervour despite the Powers That Be that decided that Cassidy was long over. Shunned by the USA, Cassidy had continued success in the UK and Japan and his later LPs noteably "Gettin' It In The Streets" received only limited release here on vinyl and was hard to find. Now, decades later New York based Razor & Tie released a best of RCA years sampler that includes standout performances: "Get It Up For LOve", "January", "Darlin'", "When I'm A Rock 'n' Roll Star", "Common Thief", "On Fire" & "Tomorrow". Although some great tunes are absent, this selection was carefully prepared and a "Must Have" for fans who missed these great LPs the first time around. Includes great tunes from the following RCA vinyl, neatly remastered: "The Higher They Climb, The Harder They Fall", "Home Is Where The Heart Is" and "Gettin' It In The Streets". Reasonably priced compliation that proves that Cassidy successfully transcends his Partridge years! Worth the price!

3 out of 5 stars VERY INTERESTING.......2005-02-19

I was so glad this when this cd came out. I was finally able to listen to the "mature" David Cassidy albums released on the RCA label in the 70's. My humble opinion? Only ok. Sounds very dated some years later. Still, there are some good songs to be found. "Common Theif", "Get It Up For Love" is excellent, and "Tomorrow". Fans should check this out.

5 out of 5 stars PUTS MANY SO CALLED STARS TO SHAME.......2004-01-29

I have owned this recording since the release date, and i agree it is a cd never to be without.Although i still like his pop stuff that hit the UK in the early to middle 70's this just shows what talent as a warm tunefull singer he is,only one problem, arista where is the "dreams are nuthin'more than wishes" album going to get released? that also was a good un.

5 out of 5 stars why can't people hear how great he is?.......2002-05-13

I bought the original albums to this cd when they came out in the 70's (at least the first two). I loved 'em then and I love 'em now! I wish the entire 3 record set could be available 'cause they left out some great music! "This Could Be The Night" and "Love In Bloom" among the ones that come to mind. David never sounded better in my opinion. It ticks me off that David has never been given the recognition he deserves. I would recommend this album to anyone and that includes the music critics that think David has no talent. Keep making the great music David! You still have plenty of fans to buy all the albums you can make!!!

4 out of 5 stars Could Also be Called the RCA Years or Cassidy's "Abbey Road".......2000-01-30

Only the most steadfast fans of The Partridge Family and early David Cassidy solo career followed him into a somewhat darker period ending with these 3 albums. Afterwards, David himself left music for a time. It has been said that it was the fans who "grew up" and left. Perhaps, but I believe it was a combination of things; Poor handling and writing of the Keith Partridge Character - especially as his popularity grew, also the fact that David himself continued to walk further away from his fan BASE, and yes, his fans DID grow up - so we were both headed in opposite directions. That combination brought record sales to a snails pace - to the point where the 3rd LP never surfaced at all in the US. These efforts did bring some critical acclaim - but at what cost?. That said, this CD offers a rare glimpse into David Cassidy himself as he was given more discretion than every before to define himself musically. There are some nice pieces here with the group America's influence and backing vocals on several cuts; Gerry Beckley, Dewey Bunnell (sans Dan Peek). Also some nice Beach Boy influence, among them "Darlin' " and the refreshing and upbeat tune "January" with Bruce Johnston on background vocals. Cassidy friend Bill House brings collaborative song writing and background vocals (he goes way back) too and in particular his own tune "Common Thief" which comes off nice after "Massacre on Park Bench" -- which you only get the final line here. (now THAT was dark - and "self loathing"). Dan Campbell

5 out of 5 stars At least 90% Original Performers on these CD's.......2006-04-30

All 3 previous reviewers have claimed that all, or most of these tunes are re-recordings that are NOT by the original Artists. Well, allow me to mention that I have not heard the CD's, however, I have listened to nearly all of the Samples that Amazon has listed above. After a close listen and comparison to discs in my own collection, I am convinced that at least 90% of the songs ARE indeed original, the rest may have been recorded especially for this CD by Artists that have a very similar sound. I've also been around long enough to recall nearly all of these hits, and have heard them over and over via many different venues. I've heard them live, on the radio, as well as on the Toob over the years. A great collection of originals as well as a few by the NOT original singers.

1 out of 5 stars Read the reviews before you buy.......2005-04-05

As the previous reviews pointed out, most of these are not the original recordings and definitely not worth the money. I would give it 0 stars if I could.

1 out of 5 stars Disappointingý Not the original recordings!.......1999-05-20

This recording would probably be OK if you had never heard the original recordings. The fine print on the jacket reads "New stereo recordings". I guess someone has decided to tamper with the success of the original recording, because the "remixs" are not all that good. And some cuts sound like they may have been re-recorded recently by the remaining members of the group.

1 out of 5 stars Almost No Originals.......1999-03-28

Look for these songs elsewhere if you want all original versions. What a gyp.

4 out of 5 stars Old Classics! .......2007-05-26

How can you not enjoy these old sounds as you drive down the coast line of California with your CD blasting out these classic hits! Memories of high school and days of surfing at Santa Cruz will come back home to you - even if you lived in Iowa!

Good feeling music - no words to get in the way of the great sounds. Makes this 61 year old former surfer feel like a teenager again - in fact, it makes me want to get out the old dusty surfboard and buy some new wax and head for the beaches!
