Editorial Reviews

Product Description
As the Progressive rock scene was dying in the whole wide world during the Eighties, this kind of music was at its apex in Japan during the same period. In the same way, the movement was spreading out worldwide in the Nineties, whereas Japan was struggling for life. Nevertheless, bands like NOVELA, OUTER LIMITS or GERARD can be proud of being the starting point of other noticeable groups: among them, WAPPA GAPPA distinguishes itself. After a first domestic release published in 1996, the band of the charming singer Tamami YAMAMOTO is eventually revealed to all the fans. This fact could only be confirmed by the issue of "A Myth" on the Musea label two years later. With such gifted musicians, an incredible guitarist, a great love for symphonism and an innate sense for melody, they could obviously not slip away from talent and success. About six years later, WAPPA GAPPA allows us one more time to appreciate its skills with "Gappa". This 2004 release bears out the group has not lost any of its qualities: we can even say that time have them improved. Undoubtedly, the listeners are going to be carried away by this unique album !

    Album Description

"A Myth" (1998) is the second album by WAPPA GAPPA, a group whose sound is resolutely original. The nippon musicians combine the lyricism of PAGEANT with inspired neo Progressive sequences and fiery jazz-rock, featuring superb guitar parts throughout, as well as intelligently restrained female vocals in Japanese… A "Progressive" group in the true sense of the term !
