Album Description
Recorded live in the studio, this CD captures the essence of the Curvature Quartet the brilliant saxophonist Calder Spanier (Charlie Hunter Quartet fame). Mind-blowing improvisational interplay, unusual rhythms, and instrumental virtuosity combine to a highly original and progressively funky acoustic jazz sound. The ensemble includes Jack West on acoustic guitar, Calder Spanier on soprano and alto saxophones, Joel Davel on marimba, and well-known Bay Area drummer Ricky Carter performing on his hybrid percussion/drum kit, with a appearance by Brian Hill on guitar. Carving out new territory in the world of acoustic sounds that you can actually to without hurling, Big Comet Headed Earth steers completely clear of the "smooth jazz" and "out jazz" population centers. This is real, creative music played by four people live in the studio.Customer Reviews:

Album Description
Glide is the brainchild of Will Sergeant (of Echo & The Bunnymen), a man regarded by many to be one of the most influential guitarists of the last three decades. Since "Weird As Fish" in 1978, Sergeant has released a flood of limited edition solo EPs and albums, but this is the first one to feature proper chord changes"Curvature Of The Earth" was recorded at Sergeant's own studio, The Pod in Lancashire, over a 4 week period with engineers Dave Buchanan and Mike Hunter. Sergeant, who plays all the instruments on the album, picked the final eleven tracks from over seventy compositions he had stored on his computer, and spent a day completing each one.

Ian- let Will write the next Echo & Bunnymen album!.......2004-12-28
If Echo and The Bunnymen were putting stuff like this out with just a little more umph! (perhaps John Leckie producing?) they would be as relevant today as they were in the 80s.
