Timmy Gatling's album is almost as good as Guy's debut album featuring Teddy Riley and Aaron Hall. In fact it sounds so similiar production wise and vocally. It is nearly as good. NO JOKE. Some songs e.g. "Concentrate On You" sound like they could easily be included on Guy's first album. Rumour has it that Timmy Gatling actually appears on the cover of Guy's debut album instead of Damion Hall. So if you like Guy you will like this. Why is this hard to get album so cheap on Amazon? Take advantage of this while you can.

great heavy metal music.......2007-01-30

Although this CD is less than 5 minutes long @ 2 songs, I think it is the best 5 minutes of heavy metal music, guitar riff, drum line, and bass line combinations I've ever listened to... For musicians who aren't really in a band to make such a great album, they expertly combined a lot of the elements I look for in speed metal. I wish I could find more music of this quality and type, anyone know of any great albums like this? I like and already know about Megadeth, Dream Theater, Tool, A Perfect Circle, Smashing Pumpkins, etc... (p.s. I think Metallica is kinda lame because they re-do songs that don't really mean anything to anybody... "Whisky in the Jello Jar-O"? give me a break!)

Not bad for a cartoon.......2006-06-02

This album is quite good, on a musical standpoint. It's very silly, of course, but the music is suprising good (especially the song entitled "Timmy Livin' a Lie") When this came out, I was already a fan of the show, but never got around to buying it. I stumbled across is and for the price offered, I thought why not. Well worth what I spent. I only gave it 3 stars because there are only 2 songs on the album. It's what you would expect from an album produced by Parker and Stone, some goofy tunes that you can still rock out to.

The only song this record is worth to get, TT's super 70s Hit "Why Can't We Live Together" is in Mono sound. It also includes an awful "Disco-remixed" version of the song. It is not worth the price!

Timmy Curran has a velvet voice and makes beautiful, mellow music that reminds me of a soft breeze, or a sunset or something that embraces you in a most gentle way. His voice is alluring and arousing and best exemplified in Daylights Coming and Comatose. You can feel that he has the ocean in his blood and bones as his music rolls over you and allows you to dive under and be set free. I hope he comes to play Amsterdam soon!!! He reminds me of Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, Xavier Rudd, Kelly Joe Phelps...yet in reality he only shares the genre as his talent stands alone. I play his songs near daily...that's the effect he has on this music-obsessed person.

I can only hope this guy keeps making music. I saw him open for the acoustic Foo Fighters show. While he sounded a little more 'full' with a drum set behind him (he doesn't in the album), the songs are still great acoustic guitar songs.

The song One More Try is just so good - whoever wrote that song should be knighted. I think Timmy T should make a huge comeback in 2005, maybe writing a song that sounds exactly the same as One More Try but this time saying One More Try REEEEMIX and the title of the song would be One More Try 2005. I think Timmy T should have gone on Rock Star: INXS, because he'd probably win.

Classic Freestyle!!.......2001-11-13

I bought the single of "Time After Time" back in 1990 on 12" single. It was a hot track receiving a lot of airplay on a Buffalo, NY radio station called Kiss 98.5. It's a great song that I have listened to for the past 11 years, and have never tired of. It's catchy lyrics, pumping freestyle beat make it a "must own" for anyone that loves dance music, especially Freestyle dance music.

Not a complete waste........2004-03-31

About the only good thing you can say about the movie is that it has a song or two worth hearing. "I Will Show The World" is good. So is "Magic Mystery Show", though it has no reason to be in this film.

Listen to the score, not the songs........2001-03-30

This is a brief review of the score written for the movie, not the movie itself, a distinction perhaps lost on the earlier reviewers. The songs, like all songs that hitch rides on score albums, are to be ignored.

A fun, brass-heavy action score. Lots of color and movement. Plenty of evocative, muscular string writing. It is, perhaps, John Williams-esque in character with a touch of James Newton Howard, but really, it's a Lee Holdridge show. Lee Holdridge has a deft hand with quick mood changes, working them effortlessly into the fabric of the music. There isn't a lot in the hummable theme department, however, which may render it not too useful for putting the little kids to sleep with.

Far better music than the movie is likely to have deserved.

The nerve of MGM........2001-03-19

NIMH 2 was bad enought, why in God's name did they have to release a soundtrack based on it? I'd never loved the idea of NIMH 2 being a musical & after seeing it on cable TV I never knew MGM would sink the NIMH universe that low, do you really think MGM is gona make any cash from a soundtrack with thoses God awful songs that nealy destoryed the NIMH experience for some people?

Buy the 1st soundtrack, only 2 songs (same song, 2 different singers) & the rest is Jerry Goldsmith's wonderfull music score, don't bother with NIMH 2.

HORRID!.......1999-08-04

One of the main flaws with the movie was that, like so many others, the others felt that the only way to keep children's attention was to throw in a song every 5 minutes. It made for a terrible movie, and terrible songs. A must miss if ever there was one!

While the title tune is a classic R&B classic, the other songs on the CD seem to be the ramblins of the songwriter.

E-Z Soul Masterpiece w. a Message.......2002-01-25

What can you say..."Why Can't We Live Together" is just as powerful as Marvin Gaye's "What's Goin' On" and just as beautiful and relevant today as when it was released in the mid-70's. For people who love this sound I would also highly recommend cd's by Willie (Little Beaver) Hale, Benny Latimore, and George McRae...all stablemates of Timmy Thomas and all of their greatest hits are still available. In fact the studio band at the time included T.T. on organ, Latimore on piano and Little Beaver on guitar and an unknown Jaco Pastorius on bass! All of these sessions were recorded in a little over a year and a half and capture a sound that seems timeless now...
I love this music.There's no nostalgia, just beauty.

There MUST be a better master tape for this album.......2001-11-20

My one-star rating reflects the quality of this album's transfer to CD, NOT the quality of the album itself, which is excellent. Collectables seems to have used a master tape several generations removed from the original, and a damaged master, at that. So, in addition to plenty of tape hiss, we get a song ("Funky Me") that ping-pongs back and forth across the stereo with another song superimposed over it, backwards, on the left channel. This disc is the reason why I'm wary of Collectables' CDs.

Simplicity of the soul.......2001-03-22

As a vinyl records colllector i must add few words first. I don't often recommend buying a CD, but in that case i must give up. Timmy Thomas "Why can't we live together" is a powerful masterpiece which sould be found in every soul music listener collection. What a great touch, from the bottom of his deepened heart, with great vibrations of the organ, and a warm percussion, who should want to have more. It's such a shame that this kind of music cannot be found or created nowadays. After the first listening to this CD you won't take it out of the CD player, i can assure you this. I hope that after your first try, you'll know if there's a chance that "We could live together" happily after. Buy it now, you won't regret it.

I got this CD for one song, "One more try". The song sounds so much better on the radio than it does on this CD. It sounds like he recorded that song in an empty church on the CD. I was very disappointed in the quality of the song. It doesn't even sound like the same song. Totally sucked!!!

I can't believe such a talented singer would just dissapear. I love the cassette, now I am glad to know that is available in CD. Timmy T if you are out there, I wish you would start your career again. What are you up to? There are very singers I like and Timmy T is one of them!!

This is one of the most amazing songs ever. I heard it on one of those flashback countdowns and remembered how much I loved it back when I first heard it. It is one of those timeless songs, I'm surprised more people haven't heard it. What a touching ballad!

i just received this cd today and i immediately put it in the player! this is the 4th time thru that i have listened to it. right now, my fave song, "one more try" is playing and i am in tears! its very sweet! i first heard it on the flashback lunch hour on a radio station back in april and i've been looking for this cd ever since. i'm glad i finally found it! its wonderful!
