Editorial Reviews
TRUE NORTH return with their follow-up to 2003s "Put Your Nightlife Where Your Mouth Is" 12" and 2000s "We Speak In Code" LP/CD!
"Somewhat Similar" finds TRUE NORTH pushing the limits of their distinctive sound, once dubbed "the future of hardcore" by MAXIMUMROCKNROLL! The music pulses and builds, creating a fluctuating structure, capable of unexpected twists. Details come through without drowning in the din; woven through melodic passages, invovative drumming, and a blend of powerhouse guitars.
TRUE NORTH have toured repeatedly with BLOOD BROTHERS, RED SCARE, ORCHID, LIGHTNING BOLT, RED LIGHT STING, and TWELVE HOUR TURN!

MISS ERIN HAY HAS MADE COUNTRY MUSIC COME ALIVE!.......2003-07-14
Miss Erin, she has the most beautiful voice and so pleasent to listen to.
In my own opinion,I think she should be rated highly as a female
country artist status.
I have noticed in a short period of time that Miss Erin, not only
done her homework in this country music industry,But in my own
opinion, she has picked out some excellent tiles of few of her songs as Big City, which was sung and put out by Merle Haggard &
another song she picked out Walk The Floor over You by late
Ernest Tubb.
Once you listen to this country gal,I beleave you will be hoocked
on her music for life.
Please give it a try and listen to her beautiful voice,Thats how
great it sounds.
Miss Erin,I beleave, she is already a country star,So again folks
if you are looking for good down to earth tradition honky tonk
country music, than go to your favorite music store and pick out
Erin Hay to put in your cd collection.Again thats how great she
sounds!.
God Bless,Miss Erin Has Gone Country All The Way.
Too country for everyone else is just right for Erin.......2002-09-08
This was, as far as I know, Erin's debut. Erin sounds like a cross between Tammy and Loretta, and those are two of her main influences. This album includes covers of their songs (Your good girl's gonna go bad and Honky tonk girl). The other main influence on Erin's music is Dolly, but Erin waited until her second album (The circle, which I've also reviewed) to cover any Dolly songs. There are other covers here, including Autumn's not that cold, which was first recorded by Lorrie Morgan. Traditional fans need not panic - Erin does the song her way. In the liner notes, Erin says she was to make music to make Roy Acuff proud - and she calls him Mr Acuff, so you know she means it.
There are some original songs here, including Poison of your kiss, I got the blues again and the title track, Honky tonk heaven.
Following the recent major label signing of traditional country singer Elizabeth Cook, perhaps Erin Hay will get a similar chance, which she certainly deserves. If Erin gets a major label deal, she will be given access to the best songwriters. Unlike Elizabeth, Erin does not write her own songs, but she has all the other qualities needed for success. If traditional country is truly on the way up again, Erin is ready to take advantage. If not, Erin will continue to record it anyway, doing her bit to keep it alive.
Finally Country Enough.......2002-05-20
Honky Tonk Heaven... An Impressive collection!.......2002-05-16
When I first heard the title cut, "Honky Tonk Heaven", from this album, I knew the entire CD would be just as great. The entire recording is outstanding. Erin has a voice that is strong and can carry itself through both the ballads, as well as the touching and sentimental selections.
I Love every song on this CD, and it's evident how much hard work and sincerity has gone into the making of this album. Erin clearly shows her unique vocal style on songs like "You're A Lesson I've Already Learned", "If The Phone Don't Ring", and "Poison Of Your Kiss" to name a few. Erin sings these songs with such conviction and emotion, that you feel your thoughts drift away into the music.. She does this especially well in the way she sings the ballad, "Autumn's Not That Cold". The track "Bad Luck" is a fun upbeat song, with a really nice chorus.
Other highlights on this CD, include an impressive recording of "There Goes My Everything", and "Honky Tonk Girl", (a hit made famous by Loretta Lynn) Erin's version is as equally great, as that of the Living Legends'.
This CD, in it's entirety is a magnificent collection of songs. There are so very few who produce great Traditional Country the way that Erin can... she has a style all her own!
I highly recommend this excellent release to anyone who Loves great Country music.
ERIN HAY is a real class act!!
Erin sure makes "country" Proud.......2002-05-11
