Psychopuls is the second album by a polish group Lizard and first new material release since 1997. W Galerii Czasu was a mix of UK, ELP and some obvious Crimson influences. Psychopuls is much more darker and sinister, reminding us the "Starless" era of KC with some electronical touches of present day Crimson. In fact, compositions like "Psychopuls # 001 Part 2" or "Psychopuls # 004" could easly find their places in one of two first albums of Wetton-Bruford era King crimson. The latter is almost a remake of "Larks' Tongues In Aspic Part 2". And "Psychopuls # 003 Part 3" reminds me of "The Talking Drum". On the other hand we have a beautiful (and more original) "Psychopuls # 003 Part 2" giving us the time to take a deep breath before we once again will be surrunded by dark and sinister noises.

The musicians are very skilled. Especially the drummer Mariusz Szulakowski deserves a mention. Damian Bydlinski writes some interesting and clever lyrics, fiting good to the concept of music.

You probably noticed that the album isn't too original. That's the major problem. If you don't care for that you'll be rewarded with some enjoyable music. Who knows, maybe you'll like it more then today's a little bit soulless releases by the Crimson King
