Product Description
Tuscaloosas' tri-guitar powered smash n' roll titans, the Dexateens, cordially invite you to kick the shit offa your shoes and partake in the sanctifin' sounds of the new rising South on their Estrus Records debut full length testament, THE DEXATEENS CD! Recorded by Tim Kerr in three separate sessions that included two at the fast becoming legendary Sarcophagus Studios and one other in Alberta City Alabama at 600 studios on broken gear in their friends grandmother's rental house, these boys deliver 13 tracks of nitro-crack fueled Black Flag meets Black Oak Arkansas "skillet rock" stomp that head-on's like a mosh pit at a monster truck rally! High-energy, southern-fried punk 'n' roll honed on the same house party circuit that sparked the likes of Man or Astro-Man?, The Quadrajets and The Immortal Lee County Killers. While comparisons to their comrades in arms are inevitable THE DEXTEENS have honed their own brand of three guitar spit n' shine, pepperin' their power chords with Byrdsian guitar bendin' bravado and torn up vocal harmonies that will have you kickin' yer heels so hard you'll bust thru the boards! So, slap on those shit-kickers, reinforce the porch and get ready for the moonshine fueled, 44 Magnum propelled, Mountain Man Rock get down of THE DEXATEENS! Recorded by TIM KERR. Sleeve design by ART CHANTRY.

5 out of 5 stars hardcore Southern rock.......2007-05-07

More people should listen to the Dexateens. This little rock band from Tuscaloosa mixes influences like Skynard (of course) and the Allman Brothers (duh)with Uncle Tupelo, Wilco, Old 97s, and even more unexpected sounds like Lambchop and the Silver Jews. Hardwire Healing is possibly their best record (though fans of pure cruncy guitar might prefer their eponymous debut cd), blending country and rock sounds with intelligent lyrics. If you're ever in Tuscaloosa, check out a live show, too-- they rock!

5 out of 5 stars FINALLY a band that ROCKS!!!.......2007-04-05

I accidentally came across this album yesterday. I was blown away by how good it was. I've been trying to find a new band for a while that could fill the void created by all the emo bands. Most new bands I've tried out, had one or two goods songs, but never really contributed anything classic. This album would be a massive success, if it was given radio time. But thats not going to happen, so any success will have to be spread by word of mouth. If you like guitar driven, bluesy, gritty rock, then buy this album.

5 out of 5 stars for a great time BUY THIS RECORD!.......2007-03-29

If you have not yet made yourself familiar with the Dexateens, please do so NOW. Hardwire Healing is chock-full of the earnest verve that's missing in most of today's music. A diamond in the rough? That would be an understatement. This will be your favorite record of 2007.

1 out of 5 stars "Fried".......2005-02-15

The Dexateens billed as a Southern Fried Rock band?...Let's just leave it at "fried."

4 out of 5 stars Thunders down South.......2005-02-05

Johnny Thunders bids farewell to his beloved devotees in NYC and heads south of the Mason-Dixon line. After months off bopping around the honkytonks and more than a few unpleasant run-ins with the local yokel, that famous southern hospitality finally starts to win him over. One kudzu-covered day, while hitching down a long stretch of 'Bama scenic byway, he happens upon one of the worst bus wrecks ever. Headline reads: Mick Jagger Dead! But the show must go on. Thunders, being the seasoned vagabond of the bunch, wastes no time in flagging down the next ride. Before they know it, Johnny, Keith and the boys are headed to their next big gig in Tuscaloosa. The rest is/was history. And who was that mysterious man who picked the boys up in their time of need? Why, it was Cooter....of course.

1 out of 5 stars Rock Fan.......2004-10-13

This album isn't a play again and again kind of album. If you want a thumpin good sound, I recommend the Quadrajets The World's On Fire.

2 out of 5 stars Let Down.......2004-08-29

Had high hopes after reading some reviews, but if I had it to do over again, I'd spend my money somewhere else. This is an album you'll only want to hear once, unless you like frazzled sounds instead of music. Most of the album, the "music" was frantic and intentionally busy for my taste, like the musicians were trying too hard. Just didn't make me glad I bought it.

5 out of 5 stars The Dexateens.......2004-03-09

Well, first off I'd like to congratulate this band for getting where they are. I live in the town where they play and its really amazing to see them get more noteriety and actually have a cd that you can buy in music stores. The cd is really great. It's mostly just balls out rock n' roll, i don't want to describe their music by saying it sounds like "so and so" meets "so and so". The cd is really good tho, they even have an acoustic track which suprised me because ive never seen them play softer stuff at their shows, but the cd is great and definitely worth buying.

Album Description

This is the new eleven track circuit breakin' shot of southern fried get down from that twang and tumble tornado known as The Dexateens. Whereas the band's self-titled 2004 Estrus debut showcased these 'Bama boys' tattered tri-guitar raucous rock blaze, "Red Dust Rising" reaches deeper down into their southern gospel roots with songs about love, heartbreak, friendship, and life in the new rising south. Less Black Flag meets Black Oak...more Gram Parsons bareback riding Crazy Horse thru a backwoods brushfire with a six-pack, six-string, and six shooter blazing. Recorded by Tim Kerr.
