Have gotten a bit tired of seeing so many tribute CD releases flooding the market these days, but I thought this reggae tribute to Mick, Keith and the boys wasn't bad. Tunes here I thought showed the most effort was Toots & The Maytal's "Start Me Up", Sugar Black's "Jumping Jack Flash", The Heptone's "Satisfaction" and the Andrew Francis homage of "Under My Thumb". Strictly for die-hards.

First. The production sounds terrible. Second. The music sounds even worse. It has a very slick production sound that lends itself to bubble gum sort of music. Not Reggae. I thought it was a joke at first but it is not. We resold it after we bought it.

This is a very entertaining set of tunes. The groups are diverse and almost all of the tracks bring something new to the Stones tunes without taking them over. The (2) love songs may not translate as well but Start Me Up, Jumpin Jack Flash, and You Can't Always Get What You Want are terrific! These are fun covers to mix in on party play lists.

Fine Rolling Stones tribute album. Various reggae bands play well known Stones songs. Most I like "Start Me Up" by Toots and the Maytals, "Jumpin' Jack Flash" by Sugar Black, "Paint It Black" by Chalice, "Honky Tonk Woman" by Glenn Ricks and "Brown Sugar" by Ken Boothe.

Cuando observas el tracklisting del disco, crees que el disco es una maravilla, pero escuharlo es una cosa diferente. La mayoria de las versiones contienen el sello original de los artistas que la interpretan. Lo mejor del disco: "19th nervous brakdown" (vale el disco), la versión de "Tumbling Dice" de Linda Ronstand, "Gimme Shelter" y "Jumping Jack Flash" (magistral), del resto nada que resaltar. Éste disco no es para ti si no eres un verdadero fanático de los Stones

Quite disappointed with this album. Although the artists are all top notch, the renditions are poor at best. Aretha's should have been a gospel flavor, not the disco beat used. By listend to many of the tracks, I would guess that they were recorded in the late seventies.

"power in a Jagger-Richards song".......2000-05-08

There is simply a unique and quite recognizable power in a Jagger-Richards song that can't be denied. This compilation is a tribute to this pair's songwriting genius, fourteen songs appear on this album, with some of the most talented artists perforing their work.

A few stand outs - "NO EXPECTATIONS" (Johnny Cash) with his "Folsom Prison Blues" tempo, is really different and entertaining - "TUMBLING DICE" (Linda Ronstadt) does real well with her distinctive style - "BROWN SUGAR" (Little Richard) high-voltage approach is simply electrifying.

This is not just a toe-tapping CD, but pure energy one must experience if you're a Rolling Stone fan. Highly recommend this to all ages, a major surprise, a must buy for the young and old music fan!

Album Description

This CD is not meant to take the place of any Rolling Stones recording. We created it with great respect for the original songs, but with the intention of seeing how they might sound if the Stones had recorded them in an acoustic fashion. Although no electric guitars were used in this digital recording, every effort was made to retain the original flavor of the Stones. As every true Stones fan will note, however, on a few of the tracks we couldn't resist the impulse toward a little originality. During the late seventies, after being exposed to innumerable Elvis impersonators as well as the phenomenon of Beatlemania, I decided a tribute to still another great musical aggregation was in order. And so in 1979 our group, the Rolling Clones, was formed. During the next decade we toured extensively throughout California and, thanks to our road crew and our many loyal Clones fans, played an average of sixteen shows per month. When we became the first Rolling Stone tribute band ever to play Las Vegas, our reputation seemed to explode beyond the boundaries of the western states and we became known in other parts of the country as well.

I have many memories - some just a little hazy now - of that wonderful period in my life when I was first privileged to be Mick Jagger for the night.

We have tried to include something for everyone on this CD, from the chilling voodoo sound of "Sympathy for the Devil" to the very obscure and rare "Memo from Turner". By special request, we have also added "2000 Light Years from Home" as well as the early London/ABKCO hits.

You gotta be kidding me! I bought this partly based upon the other reviews. Its atrocious. 3rd rate lounge singers no less. I think the other reviewers must have been listening whilst smoking their crack pipes. Don't buy!

Fine Rolling Stones tribute album. The songs sound surprisingly good for being recorded without direct participation of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Most I like "Brown Sugar", "It's Only Rock'n'Roll (But I Like It)", "Honky Tonk Woman", "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" and "Jumpin' Jack Flash".

Highly recommended , especially the song " As tears go by " , I am very impressive on the arrangement of beautiful string instruments and the mix of orchestra in the song , this new version of Stones is much improved by Jimmy Lee , is more soul touching and moving than ever . It is one of those song that you would hit the repeat button again and again , although the rest of the songs are great too .

Rolling Clones. Para todos los fans de los Stones, las canciones suenan muy bien en tono acústico, quién se habría podido inmaginar "Honky Tonk Woman", "Satisfaction", "Jumping Jack Flash" con guitarras acústicas, pues este cd las reune todas. This CD will surprise the naysayers! If you doubt the integrity of cover bands, then check this one out! Jimmy's vocals remind me of the live Mick sound, and the instrumentation is right on! This is the Unplugged album the Stones should have done! Watch for the beautiful string arrangement on "As Tears Go By"...very nice.
