Digitally Remastered Edition that Combines the Tracks of Two Original LPs on to a Single Compact Disc Along with a Bonus Track. The New York-based Mellow Folk-rock Artist (With Latin Influences) was Half of the Duo of Alzo and Udine who Produced an Album in 1968 Produced by Jeff Barry. In 1971, Alzo Went Solo and Released "Looking for You" in 1971, Followed by "Takin So Long" in 1973. This Disc Adds the Song "i Want You to Be Part of Me" that Didn't Appear on Either of the Studio Albums.

after enjoying the first album and then being even more surprised that the second one not only existed but was very good indeed. easy to listen to, smooth, love the 12-string sound, nice melodies....but his voice when it gets really high
is an aquired taste.
i was very sad to find out that he recently passed away.
at least he found that people do still enjoy his music.

Sad News.......2004-02-05

I was a fan and neighbor to Alzo for many years. I loved his music since I saw him live in 1973. Unfortunately Alzo passed away on February 2, 2004 after suffering a heart attack. He will be missed.

This singer's music (Alzo) has been on my mind off and on for many years and I have been looking for Alzo's first album for as long with no success to date. Fun songs you will hum or sing
along with - unusual but melodic.

I can only vouch for Alzo's original release "Alzo", a solo album. Back in 1970 Hartford CT there was a small New England (but hip) record chain called "Integrity in Music" that was just that. They ran a radio ad about that hard to find but gotta have folk album "Alzo". It was hard to find anyone who knew much about him. His ballads, and evocative all-original songs, exquisite 12 string quitar, piano and vocals surpassed anything I'd ever heard, and I was a big fan of Batdorf & Rodney, Aztec Two-Step, Buffalo Springfield, Tony Jo White. Perhaps someday someone will release a CD of the original "Alzo" solo. The duo album "Alzo & Udine" was good, but not up to the stellar solo album. His full name is Alzo Fronte, his best tunes are "Looks Like Rain", "You know me, I know you". I'd play it in the car and passengers would just stop talking and say "fantastic, who is that?". Now if anyone knows about an even more obscure genius, Dick Trakey and his album "Riverman", well life on planet Earth would be complete. Would like to hear from ...............

Alzo is endearing and enduring........2005-08-31

I first encountered Alzo's music in 1971 while overseas in the military. (The base stores featured many albums from unknown and/or aspiring musicians.) His first album ("Lookin' For You" or just "Alzo") has been an all-time favorite of mine ever since, with memorable songs, impeccable musicianship and thoughtful arrangements. After several decades (and the accompanying development of the internet), I was excited to learn his previously unreleased follow-up album of 1974, "Takin' So Long", had been released on CD. I was also terribly saddened to learn that he passed away February 1, 1994.

Like his first solo album, "Takin' So Long" continues his spirited jazz influenced sound, with the same producer and very talented musicians. But, these songs seem a bit more personal, even more heartfelt, reflecting passion for his music, tempered with more than a little frustration. "You Might Never Know" starts the album off with a lively testament to life, followed by a tender and compelling "Wouldn't You Love To Be There". As with his first album, each song is memorable, a contribution that builds through the last track. All that remains is the inevitable question of what could have been. Sadly, we'll never know.

"Takin' So Long" is more than a worthy follow-up to "Alzo". It continues a story that ends far too abruptly. And, that's a tragedy that record company walls cannot hide.

I bought this back in the 70's when it was an album and have worn it out from playing it so much. I was thrilled when it came out as a CD. I never tire of hearing Alzo.

His music is a blend of rock, country, jazz, soul, and Latin sounds. When you want to kick back, relax, and be taken to a wonderful place, then this is the CD to listen to. I just can't say enough about it, except it is one of my favorite and definately most played pieces of music.
