Serene, spiritual and sublime!.......2005-08-30

On her album Whisper, Genie includes lush arrangements of well-known Christian texts, plus a few other well-loved pieces to delight any listener. The synthesizer is prevalent in this recording, but is never overdone or overstated. It adds lushness to each piece, but as always, the focal point is Genie's beautiful voice, which is as sweet as birdsong, delicate as flower petals, and as gentle as freshly fallen snowflakes. These songs are subtle, spiritual and deeply serene.
The album opens with "Shalom", a beautiful lushly orchestrated piece that will sooth any spirit. Another version of "Shalom" appears on Genie's Higher Than the Heavens album.
Following this is Genie's beautiful arrangement of "The Lord's Prayer", which begins as a delicate whisper, but eventually crescendos to a glorious passionate climax. "Beatitudes" is wonderfully gentle, and again, is beautifully arranged. "All Creatures Of Our God And King" is delightful, and will have you singing along with the flowing lyrics before the end of the first listen. "Be Still And Know" is lullaby like in its beauty, while "Doxology" is simple and sublime.
"God Is Watching Over You" is deeply lovely, and features Genie's beautiful piano. "Be Thou My Vision" is a beautiful song period, but Genie's vocal here adds a sweet innocence rarely heard. The Welsh piece "All Through The Night" is a fabulous edition to this gentle project, and Genie's version of "It Is Well with My Soul" is soft, sweet and very special. Given the story behind the song, (and if you don't know it you might want to look it up), I've always found this song to be achingly sad though triumphant. Genie's version has none of the sadness I've come to associate with the song, and is a wonderful listen.
"Dancing With The Angels" is a personal favorite of mine. Genie's beautiful vocal blends effortlessly with the flowing guitar. This piece has a touch of Renaissance flavor, and a bit of a Celtic spin as well. Truly Heaven sent.
The version of "Silent Night" found here is perfect for any time of year, and could easily be used to drift one off to sleep. The closing song, "I Am So Small", again features guitar, and as always, Genie's gentle vocals. Another version of this piece can be found on Higher Than The Heavens.
The album ends with six tracks without vocals, perfect for calming the mind and relaxing the body. "Peace" and "Rest" are lovely pieces featuring synthesizer, while the final four tracks, "Gentle", "Sleep", "Calm" and "Quiet", consist of soothing rain and soft thunder. A beautiful ending to a wonderful album.
Whisper is an album sure to gladden the heart, relax the mind and bring solace to the spirit. Yet another beautiful recording from this very talented artist. Highly recommended!

This Is A Beautiful Album!.......2005-08-07

Even so, get the Genie 4 CD Box set instead of this. This title is one of the four in that set. Genie makes angelic and pristine music. It is very calming and spiritually satisfying. I highly recommend the 4 CD box set. Get that, and you will have a nice little Genie collection. It's a great deal.

Beats the heck out of taking drugs to get to sleep........2003-11-27

I told my Doctor I wanted off of the prescription drugs and he recommended that I use some natural therapies.

My massage therapist raved and raved about the Genie Music, so I bought this one and it totally did the trick.

The subtle spirituality mixed with the sweet sounds soothes me right to sleep without medication.

I feel better than I've felt in years.

This disc is worth 10 times what they're asking for it.

'Whisper' is more than relaxtion music! Here are two Christians worshipping Jesus with a heart to impart to the listener the peace that only the Prince of Peace can give. It is very soft and gentle, and those of you familiar with the practice of 'soaking' in the Holy Spirit will love it, if not, then it's still a very mellow experience.

I really appreciate that unlike some other artists who only let their CD's last 35 minutes or so, Genie fills her CD's all the way full so that if you let them repeat play all daylong, like I do, you have so much more variety.

When I have folks over for supper I also play the music so we can talk about the old times. WHat a delightful bed of clouds Genie's music provides for our friend get-togethers.

Songs sure to bring hope, happiness and total peace.......2005-08-30

On her album Wildflowers, Genie presents a selection of delightful love songs. These songs do not only address romantic love, but also love of pets, family members and God. All are heart felt, absolutely sincere, and very lovely.
At the center of each piece are Genie's simple yet passionate lyrics, delivered in a voice that is sweet as birdsong, delicate as flower petals, and gentle as newly fallen snowflakes. Nestled around Genie's voice are softly lilting guitars, synthesizers, and Genie's lovely piano playing.
The title track, "Wildflowers", is dedicated to Genie's grandmother, and speaks of childhood days, growing up, and the love of a grandmother for her grandchild. "Quiet Place" includes a fragile and beautiful melodic line, and is an achingly lovely song about finding serenity while living in a harsh world. This piece also contains one of Genie's strongest and most passionate vocal deliveries.
"Someday" is a wistful song, again, about waiting for a time of serenity and peace, while "Undying Love", dedicated to Genie's parents, is a lovely piece about the bonds and boundless love between parents and their children.
"Ariel" is a lullaby like piece that Genie penned for her dog. The gentle "You Steal My Heart Away" is a favorite of mine, which Genie wrote for her future child. It includes a melodic guitar, and a dreamy delivery with all the passion of a future mother in it. Truly lovely.
"Sailing Angel" is a soft, lilting, piano driven instrumental, and a definite album highlight. "I Love You More Than Life", "Life's Winding Road", and "I'll Always Love You" are beautiful pieces, and all would make delightful editions to a wedding or any special occasion. And "Streams In The Desert" is a wonderful piece about miracles and God's love. The final song, "Lora", is a gentle, positive and hopeful song about solace, healing and the grace found when you are truly loved by others.
Following "Lora" are instrumental versions of all the vocal tracks, wonderful to sing along with or simply relax to. The final piece, "Trees", is a poem read by Genie at age eight. It's a sweet way to end the record.
Wildflowers is a lovely and endearing album that discusses the glory of love. It is soothing, sincere and straight from Genie's heart to her listeners. A beautiful album, which can be enjoyed by everyone. It will bring hope, happiness and total peace. Highly recommended!

For a long time Genie has been my second favorite artist next to Enya.

Now Genie has caught up and passed Enya.

Mostly because Genie writes even better songs than Enya. They touch my heart like nothing else in the world.
