Revival of the Classic Italian Prog.......2006-01-12

After over ten years of listening, the original studio album "Campo di Marte" released by Mellow Records still remains as one of my all-time favorites. What distinguishes this one-shot band from the rest of the many outstanding Italian prog bands of 70s is the composition - 7 movements are so cohesively weaved together with plenty of melody lines that will be stuck in your mind forever. Heavy and fuzzy guitar tunes are well blended with delicate flute and acoustic piano. The only question is: "why the heck did they record only one album???"

This is a live recording of pretty much the same materials. CD1, recorded in 72, is pretty much forgettable due to its poor recording quality. CD2, which is a more recent live recording in 2003, adds a few impressive adlib tracks (I didn't know Rosa was such a great player until I heard "Bluesy Rocky").

If you're already a fan of CdM with their original studio album, this live version is definitely a good addition.
