REAL PASSION AND BRUTAL HONESTY can be heard in the new CD by CLIFTON called simply EP. But the landscape of emotions projected is far from simplistic. The conflicts of loneliness, trust, partnership, indecisiveness, confusion and mortality are just a few of the complex motives for this work. The same ingredients combine to ignite explosive live performances by songwriter Clifton Castelloe and his band. A collaborative effort from the start, the songs evolved from jam sessions with longtime friends and bandmates Steve Reed and Eric Bardakos. The songs were then taken to Bruce Winter (Toad the Wet Sprocket, Wasted Tape) who was busy recording music for movie soundtracks with Reinhold Heil (Run Lola Run, The Princess and the Warrior, The Italian Job). Winter's recording expertise and explorative approach were critical elements in capturing what became CLIFTON EP.
