About the Artist
In the spring of 2001, fresh from the end of Pest5000, Kevin Komoda and Patti Schmidt turned to an 808 drum machine, an acoustic guitar, a moog, and an organ. Both had been writing and performing songs together since 1992 - aided even back then by instruments of similar design and a lot of 4 tracking. They started to assemble a project interested in analog electronics, pop, weirdiosity and insidious simplicity. Extra hands and a sympathetic soul would complete them when Lewis Braden was recruited. Since then they have played with Chicks on Speed, Dat Politics, The Unireverse, The Electronic Humans Guild, The Fire Show and in a strange twist of double booking trouble - a 9 piece afrodutch jazz band. The NAB started the process of recording and assembling their material in March 2003. The spontaneous formation of Ta-Da records by Patti Schmidt & Jeff Waye (co-owner/label manager for Ninja Tune records) in July of 2003 provided the perfect outlet. Now here it be.

5 out of 5 stars another electro gem.......2004-07-30

Here's the latest entry into the electro/retro arena... a very entertaining one at that. This particular album is not as pop oriented as other 21st century synth bands (Mount Sims, I Am the World Trade Center, Ladytron), but the usual set-up is in place: cold, robotic electronics and detatched female vocals. The lyrics are obtuse and delivered well. N.A.B. also include some guitar work into their soundscape (particularly bass) which sets them apart from some other artists in this genre. Overall this is a very satisfying album... definitely recommended to fans of Miss Kittin and the Hacker, Adult., or Electrocute.
