The only good supergroup besides VR........2007-06-03

Velvet Revolver and BOD are the only good supergroups that put out quality music. Great album and awesome riffs from underrated guitar god Tracii Guns.

Its just incredible when you get together two of the most talented rockin staples ( Tracii and Nikki ) and then to top it off by tossing in Londons absolutely gorgeous voice. The entire album is insane from the lyrics to the actual talent playin it out! I love these boys! Shame they only made it one more go round and with out Mr. Sixx.

Not As Good As I Expected.......2006-11-02

Once in a while I like to rock out to some just plain down and dirty sleaze rock, and the brides fit the bill pretty well. Led by Nikki Six (Motley Crew) and Traci Guns (L.A. Guns) this mines similar territory to other L.A. based hard rock acts. I originally picked this up after Classic Rock magazine listed it as one of the top 10 albums of 2005. Unfortunately it does not really live up to that billing in my opinion. The music sounds pretty much how you would think it would sound with this lineup, again typical of other L.A. based hard rock acts. The songs are mostly pretty average, although a few stick out. The opener "Shut The F**k Up" is a pretty cool rocker. "Natural Born Killers" has a killer hook and is a highlight. The ballad "Life" is another good one. The rest of the album is all decent, but with nothing that really stands out. This is an album that sounds pretty good driving down the highway in my car, but it not something that I pull out very often to listen to at home.

If he repaid me (his mother) the $25K he stole from me his music and judgement in general would be much better I'm sure.
No biggie, just my inheritance from my mother.
He stole it over a year ago. He's my only child and never ever calls or visits, never has either.
This seems to be the only way to communicate.
Sorry Trace, but I have to do whatever I can to get you to give it back.

This is by far the best "side project band" Nikki Sixx has done. Not sure what the 2nd album without him doing the song writing is like, but the first album is awesome. If you don't have it! Buy it! Track 5 rules.

Totally What You'd Expect.......2004-04-09

When I heard these two clowns (Sixx, Gunns) were getting together to record an album, this is totally what I expected, bad music that's so ridiculous, I can't believe any record company was stupid enough to sign them.
These two haven't progressed musically at all. They took samples of the cheesy eighties music they used to record back then (which was really, really bad in it's prime!!) rehashed them for this album and what you get is this poor excuse for music.
Four grown men in their late thirties coming up with a name like Brides Of Destruction!! Can you really get more ridiculous than that???!!!

Much More Than What You'd Expect.......2004-03-22

Ther first song out the barn for this CD is the VERY old school LA Guns sounding, 3 chord punk-ish "I Don't Care". Which can be misleading to what the rest of this debut contains. This disc contains so much more depth in the songwriting than you would be led to believe by that single. The evident Nikki Sixx solo compositions (Brace Yourself, Life, Only Get So Far) display a much more mature writing style than you'd expect. Weaving a nice tapestry of hard rock staples, pop sensibilites and new ideas these songs elevate the disc up well beyond anything out there passing itself off as hard rock. These veterans are showing the kiddies how hard rock is really done.

The songs where Sixx/Guns contributed equally show I nice blend of the styles of Guns punk influences and Sixx's melodic leanings. The stand out rocker here are "Life", "Revolution" and "Brace Yourself". The latter song showing a nice homage to some early Crue. The power ballad "Only Get So Far" is a song surely missing among todays hard rock kids CDs. Heart string pulling melodies without sounding cheesy or put-on. The blend of harmonies and backing vocals in this song will have you singing along in 2 seconds flat and pushing the repeat button on your CD player.

Sixx's decision to go with an unknown singer was a wise decision to cut any comparisons to Motley Crue or LA Guns and is what sets this CD apart from their past works. Something new and something old blending nicely to create a very strong debut. Go out and buy this one - it's worth every penny.

I did not expect much with this CD, but after a couple listens, it's pretty cool!
This is really good! I forgot what music with guitar solos sounded like!
