Editorial Reviews
The album called "Eclat De Vers" is the first one recorded by the Marseille's band of the same name (That would be shortened for the second album). Well recorded and produced, a certain idea of Progressive rock blends with poetic texts, sung in a style between Christian DECAMPS and the famous poet-singers with message. The style of ECLAT DE VERS is developed through an energetic and powerful music, made even greater thanks to the singers voice and emphatic lyrics (A little too in the foreground though). The vocals develop on beautiful melodies with the excellent guitarists style. The second album by this band (First one under the new name ECLAT) being sold out (It was already a Musea issue !), the two albums "Eclats De Vers" and "Volume Deux" were compiled on "Volumes Un & Deux". Their music is inspired by ANGE (The wonderful "Circus" is here sung by ANGEs charismatic singer Christian DECAMPS), and includes medieval influenced that remind of MINIMUM VITAL. Some very good musicians also add to the overall good impression. With "Volume Trois", the band, once again together, performs a great deal of different instrumental Progressive rock styles, with superb guitar parts in the inspiration of MINIMUM VITAL and TIEMKO. Progressive pop-rock songs in French, ballads in the style of Christian DECAMPS. PINK FLOYD inspired Progressive rock as well as modern jazz-rock... On the live "En Concert, Marseille-Tokyo", ECLAT combines the hot urgency of rock, structural sophistication of Progressive rock, and harmonies coming from jazz-rock. The guitarist is particularly impressive, allying virtuosity and inspiration. This album gives a chance to hear all the bands classics as well as a previously unreleased track. Benefiting from a superb artwork by Paul WHITEHEAD (GENESIS), this new album "Le Cri De La Terre" (2002) goes even further into musical research. Now playing as a quartet (Fabrice Di MONDO, Alain CHIARAZZO and Thierry MASSE for the oldest, Bruno RAMOUSSE as a replacement for bass player Philippe TROÏSI, now in FUGU), ECLAT concentrates on an exclusively instrumental music with the exception of "La Vie Du Sonora" (With texts by poet Denis CARNEVALI). It can remind of an ambient and refined Progressive jazz-rock that doesnt look down on some KING CRIMSONs style...

The cd has its good points, personally "It's Over" from "THAB" with its haunting melodies portraying the consequences of war.
Xena;Warrior Princess volume six.......2002-01-09
Great Collection.......2001-12-25
Just another fine addition to my Xena collection!
Exceptional.......2001-11-30
Though, there is a complain:i can't understand, why after 6 cd's,the producers don't do a cd including cues like:M'laila's song, the cues from the Bacchaen festival, music from Deja Vou All Over Again, where in the end,Gabrielle says to Xena those wonderful words,or even the scene of the kiss in The Quest! That,i can't understand it!
Last, i believe that whoever likes LoDuca's music style, should buy this cd.
Pay attention to the 22 cue:Pas De Deux Femmes. It is one of a something and whoever remembers what's the scene of this song, will agree with me!Mmmm!
A MIX OF THE BEST, THE WORST AND THE MISSING.......2001-11-29

The Canadian pianist Marc-André Hamelin is quickly becoming a favorite with piano connoisseurs, particularly in late Romantic music. In this live recital, Hamelin concentrates mainly on unusual arrangements: a Beethoven movement as recomposed by Alkan, a Balakirev reduction of a Chopin concertos movement for solo piano, Busoni's Sonatina which uses themes from Bizet's Carmen. You have to be pretty far involved in the late Romantic ethos to appreciate these obscure tidbits, but if you are, Hamelin's virtuosic and colorful performances will prove extremely attractive. The live performance atmosphere comes across vividly in this recording, as does Hamelin's tone. --Leslie GerberCustomer Reviews:
Dissapointing!.......2007-07-12
You may want to hear just for Alkan's interesting transcription.

this recording is very great.......2007-01-29
I say here so will not so wounding, M Hamelin not is good play our Rachmaninov and Scriabin. So will not so harsh be Rachmaninov and Scriabin of his other recording difficult for artist such as M Hamelin are not the technic but the music sensiblite. M Hamelin a youth.
So! A great youth artist! Let he perform now youth accord a his greatness!
Fantastic.......2004-09-18
Hamelin's performance of Alkan's Beethoven 3rd is a remarkable feat of the recording age. Most pianists would never even touch the work with it's brilliant 6 minute cadenza that echoes the finale of Beethoven's 5th symphony. To perform it live is quite another matter. It is uncertain whether the great Busoni played the work himself in a recital he gave in Berlin in 1906. Hamelin's is the only recording of Alkan's transcription I'm aware of, but it's probably the only one needed.
Balakirev's transcription of the Romanza of Chopin's first piano concerto is a loyal one. However, this is probably my least favorite track on the album. While pretty and thoughtful, it seems out of place in this energetic collection. Hamelin's interpretation is a bit too clean and cold for my liking. His technique is suitable to play tranquil pieces wonderfully, but here it just doesn't seem to work.
Alkan's Trois Grandes Etudes op 76. are some of the most technically challenging compositions in the entire piano repertoire. In Hamelin, Alkan has a faithful performer that is able to create the effects of a full-scale orchestra on the piano using a mere five fingers. Not only does Hamelin perform this work live, he does so flawlessly. The first is the 'Fantasie' for left hand alone, the second 'Introduction, Variations and Finale' for right hand alone. The final 'Rondo Toccata' is a dizzying piece, reminiscent of the final movement of Chopin's Funeral Sonata. The 30-minute performance of this work leads one to admire both Hamelin's pianism, as well as his physical endurance!
The Carmen Fantasy by Busoni is essentially a whirlwind tour of Bizet with the flair of Busoni. Hamelin could have let loose with this piece, but instead decides to let the work speak for itself. The result is a reflective piece that is filled more with the contrast of emotions than excitement. Hamelin's performance is good, but it would also be great to hear this piece played with more energy.
The final piece on this album is Medtner's Danza festiva No. 3. It's whimsical that brings the album to a joyful close. This time, Hamelin's dynamics are perfect and bring out the color and energy in the piece.
All in all, 'Live at Wigmore Hall' is a remarkable achievement that is well worth adding to your collection. Hyperion has done remarkably well in putting together this album. The sound quality is crystal clear, and the audience's rapturous applause really adds to the enjoyment.

Product Description
XII ALFONSO got to be one of the "greatest" bands of international Progressive rock, thanks to their first album issued in 1996 and called "The Lost Frontier". Supported by a dream-guest list and a perfect production, this concept album was only the first part of a now prestigious discography! It is about Hadrian's Wall, in Scotland, which separated the civilized world from the barbarian countries during the Roman times. Led by Philippe CLAERHOUT, the musicians from Bordeaux have built a superb work with long instrumental parts, some female vocals (That can evoke Annie HASLAM), and a Celtic-influenced atmosphere sometimes reminding of Mike OLDFIELD. It also reminds of CAMEL in Harbour of Tears issued at the same time about. Mickey SIMMONDS, the then CAMEL keyboards player, helps with his wonderful symphonic sounds while guitarist Dan AR BRAS (From Brittany) brings a noticeable Celtic touch of good taste. A remarkable work ! "This Is" is the name of a previously unreleased album, recorded live during the year 1998. One can find the whole crew, including Thierry & Jean-Luc PAYSSAN (The complete VITAL DUO). A carefully packaged CD, with a crystal-clear sound. The following release, a year later, was "Odysses", in a similar style as that of the previous album, but with a little more colourful majestic music. Dan AR BRAS & Mickey SIMMONDS (CAMEL) are once again invited here, accompanied among others by singer Antoine TOME and VITAL DUO. A number of fans had been pleased with the Paleolithic music track performed on this album. This first experience also inspired a Spanish museum that ordered an album based on the enchanting lithophone sounds. Then, "El Canto De Las Piedras - Le Chant Des Pierres - Song Of The Stones" was recorded in 2001. A wonderful trip into time and history ! Claude Monet - Volume Un, 1883-1889" (2002) is the first part of an ambitious three-CD series dedicated to the famous French painter. The object is superb, presented in a cardboard cover, with a wonderfully illustrated 52-page bilingual book. A lot of guest were invited (A good habit !), including guitar player Ian BAIRNSON (Alan PARSONS PROJECT) and female singer BEVINDA. Sounding delightfully old, this music wants to evoke carefree days and times of countryside living. Mostly instrumental, this album passes through original territories, when four French songs from the beginning of the Twentieth Century are reinterpreted with a XII ALFONSO trademark. The shadow of the mysterious French female singer BARBARA is always present on this album which could well become a landmark... After three years of hard work and a first live album ("This Is"), XII ALFONSO offers us the second part of its trilogy: "Claude Monet - Volume Deux, 1889-1904". As luxuous as it was, the layout displays the same standards as its predecessor. And the music follows the same path. Once more, the band creates a very original instrumental piece of work, seventeen musical fragments mixing symphonic, neo-classic, experimental and French popular music. XII ALFONSO can't be linked with anything else, even if its musical approach has some common points with ISILDURS BANE for instance.
