High School Musical : The Songs.......2007-06-13
Did you like the High School Musical movie? If so, try the soundtrack! It's the same great songs, singers and fun. Every song (there is eleven) is the same as in the movie except now there is a chance for you to multi-task while enjoying the same singers from the film. Some include Mathew Gerrard, Ray Cham, Adam Watts, Faye Greenberg, Jamie Houston and Kevin Quinn. I really enjoy these songs because they describe what is going on in the movie. For example: when Troy is playing basketball (Get'cha Head in the Game), Ryan and Sharpay's callback song (Bop to the Top) or when Troy and Gabriella meet each other (Start of Some thing New).
I really enjoy these songs. I have memorized each and every one of them and sing along when I listen to this CD. Every song has a catchy tune, so soon, you'll be singing along too. With a High School Musical soundtrack, you can even sing along when you watch the movie. My favorite song is "When There was me and you". It is when Troy and Gabriella don't think they should go to callbacks. Just a little bit after this song they decide to go to callbacks.
I recommend this soundtrack for those who like the movie, High School Musical. The songs are a mix of upbeat, sad or just plain silly. Everyone will enjoy these just as much as they liked they movie. Those who haven't seen the movie will want to see it after listening to this soundtrack.

The songs are pretty catchy and as a Dad of two daughters, I would even admit that some of the songs are enjoyable to listen too.

Disney's new magic?.......2007-07-18
Ever since it hit Disney Channel a year and a half ago, it simply became another part of culture, going from a movie-musical to a concert, rerealeased CDs, special-edition DVDs, T-shirts, a stage production, a summer sequel, and all the singers became instantly famous.
In my area a theatre school gathered teens from local high schools to professionally preform HSM, and the show literally was an enormous sellout, an audience filled with six-year-olds and sixteen-year-olds. But what is it about HSM that is different that any other musical? Yes, it was on TV and publicized, but isn't Disney the same company that produced The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Tony-Award Winning smashes? I am not afraid to admit that HSM could not stand up next to The Lion King's talent and beauty. Maybe it's just the magic of Disney to be able to pull off songs that were pretty much pop-rock cliches and glamourize not-exactly-Broadway-worthy preformers.
So, if HSM wasn't as stunning as other shows, why 4 stars and how did this HSM phenomenon really happen? The story was good, about teens finding their way and discovering that "we're all in this together". It exposed many children to the magic of musicals, and hopefully inspires them to listen to showtunes, too. It's simply a fun, easygoing show, a movie I can sit down and watch just for kicks any time and not have to go to a theatre to see, and something every kid can relate to.
The success of High School Musical may have also helped spawn shows like Hairspray and Footloose to travel to the screen so those who aren't theatre buffs can still go enjoy a good show without the hundred-dollar ticket price. It may not have the wow of Wicked or the brilliance of Rent, but in a way I don't think it was meant to. HSM carries it's own unique beauty, which is why I guess I really can't compare it to Wicked, Rent, and The Lion King. It has its own special...magic.
It may just be the start of something new for Disney.
OVERATED!!!!.......2007-07-05
O.K., But not exciting........2007-05-24
High School Musical.......2007-05-16
My top 3 are: Bop to the Top, I Can't Take My Eyes Off of You, & Stick to the Status Quo.
Both versions of What I've Been Looking For are good yet Ryan & Sharpay's is better. I think that is because the song is faster.
The B5 Get'cha Head in the Game is not very good and the orignal is MUCH better.
While When There Was Me and You is very pretty and a good song it's kinda depressing and doesn't match the up-beat plot and music the rest of the movie has.
I Can't Take My Eyes Off of You is a very underated song. I for one liked it very much and its my 2nd favorite song in the movie.
Bop to the Top is my numero uno song of the CD. I like it alot and try to memorize the words.
Start of Something New is a nice song and fits in well but somehow doesn't excite me very much in the way my favorites do.
Breaking Free is a very pretty song. While I may not understand 100% why it is better than Bop to the Top I like it.
We're All in This Together is not very good at all. While it fits in where it is, it is just not very good.
Stick To the Status Quo is a very good song and is my #3 favorite on the CD. Sharpay and Ryan's part sticks in my head and I love it when Sharpays screams " Everybody quiet" yet the students continue to sing!
That is my opinion and I have included a few words on each song. Bottom line? BUY IT!!!!!

An Awesome Disney Effort.......2007-04-20
The Start OF Something New: This song is very pretty and it sort of symolizes the star of the movie saying that they meeting each other is the start of something new which it is.
Get Cha Head In The Game: This song is very up beat and energetic. It is about foccasing on what he should be doing [as his teamates think anyway].
What I've Been Looking For: This is very catchy and fun to dance to. In fact it has simple lyrics and dance moves that will keep you dancing and singing to it for days on end
What I've been looking for reprise: This is alot slower that the first version. But all the same it is very pretty.
Stick To The Status Quo: This one is good to dance to and I like one part in it [Sharpay: this is not what I want this is not what I planned and I just gotta say I do not understand somthing is really... Ryan: somethings not right. Sharpay: really wrong... Both: and we gotta get things back where they belong..] and [Gabriella: why is everybody staring at you. Taylor: not me you. Gabriella: because of the callbacks I can't have people staring at me I really can't] but overall it really annoys me nto the best.
When There Was Me and You: this one is very pretty and emotional in fact I can't describe it it is so good
Bop To The Top: this song is fun and easy to dance to you can also learn the movie dance on the DVD.
Breaking Free: This song shows the chemistry between Gabby and Troy very well it is also very catchy and fun
We're all in this together: This is fun and energetic it will stay in your head for days on end and you won't be able to get it out.
I Can't take my eyes off you: This is cool and kinda weird cuz Ryan and Sharpay sing it too.
this is a great CD and I RECOMEND IT [excuse the caps]

If your impressions of Ashley Tisdale are fuzzy around the edges but include visions of singing schoolgirls, blond supercuteness, and shrieking, hysterical 10-year-olds, you'll want to check them at the door before checking out Headstrong. It's not that fourth graders won't like the long-limbed High School Musical star's hooky, happy, and at times hyper solo debut. It's just that you might, too. Tisdale, a little like Lindsey Lohan and not at all like Hilary Duff, doesn't waste time ditching her groovy-juvie reputation to reimagine herself as a red-hot starlet here. "He Said She Said" is a steamy dancefloor seduction that ought to come with a PG-15 rating ("Baby I can see us moving like that/Baby I can see us touchin' like that," it goes), and "Not Like That" mines familiar misunderstood-celebrity territory in a way that's less whiny than worked-up. The thing is, it all sounds pretty good--from the head-bobbing urban beat in "Be Good to Me" to the fuzz and boingy effects on "Over It," Tisdale proves her appeal is not limited to junior proms. Which is not to say she doesn't leave a little something for fans who still dot their I's with circles: One of Headstrong's strongest numbers, "Unlove You," is tailor-made for belt-outs in pastel-pink bedrooms. --Tammy La GorceAlbum Description

It's sad that she can get a record deal.......2007-07-13
1. Intro-This sounds more like what I'd expect to hear on the commercial for the cd, not the cd itself. Who acctually wants to listen to this crap? I doubt Ashley even worked on this track, but just let the sound-tech throw it together for her.
2. So Much For You- I didn't know a demented elf could get a record deal. It sounded like crappy techno sung by a five year old. It was also very repetitve.
3. He Said, She Said- I don't think these lyrics are appropriate for Tisdale's main audience. And don't try and defend her by saying that she doesn't want the dopey kiddie audience. If she didn't want the dopey kiddie audience she shouldn't have been in a dopey kiddie movie.
4. Be Good to Me- "Can you be good to me?" NO! this song is childish, especially when teamed with Tisdale's childish vocals.
5. Not Like That- This song is arrogant and rude. Trust me, Ashley, NO ONE is jealous of you. After all, what is there to be jealous of? A whiny voice, a part on the disney channel (Like we want that kind of embaressment). Oh and we'd have to be known for the character Sharpay. Oh yeah, I'm sure everyone is dying to be like you. People are probably only staring at you because you're such a bad dancer.
6. Unlove You- This song could be better if someone like Kelly Clarkson sang it. I'm serious, I've heard a cat being held by the tail, and it sounded better then Ashley when she attempts those high notes (unsuccessfully might I add) Also, when she wasn't destroying my hearing the song was just plain boring.
7. Positivity- This song is positivly horrible. Just like all of Ashley's other songs.
8. Love Me for Me- "I'm not the girl you see in the magazine." Believe it or not, YOU ARE the girl in the magazine! So shut up and be happy.
9. Goin Crazy- Ashley, there's a reason why the guy you want doesn't like you. Want me to tell you? Because you're obnoxous and self-centered.
10. Over It- First off, if you're over it then why are you singing about it Ashley? Second of all, I don't blame the guy one bit for cheating on you. If I were a guy and was dating you I would be smashing my head against a brick wall.
11. Don't Touch (The Zoom Song)- If I wasn't reading the lyrics while listening to this, I wouldn't be able to hear what she was saying. Which, looking back, isn't a bad thing: "U wanna get somewhere, don't touch me there." And, "You want to score but it's not a game." Are dirty lyrics I would expect from Christina Aguliera's "Dirty" days. Not a wannabe from Disney Channel.
12. We'll be Together- Just what we need, another pointless love song. What, is there a factory that cranks out this crap?
13. Headstrong- The only good part is the strings in the beginning. The tune isn't that bad but it's not that good either. I will say that this is one of the few songs on the album that might've been written by a musician. However I doubt the lyricist had a 2nd grade degree in English: "Meltdown it's not a crush in a hot hot room we're in a rush."...WTF?!
14. Suddenly- If you didn't know what I was talking about when I called her self-centered, this song explains it all. If people know your name it may be because they laugh and make fun of you for thinking you are a superstar. News flash Ashley: You're not on center stage. You're in High School Musical. Probably becuase they couldn't find anyone dumb enough to say "Zip zap zop, pop like a mop." With a straight face.
I do hope we've made our point about Ashley. She can't sing, is not impressive in the least and looks to me like someone who's try and fail miserably to get on "America's Got Talent." She's not good enough to try out for AI. Someone should tell her.

Before Broadway was Disneyfied and Times Square became a mall, the best Broadway musicals were being written for Disney animated features by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman. Their songs for The Little Mermaid created the mold from which their even more popular work (Beauty & the Beast, Aladdin) would be cast. Almost every tune in Mermaid has its (slightly inferior) counterpart in Beauty, for example. But there's no topping the Oscar-winning calypso show-stopper, "Under the Sea"--in which a Caribbean crab convinces you that "Darlin' it's better/Down where it's wetter." Other songs, just as delightful, are even more impressive in the context of the movie. The rapturous "Kiss the Girl" accompanies a scene in which, despite the whispered urgings of creatures all around, the romantic hero does not act on the title's advice! That's the kind of abstract dramatic (OK, comedic) conceit you'd expect from Harold Pinter rather than Disney. And the gruesomely hilarious "Les Poissons" gives us a fisheye view of a kitchen where the seafood chef is a sort of French Ed Gein--a sadistic murderer who brutally tortures and chops up his victims, then eats them! Who says Disney never did black comedy? "...I stuff you with bread/It won't hurt, 'cause you're dead/And you're certainly lucky you are...." Lyricist Ashman may not have been Cole Porter, but he was the next best thing. --Jim EmersonCustomer Reviews:

little mermaid soundtrack.......2007-02-21
a brilliant rebirth in film and song.......2006-11-24
alan menken's first of four academy award winning scores is a musical gem. the intense flourishes on the main titles and in the happy ending finale are truly beautiful but the fun lighter tone that the majority of the score takes on is great to hear. the score really lightens up the piece and gives it an airiness (ironically enough) and allows the whole piece to really take on a fun fresh sound that is crucial for the film to work
SCORE 5 out of 5
as far as the songs go, this may just be the most consistanly good soundtrack all the songs are fun and fresh but advance the story well. no other album really contains as many sure fire hits as this one. menken and ashman made great songs here that utilize the necessary carribean influences that are truly wonderful.
FATHOMS BELOW - this is a fun opener that provides a great sense of nautical mythology and fun. it sets the film up well for the following songs that are obveously meant to juxtapose it. originally, the song was longer, but jeffery katzanberg required that ashman shorten the lyrics, the original extended version can be found on the special edition 2006 dvd.
5 out of 5
DAUGHTERS OF TRITON - this short little snipet introduces all of ariel's sisters. its pretty bland and dry and thankfully its quick. if it were longer it would definately bring the entire soundtrack down, but luckilly its short and over with quickly
3 out of 5
PART OF YOUR WORLD - this is ariel's only real song and it is truly beautiful. her song of longing is emotional and jodi benson's vocals take to a whole other level. many have covered this song, but none have topped benson's heartfealt version that combines longing and real sorrow. A+
5 out of 5
PART OF YOUR WORLD (REPRISE) - here is that trademark mermaid-on-rock scene from the movie and the fact that benson gets to belt out the ending bars makes this a real treat even though its so short, but this definately ranks right up there with the full version, and possibly tops it.
5 out of 5
UNDER THE SEA - this fun song was the oscar winner for best original song and it combines great carribean rhythms and sounds wiht fun fresh and witty lyrics to epitomize the fun and freshness that the little mermaid brought to the screen. the infecteous song is one that jsut stays in your head and wont leave too, but its all ok since this is such a great song.
5 out of 5
POOR UNFORTUNATE SOULS - this is ursula's big number and pat caroll is amazing at it. this song is wickidly entertaining and great. the darkly comic tone and cabaret feel make this a great vilian song and a great song in general. the incredable rollar coaster of intensities make this an impressive number that never loses the audience's interest impressively enough.
5 out of 5
LES POISSONS - this song has gotten a lot of credit for its comedic strengths, but really this is the weakest song on the whole soundtrack. it's just too comical and goes too far over the top. it fits well in the film, but feels mildly disjointed on the soundtrack itself.
4 out of 5
KISS THE GIRL - this is the second oscar nominated song and it is possibly the best of all. the combination of soft vocals provided by samuel e wright and the great soft tropical rhythms make this song an unexpected winner. on paper, these combinations are strange for a defining love song, but it all comes together with great ease.
5 out of 5
SONGS OVERALL 5 out of 5
this entire piece brings an impressive combination of airiness and emotion to make a musical soundtrack that is truly spectacular. menken and ashman showed for the first time their true greatness when working together. this piece isn't their greatest, but it was a great starting point that revitilized what a movie musical and disney film could truly be. this timeless classic is a wonder to hear and never gets old or tired.
JUST like the movie!.......2006-10-25

If you already own the High School Musical soundtrack, this live version may be a bit redundant; on the other hand, many of us just can't get enough of these songs, and it's fun to hear the stars of the movie perform them with live energy against a background of screaming fans--who occasionally sing along at the top of their lungs, as on "Breaking Free." The biggest change is that Zac Efron (Troy) didn't participate and was replaced by Drew Seeley. But Seeley acquits himself well of the task, particularly on his two big duets with Vanessa Hudgens, "What I've Been Looking For" and "Breaking Free." The former, as fans of the movie know, gets repeated in a super-poppy version sung by Lucas Grabeel (Ryan) and Ashley Tisdale (Sharpay), the kind of energetic performers who so often steal the spotlight from the nominal stars. In addition, Hudgens, Seeley, Tisdale, and Corbin Bleu (Chad) boost their solo careers by getting to perform bonus songs; they are from their respective albums but completely fit in the HSM sound. --Elisabeth VincentelliCustomer Reviews:
Lets Put on a Show.......2007-06-28
Lets say it this way, ITS great entertainment!if you have not gone, go to the show. I wanted to go with my nieces and could not. I did viuw the concert DVD and I was Hooked. Note you do not need to see the movie to enjoy this show
These young preformers (all from the cast of HSM) put on a show that capture the spirit of the movie..thanks to their talent and the magic of Disney. It is great family entertainment, which many have gone away from.
The soundtrack recording is a live version of the show and allows the CD audience a chance to relive the moments and groove with it again. Long after the stage show is a memory. This could play on Broadway for the closing Disney Beauty and Beast
and on disk two is a 5 cut DVD on the concert to enjoy, Is it worth it. Well its NO Mickey and Judy, but it works as great fun-so listen and watch the magic with your kids, relations and others who are tween aged

If You Didn't See the Concert..........2007-05-05
I received it in the mail on May 1st (the day it came out) and listened to it -- all I can say is WOW. The energy in the audience really made the performers shine! Listening to the songs performed live was awesome and I could tell that much of their energy was fueled by the audience! I really liked that they included Push It To The Limit (Corbin Bleu), Say Ok (Vanessa Hudgens), Dance With Me (Drew Seeley), and We'll Be Together (Ashley Tisdale) on the CD. The songs from HSM are in a different order than they were in the movie, but that's what makes this concert so great.
Then there's the 2nd disc which is the highlights DVD of the actual DVD that will be coming out in June. I watched that as well and it was great! It left me wanting to see more. I have already pre-ordered the DVD. I really loved seeing the stars perform live; there's such a difference between the movie and the concert. The only thing I would have liked to see on the highlights DVD would be at least one or two of the songs that Corbin, Ashley, Drew, and Vanessa sang (preferrably Dance With Me). But hey, I'm sure it will be on the DVD.
I think my favorite feature on the 2nd disc were the cast interviews. You got to get a glimpse of what they did backstage before each show and insight on what each performer felt about the tour.
If you're a fan of High School Musical and didn't see the concert ... or if you did see the concert and want to see it again (or in this case, listen to it again and watch a little bit of it), then I highly recommend purchasing this! You will not be disappointed.

It's no mean feat being the world's foremost crossover artist--a task that risks alienating two disparate audiences and everyone in between--but somebody had to do it, and Andrea Bocelli again walks that artistic tightrope with impressive deftness. The title may imply a casual intimacy (indeed, the singer admits to taking a more "hands-on" approach to the album's conception and production), but it's a collection that nonetheless continues to expand on the Italian tenor's ambitious internationalism. His collaboration "Sin Tu Amor" immerses his voice in the Gipsy Kings' own rich Iberian folk-pop fusion with compelling results, while "Where Love Goes" (a musical focal point of the film Lazarus Child), his English language duet with 11-year-old prodigy Holly Stell, achieves an almost liturgical grace. "Tu Ci Sei" (You Are There) continues in the romantic vein of his familiar theme "Con Te Partiro" (Time to Say Goodbye), while the single "Dell' Amore Non Si Sa" (With Love You Never Know) features Bocelli in a signature dramatic tour de force collaboration with arranger Mauro Malavasi, the accomplished producer of the singer's Romanza and Sogno albums. Bocelli's shrewd taste and vocal prowess here not only again redeem an oft-maligned genre, but elevate it considerably in the bargain. --Jerry McCulleyCustomer Reviews:
HOW DO YOU SAY,"WOW," IN ITALIAN?.......2007-06-22
A FEW YEARS AGO I HAD HEARD ANDREA DO, "CON TE PARTIRO," ON A PBS SPECIAL AND MY EYES FILLED WITH TEARS THAT ANY HUMAN COULD MAKE SUCH SOUNDS. I WAS ASTOUNDED; MORE ASTOUNDING, STILL, WAS TO HEAR THIS ALBUM AND FIND THAT HIS VOICE HAD ACTUALLY VASTLY IMPOVED OVER TIME. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE? " CON TE..," PALES IN COMPARISON TO THE QUALITY OF THIS WORK; THE TRACKS ON THIS CD ARE PERFECT, FULL, RICH, AND MORE MOVING THAN ANYTHING I HAVE EVER HEARD. I HAVE HAD IT A WEEK, NOW, AND I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO LISTEN TO ANYTHING ELSE FOR VERY LONG, AND I PLAY IT OVER AND OVER. IT HAS BEEN MANY YEARS SINCE I HAVE BEEN AFFECTED LIKE THIS BY ANY VOCAL CD. IF HE NEVER RECORDED AGAIN HE WOULD HAVE MADE A MARK ON THE WORLD OF AUDIO NEVER TO BE ERASED OR FORGOTTEN. WHAT A VOICE! WHAT SONGS! THE CUT, "LIBERTA," ABSOLUTELY KILLS ME WITH FEELINGS OF JOY AND MARVEL. I HAVE EVEN TAKEN UP STUDYING ITALIAN BECAUSE OF IT.
TREAT YOURSELF, AND A GOOD FRIEND, TO THE SOUNDS ON THIS CD. SIT AND WATCH A SUNSET WITH IT ON... I MEAN NOW!
Just buy it........2007-05-30

A new style from Andrea........2007-02-24
Un Nouvo Giorno stunned me the first time I heard it.It was so unlike anything I had heard from Andrea- very pop.But it soon grew on me.
Liberta is amazing.Very catchy and upbeat.
Sempre O Mai is my favorite. It keeps its tempo up and has the best of Andrea and pop.Great song.
So this album was really a double album with pop and classical songs interspersed.A good mix from the master.

Album Description
Earning Their White Stripes. "But what I'm listening to most of the time at present is an album called Good For What Ails You, which is an album of songs that people used to listen to at medicine shows all over the States. It's quite an interesting album and I think that people would be well advised to pick it up." Jack White - Sunday Mail (Australia) Dec 18, 2005Five Stars. Groundbreaking. "Fans of Nick Tosches' Where Dead Voices Gather will lap up this extraordinary snapshot of an America that is still shrouded in shadow. Good For What Ails You supplants the Harry Smith collections by surveying the people's music of the day, some of which sounds like nothing you have heard before." Jon Savage - MOJO Dec 2005
Before motion pictures, before radio, before television, the traveling Medicine Shows brought entertainment to America! Flamboyant pitch doctors roamed the land, hawking their tonics, elixirs, and miracle cures, and with them came a host of singers, dancers, comedians, banjo pickers, blues shouters, jug blowers, string ticklers, and minstrel men. The shows died out by mid-20th century, but not before a handful of seasoned veterans left their musical legacy on phonograph records. Here are classic performances by such colorful names as Pink Anderson, Daddy Stovepipe, Gid Tanner, Blind Sammie, Bogus Ben Covington, Fiddlin' John Carson, Banjo Joe, Shorty Godwin, Beans Hambone, Emmett Miller & His Georgia Crackers, the Three Tobacco Tags, and many more!
Two-CD Set / 48 Songs Digitally Remastered / Over 2 Hours of Music / Six-Panel Digipak with 72-page Full Color Booklet
A Profusely Illustrated History of the Medicine Shows, many Rare Photographs and Firsthand Accounts never before published, plus full discography and song descriptions.

Old Time Music.......2007-05-13
You will feel so much better.......2007-01-25
But at least we can listen to the music. I've only received this the other day and I've not taken it out of the player, it goes to work with me and takes me home again, it plays in the background when I'm busy about the house. Yes some of the sound quality is hissy, but they are old recordings and besides I would rather hear it like that, it adds to the feel. These are happy songs, even when they are talking about slashing someones throat. If you looking at this you obviously have an interest in this style of music and you would be doing yourself a favour by purchasing this wonderful collection. You get 2 CD's and a wonderful booklet that tells you a little history of the genre and pictures of some the the performers on the CD's as well as a little history on each of the songs.
The right medicine for the blahs! Outstanding fun!.......2006-10-23
Brings Back Memories to the Old (and Young)!.......2006-08-28
I lent the cd's to my father, and they brought back fond memories of his childhood in western OK when the medicine shows would come to town and set up on the square. Everyone would attend the "show" and listen to the music, sales pitches, and go home with something! He truly enjoyed the cd's, also.
Even if medicine shows are new to you, the music is worth the time to listen. Lot's of fun, interesting lyrics, and you might even hear something that has come back again!?
Priceless anthology.......2006-07-05

Nicholas Hytner's new musical drama Center Stage focuses on the competitive world of professional dance and, like Fame before it, features plenty of music meant to keep your feet moving. The Red Hot Chili Peppers' cover of Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground" and the Stevie Wonder-influenced Jamiroquai's two contributions would've found better company among the classical works of Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev featured in the movie than with the pop product that fills this soundtrack. New teen sensation Mandy Moore bookends the album with "I Wanna Be with You," featured both as straight pop confection and as a slightly techno-ed remix (the Soul Solution Mix). This time, the Diane-Warren-songwriter-for-hire tune is the ballad "If I Was the One," performed perfunctorily by the Baltimore duo Ruff Endz. The rest is the teen quartet P.Y.T., undistinguished stylists such as Ashley Ballard and Cyrena, and a Michael Jackson tune from Bad. Might sound OK during a workout at the gym, but not as serious listening. --Rob O'ConnorCustomer Reviews:
Fabulous.......2006-02-25
Center Stage Soundtrack.......2004-06-06
Disappointments: They left "Candy" off the soundtrack, and put on "I Wanna Be With You." Small mistake there.
Great Soundtrack.......2004-02-21
I could do without the Latino song "Come Baby Come" which not many people like to listen to unless dancing in a Salsa bar. Also one of the better songs I beleive it's called "Candy" is missing from the soundtrack. This would be the song during the warm-up at the dance studio. Why must they cut songs that should be on the soundtracks out of them?
great for a workout at the gym.......2003-05-25
Awesome Dance/Workout/Just chillin' music!.......2003-05-21
There's a song for every mood on here....from loving and longing for someone (If I was the One, A Girl Can Dream, First Kiss, I Wanna Be With You).....to ecstatic affection for one's best friend(s) (Friends Forever).....to power-workout music (Higher Ground).....to confidence of one's own sex appeal and/or abilities (Cosmic Girl, Get Used to This, Don't Get Lost in the Crowd)......to dancing for the sheer love of dancing music (Canned Heat, We're Dancing...and the salsa sounds of Come Baby Come).
If you loved the movie, chances are you'll be inspired by this CD!

So relentlessly catchy is "Soundtrack to Your Life," the single off the relentlessly catchy debut by MTV reality scenester Ashley Parker Angel, that the average vulnerable listener may begin to worry--after weeks of being able to hum nothing else--that it has literally become the soundtrack to her life. This effect can be especially troubling for boy band-haters--Angel, after all, was a founding member of the short-lived 'N Sync-like outfit O-Town--but it shouldn't be. On this solo debut, the flop-haired heartthrob comes across about as boy-band-derived as any recent entry on the modern rock charts. Which is to say, not at all. On opener "Let U Go," A.P.A. comes out rocking hard: elements of pop swirl around, but so do post-punk flourishes (a band like My Chemical Romance might have had a home in his iPod while he was recording). Later the disc takes a turn toward the mainstream, with "Crazy Beautiful," "Beautiful Lie," and "Feel So Alive" sounding as squarely pop--soaring guitars and all--as their titles suggest. But to discount Angel as a rocker because he has a way with a pop hook wouldn't be fair. Overall, this is Goo Goo Dolls-type rock, accessible but best played loud, with a surprisingly sharp edge. "Perfect Now" puts the point across best: In it, our melodic mastermind thoughtfully knocks an overachieving prom queen from her self-satisfied perch. The rub: he's not afraid to drop the "A" word in an early verse. --Tammy La GorceCustomer Reviews:
