A short review. This was their second album and almost all those who have anything to say about it ,say "terrible" I however do not agree. The group at the time was making a change to boogie woogie.Fine.The tracks on spare parts are just what one needs if one likes this Beatle-Bubble gum sort of psychedelic pop. The instrumentation and harmony is tight.Do not let the semi-critics steer you wrong!!.Enjoy the music and remember:The late sixties were a time of change.Enjoy the last of it 1969 without any nay sayers in your midst.I enjoy the songs everytime i listen. My favorites include-Face without a soul, the brass and strings are great;Mr mind detector only in that time would you hear something this wonderfully dated.Little miss nothing of course!Basically the whole album.Have fun sincerely SS

2 out of 5 stars Vision minus Imagination.......2002-01-01

I must say that I wanted very badly to like this band. The problem was, despite managing at least to like one song on the albun Spare Parts, I got the distinct Impression that this band was yet another young, spoiled white pretty boy/girl band who missed the mark they set for themselves by being derivative and unoriginal. Their Robo-act may initially appeal to New Wave, or Electronic Freaks, but ultimately, not the real ones like myself. The problem with this band is the same as many 90's bands, where talent, vision and imagination are entirely forgone for Looks and Hype alone. The Creative Fruit of which is always listless and dull... The Creators of this music did little to convince me they really were Space Age Machines. Instead, all I was shown was what I have seen before, a bunch of Yuppie Droids posing as Artists with no message, no purpose and no meaning other than the desire to be adored for a sleekness or a cuteness that quickly wears thin. I found myself wanting to listen to Kraftwerk afterwards, the real masters of this style of music, for Servotron left me feeling empty, aching and unsatisfied. They seem to be still taking lessons from Kraftwerk. In my opinion, they are poor students. This band seems more like a juvenille B52's, and one without a clue...

4 out of 5 stars Servotron in the Mix.......2000-05-31

WAIT! STOP! Do Not Exit! Unless you buy this CD. Servotron remixes with the club atmosphere in mind are here on this collection of audio mind control units designed to subvert the human race. I love every song on this CD, I just wish there were more.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent sophomore release by these Matchstick men.......2002-10-04

Status Quo's follow up to their successful debut, "Picturesque Matchstickable Messages from the Status Quo" in 1969 is not as poppy as their first disc, but shows the band's transformation from psychedelic hitmakers to a heavier, bluesier sound.

The music is remastered, and the whole thing is repackaged with nice new liner notes that detail each song. Two bonus tracks are also included (see below).

That being said, "Your Just What I Was Looking For Today" (also included on this disc as "Hey Little Woman") is one of the coolest droning psychedelic tunes out there.

4 out of 5 stars NIce follow up, lads!.......2000-12-23

"Spare parts" was Status Quo's, second album. It is, probably, their most forgotten one. At the time of recording, the band was signed at "Pye" records, and the producer Jhon Schroder with his distinctive production- style was imposing it on the band.

If you love the early Bee Gees albums, the very early Bowie and the Move, you will Love this one. Great pop- songs with a wonderful combination of fantastic guitar-work and a full orchestra. Try "Poor old man" "Antique Angelica" and "So ends anothe life" were you will witness a clear progreassion of band mambers as songwriters, "Little miss nothing"'s with Rossi's most convincing vocal preformance, and Alan Lancastare finest "The Clown".

why don't you have more info on this artist and CD. I went to her web site and was amazed by the beauty of her voice and the tenderness of her songs.

please add more info on her, including song clips so that others can find her too. thanks

5 out of 5 stars Terri Allard packs a powerful voice.......2001-03-14

I first saw Terri Allard at a house concert in Sicklerville NJ that my friends do every couple months. I mainly went to support the house concert series, never hearing anything of Terri Allard before hand. Wow, was I glad I went. She was fantastic. She mixes her set with fun dancy numbers and beautiful ballads. She's got a great voice and it can be very powerful!!! Good songwriting too. I bought Loose Change and Spare Parts right then and there and its terrifc. Since then, I've seeen Terri approx 6 or 7 times (whenever she's in the Pennsylvania/New Jersey area) and have bought the rest of her CDs. Check her out if she comes to your town and buy the records. Shes one of my favorites.

5 out of 5 stars Waiting for the rest of the world to discover her!.......2000-02-25

I've been listening to Terri play live for years in and around the Charlottesville, VA area from the little tiny biker bar where she played for tips when she was just beginning to the university halls she now fills without even trying. I thought she was great the first time I heard her, but her singing and songwriting have definitely matured every year and this most recent album is her best yet. Fans of Bonnie Raitt and Lucinda Williams are sure to like her, but I would encourage anyone who likes female singer-songwriters to give this disc a listen. She's been Charlottesville's favorite singer for a long time, now it's time the rest of the world found out how good she is.
