About the Artist
All songs are written and performed by Jim Rick.

"The Magical Frequency Band chose me to birth this project. They patiently guided me on this unique inspiring journey, encouraged me with a sound-hand to follow a fluid timeline to this predestination".

Product Description
We're shifting frequencies. Prophecy Rock is the energetic medium of the Shifting Frequency Concert, the grand finale and the time of the great transformation. I know that it might be hard to believe. The Hopi prophecy details much of this journey of mankind, from emergence to self-destruction to re-emergence. Watch the clock! Eleven Eleven. If you're going to make it to the finish you've got to be on time. Watch the sky for the blue star sign when the Blue Star Kachina will remove its mask and halt the sacred ceremonies forever.

The bright days are coming, but the darkness is here. When the world accumulates too many light-absorbing objects, blackness returns. I can't see you, but I can still hear you calling to me. Follow the sound, the beating of your heart and the vibration of compassion combined. We have to learn to live together and share. The synergy of souls provides the harmony, the background and the chorus accompaniment to the lead line.

Are you ready for the changes? Transitioning from matter to higher energetic form requires a fluid perspective, unattached and unimpeded by the fear of letting go. Step into the unknown enthusiastically! Can the hope of a fading dream, the vision of our love lasting, guide us through night's dark and enchanted skies, into the brilliance everlasting there within each moment passing by? Climb the ladder and don't look down. Climb the ladder made out of light and sound.

Prophecy Rock,Jim Rick,Jim Rick,New Age,Prophecy Rock contains original music and content oriented lyrics. It was last performed live with Ritchie Havens, the opener at the famed Woodstock Festival. Prophecy Rock combines Rock and Roll instrumentation with inspirational vocals.

5 out of 5 stars Best Soulfly.......2006-12-13

This is Soulfly's best. Dark Ages is pretty good, but this sounds much better. Some of the songs are a bit 'funky' like Moses, but they are really fun to listen to. The only skippable songs are possibly 10, which is just ok, and the second half of 12. It starts out a nice song, and ends with some random New Orleans Saints Came Marching In funky crap. Otherwise, each track is really, really good.

5 out of 5 stars The least best of an amazing band!.......2006-11-27

This was the first album I heard by Soulfly after I realized that Max had formed a band for over 5 years now (1999).
I new Sepultura at its best possible evolution.

5 out of 5 stars Almost Soulfly 1 All Over Again.......2006-10-05

This album is sick. In Soulfly, the production value was just stupendous. I'm a big critic on CD quality for music. Besides the songs, that's my main reason to buy or not to buy a cd.

Like the first Soulfly, everything was heavy, the guitars were raunchy, the bass roared and thunked, and the drumbs and cymbals just flared with fury. There was tribal drums written all over it, and you could hear them perfectly and especially with headphones-what side each instrument was panned on.

In Primitve, Max went and made it a co-op album with each artist's track, but the quality was all tuned down. Much like anything of Ill Nino since Revolution, just littled to nothing basically. The guitars were too clean, and the drums were muted out and panned too softly. That, and the vibe was just too uplifting, especially since Soulfly is all a musical therapy/dedication for Max coping with his dead son. This album blew.

Soulfly 3 comes out, and it didn't blow my socks off lol, It'd made me put them back on. It was a good comeback after the embarassing Primitive. I love how it was really more on the political side of the spectrum lyrically, but it's kind of a bore to feel it - now 2 years later with the support of the war and the world totally takin a downfall.
He experimented a little too much on this album. It seemed a little rushed as most of the songs all had their own volume and instrumentation (which is not bad considering it's primarily different artists every other track) But it just wasn't up to par. Honestly, this should've been the original follow up. If they would've just taken more time on this it could've been a gem.

Now, here we are with Prophecy. It's just as hard as Soulfly 1. To me, the first Soulfly will always be the best one because it's just SO UNIQUE and perfect. I'm not one to have stand out tracks, but stand out segments of the tracks, whether it be intro, outro, chorus, or break... That's the dice I roll. Every song has it's awesomely tribal spots with amped up solos and fit right in with your head as you're having an anxiety attack. They all have long hard rocking moments where you just stand there and bang your head for a good 30-40 seconds non stop, especially on my current anthem 'Born again Anarchist.' That's what really killed 3. It was almost as if there was none, or any that doubled over.... I'm sure I'm in the 'new CD rocks' phase and will tire eventually, but I know that when I put it back in after a 2 month hiatus or whatever.. I'll be kicking a hole in the floor of my car-and probably stuck in traffic because Soulfly, me, and I-95 just can't go together EVER without a big traffic jam. It's as if fate wants us to rock together or something... But in all honesty, if you are hesitant to know if this is another Primitive, or a weaker attempt at 3, it's definately not.

Max returns with more balls in hand than ever-and returns with what originally made Soulfly such a big hit from the Git Go. If you want another shot at Soulfly, take this... The only downfall that I feel is, towards the end of the CD there is a lot of fillers between tracks.. Some tracks go from hard to an abrupt soft end - but it sounds good, but just too abrupt. The reggae tracks you might not like at first, but 'Moses' has me stuck still in the chorus espcially when I'm at work. Hits harder knowing it's about a friend he lost. But besides those -half star faults this disc is definately good enough until Dark ages, which is a whole other rocking story I've yet to tell.

5 out of 5 stars WOW!!!! .......2006-04-16

Max is back! An amazing CD from start to finish. I was a HUGE fan of Sepultura back in the day but lost track of anyhting Max did after ROOTS. This is my first time listening to Soulfly (believe it or not) and i'm glad I picked it up! I love all the experimentation , sounds very fresh mixing all the world music styles together. THis is what I imagined what Sepultura would have sounded like if they were still together with Max today. I also love the HELMET cover of In the Meantime... just awsome!

4 out of 5 stars Prophecy.......2005-09-13

This is my Favorite of all the Soulfly CD's. Produced very nicely incorporating a more polished album without losing its edge. Songs like Prophecy, Living Sacrifice, and Defeat U show no signs of letting down right out of the gate. Even though I dont believe, I would have to say "I believe" is one of my favorite songs from Soulfly. Max and the rest of the band definitly have this down.

Unfortunatly my only complaint on this album as well as previous albums is, They insist on inserting these distastful instrumentals that do absolutly nothing for the CD cept ruin a perfectly good vibe. I really hope they dont do this on the upcomming Dark Ages. Thats why I give this 4 instead of 5 stars.

5 out of 5 stars AWESOME POWER METAL, WITH A HEAVY EDGE!!!.......2005-02-21

This CD is absolutley awesome, its power metal to the core, the lyrics are ferocious and the songs are well aranged.

-The singer is really talented and consistant, he also manages not to sound like a woman when he hits those high notes!!(no offence to other PM bands, it goes with the territory!)

-The guitar work is genuinley awesome, with great melodies and riffs that leave u feeling like youve just been hit in the face repeatedley, but for some reason it feels really, really good!!

-the drummer sometimes adds fills (or tries to) that are a bit too extravagant, and are faster than the song requires, but he is none the less awesome!!, i play drums so i know just how hard it is to play what is here on this album! he is one hell of a double kick player!!!, brill!

-Bass player is steady, not given much room for expression but adds neat fills and is clearly heard, (something which is disappearing in metal)

I am a massive Power Metal/Metal fan, my tastes range from Hammerfall(awesome), blind guardian(awesome!), iced earth(awesome!), rhapsody(awesome!), and of course the daddies of power metal, ManOwaR(All Hail). to Megadeth, pantera, iron maiden, machinehead, G n R, pre 1994 metallica, testament, Mushroomhead, Lordi, Saxon, Anthrax and others. My taste in metal/rock, has quite a spectrum, this band will make a excellent addition to my collection. I reccommend all of the above, every album is further proof of metals dominance and superiority over other 'NU', and 'RAP METAL' genres, 'DEATH TO FALSE METAL!'(ManOwaR, gods of metal)

    Track REVIEW:
Calling from hell 10/10 - Brilliant power anthem
Eternal Flame 9.8/10 - power metal 101, awesome!

Sign of the cross 10/10 - Brilliant guitar work
Night of the storm 10/10 - Another fav, awesome Metal!
The traveller ? - brilliant but much, much too short!, could have been a classic!
In Your Sins 11/10 - awesome track, guitar towards the end is tearjerkingly good and heartfelt, solo absolutely AWESOME
Forgotten Soul 9.8/10 - evil intro guitar, remeniecent of the mighty MACHINE HEAD at parts, cool track
When Demons Return 9.7/10 - awesome intro guitar, drummer seems to rush a bit at parts, Awesome none the less!
Regressus/Lost in Time 10/10 - Intro is spinechilling, really! Power, Metal and Might!
Mystic Prophecy 9.7/10 - Drone thumping kick snare drumming, love the double kick on this one!, more metal than power.
The Land of the Dead /10 - another double kick masterclass(hes pretty good at this!), heavy cool song!!

    4 out of 5 stars Great Album!!!.......2004-11-23

Ok yes we have heard this before...Honestly nothing new true...But honestly the cd is quite impressive...Hey the guys have Gus G axing those guitars...The vocals are quite good and memorable...The music is strong, well written and very well executed...Just listen to the first 3 tracks specially Lords of Pain...What an intro...After that song the cd follows basically the same path of hard edge power metal...If you like a better version of Brainstorm go ahead and buy this cd...

5 out of 5 stars Great Metal Band.......2004-09-09

I bought this cd and i love it the sound is very clear and powerfull my favorite song is "Calling from Hell" awesome band..

2 out of 5 stars Definition of Mediocre Power Metal.......2003-11-01

Well, my title pretty much explains this review. I burned this CD from my friend thats more into power metal, but he doesnt like it that much, and i like to think i know whats good in that genre, this CD isnt bad, but its definitely far from good. Why would you take blind guardian or iced earth out of your CD player for a second to listen to this? It's just a tribute to those bands but worse, enough said i think.

5 out of 5 stars Pulse Pounding Power.......2003-07-13

I just got the promo of Regressus and now I wish I
had gotten the regular CD. Regressus is incredible
Power Metal Excellence. On a scale of amazons' 1 to 5
it is a 10. No keys here my friend. Just rippin power/
heavy/speed Metal. Lyrically it is very aggressive as well.
Comparisons could be made musically to bands like Iced Earth
(at their best) and Gus G,s other band Firewind. But Regressus
takes it to a more powerful higher level. And the production
is over the top. The sound these guys got on this one will
punish you. As Arnold would say "If you do not listen....
    Then the He** with You".

This album meets all expectations from a fan that loves melody, raw power and energy through great song writing. Gus G. has great riffs and has the ability to tie in great melody withing a plethora of power chords. So if you are a guitar player Gus G. will certainly satisfy your thirst. He has a fresh strong melodic power sound that is much better that that of Alexi Lahio of Children of Bodom. RD Liapakis is doing a great job again and shows that power metal vocalists can put a sweet touch into raw music power. Strongly recommended...Burning Bridges (1st song) is a great example of what I am talking about. The Greeks have been leading the pack in melodic/classical/dark power metal and this is another kick in everyones behind!!!!

5 out of 5 stars ....as the flickering light of life goes out forevermore...........2007-05-19

Ah, Silencer. My absolute favorite depressive black metal band, hands down and no questions asked. A few other suicidal BM acts also hold a special place in my heart, Draugar, Leviathan and Beatrik in particular, but _Death - Pierce Me_ is a gorgeous work of sick and twisted magnificence whose equal I have yet to encounter. When I listen to this record, I feel as though I am watching the slow, agonized death of something beloved and infinitely precious...and knowing that I am the killer, knowing that I am destroying something immeasurably beautiful but yet unable to stop myself. I am aware of no other band whose music so potently evokes this mingled sentiment of self-loathing, misery, and morbid yearning. If you're seeking dark and harrowingly emotional music, you can do no better than this release.

Before even spinning the actual CD, it's evident that Silencer is far from typical, even by black metal standards. The photo of Nattramn (the vocalist) inside the booklet is singularly disturbing. He slumps, shirtless, against a wall. Dark streaks run down his upper torso, and sickly-looking black hair hangs listlessly, framing an enigmatic visage. The haphazard and bizarrely splotched corpsepaint makes his face a gaping wound. His eyes are obscured, but it almost seems as though he's smiling as he gestures with disfigured hands wrapped in blood-soaked gauze. A disturbing picture certainly, and one that effectively captures the tortured insanity of the songs within.

Silencer's music is painfully dark, driving and relentless. Sweeping, distorted riffs are layered atop one another, and weave in and out between the spectral underlying bass lines as the rapid and distant-sounding drums fire away beneath. The more intense passages are punctuated by slower interludes that reveal a doomier, brooding sensibility. These parts are rather contemplative in mood, for they contain a forlorn, thoughtful quality, a sense of quiet and melancholy reflection. But despite the extremely oppressive atmosphere, the overall effect is quite epic. Silencer portrays a world of stark despair, but does so in an open, expansive manner. Many depressive metal bands aim to produce a deep sense of spiritual torpor that insidiously drains away the listener's vitality. They often achieve this through the use of repetition to emphasize a stagnant feeling of motion without aim, in which one moves but goes nowhere. This is excellent when done correctly, but Silencer takes a markedly different approach. The music of Silencer has the oft-reached for but rarely attained quality of being able to take the listener on a journey. There is repetition here, but it works to create a feeling of fluid progression and forward movement. The instruments flow together seamlessly like the bitter waters of a dark and sunless river, carrying the listener inexorably towards some unspeakable fate.

But it's Nattramn's vocals that really add a whole other dimension to the music. His delivery is completely unique and instantly recognizable, although some comparisons could be made with Rainer Landfermann's performance in Bethlehem. Nattramn's voice is utterly wretched, and drenched with agony and horror. There are harsh black metal rasps, but Nattramn goes much further. Shrieking, screaming, sobbing, gurgling...laughing, choking, screeching, coughing...all here. It may seem unbelievable, or ridiculous even, but it works perfectly and could really not be any other way. The effect arising from the combination of the vocals and the music is truly indescribable, but I'll give it a stab.

For example, in the track "Sterile Nails and Thunderbowels" there is a serene and sadly dreamy undistorted guitar passage about midway through the song. Shortly after it begins, Nattramn starts croaking in a voice that sounds unnervingly like...well...Yoda. Nattramn utters no benevolent words of wisdom, however. This is a Yoda in his death throes, body ravaged by disease, crumbling mind gripped in the foaming jaws of the blackest lunacy. The pairing of Nattramn's hideous voice with the soothing guitar lines is spellbinding. Every time I listen to this passage I imagine a vast nocturnal desert, a barren expanse of sand and stone. Cold stars glint pitilessly in the endless vault of the night sky, and somewhere in the mute desert sands a creature stirs feebly: a dying thing, trembling and bleeding, body mutilated beyond hope and reason. Life is almost extinguished, and all that remains is a terrible desire for oblivion, the poignant longing for death as the last possible escape....

I highly, highly recommend _Death - Pierce Me_ to anyone even remotely interested in depressive music, and more especially to devotees of the suicidal black metal subgenre. Fans of Xasthur, Abyssic Hate, Wigrid, Shining, Nyktalgia and so on, your life is not complete without this record. Silencer is the archetype from which all subsequent suicidal black metal sprung. They were the first, and they are still the greatest.

[Note: Silencer is disbanded now. Nattramn was indeed placed in a mental ward shortly after the release of _Death - Pierce Me_. Since he comprised half the motive force behind the band, this turn of events unfortunately necessitated the end of Silencer. However, Nattramn was not idle during his hospitalization. He formed an industrial dark ambient solo project (allegedly for therapeutical purposes) named Diagnose: Lebensgefahr and released a full-length titled _Transformalin_ in 2006.]

5 out of 5 stars PURE SUICIDAL BLISS.......2006-12-17

If you ever feel like ending it all you should have this record playing in the background. This record is so grim and depressing that even the most optimistic of individuals will feel like useless pieces of trash after listening to it. And yeah, one could say that this music wallows in self-pity, but it seems like the anger and the sadness of the vocalist is aimed more towards humanity itself. Not to mention that this music deals with the complete destruction of the individual. Of course, this CD is plagued with feelings of self-loathing, but unlike so many so-called suicidal bands and bands that sing about suicide, the feelings here seem to be LEGITIMATE. Silencer is truly a miserable experience, indeed! For the most part, this music can be compared to the likes of Shining and Nocturnal Depression, but everything seems to be ten shades darker and more depressing. The one thing that is worth noting about this release is how unique the vocals are... For some people, they WILL be an automatic turn off. The vocals are "high pitched" blood curdling screams. At times, it sounds like the main vocalist (Nattramn) is having a mental breakdown. Indeed, it was even rumored that he was "institutionalized" after the release of this CD.

Silencer will take you into a world where there is no hope.

This is one for the masochists.

5 out of 5 stars Never has a band captured grief and misery and loneliness so perfectly and in such an utterly frightening way........2006-07-23

Silencer are spoken of with hushed reverence, and for good reason. Death - Pierce Me is dark and damaged, grim and suicidal miserablist doom-drenched black metal of the highest order. Talk to any of the current crop of the black metal elite, Wrest from Leviathan, Malefic from Xasthur, and they will fawn unabashedly over Silencer.

Thankfully, Autopsy Kitchen have stepped up and rescued this all time black classic from oblivion. And now you can finally experience one of the original black cults who expressed their blackened misery through impossibly anguished vocals. Hysterical shrieks, frenzied and overwrought howls of absolute terror. Never has a band captured grief and misery and loneliness so perfectly and in such an utterly frightening way.

But it's not just the vocals, the music is completely intense and seething as well, with an unrestrained turbulence, dense and buzzing and so emotional and personal and overwhelming. Heart rending minor key melodies emeshed in black swirls of buzz, the riffing so intense and totally manic, exposing a tortured inner world wrought with drama and tension, a dark soul exposed, a damaged personal hell expressed through shriek and buzz. The anguished blasts of blackness are separated by dark doomy ambient passages, from simple mournful acoustic guitar to droney piano fugues to simple melodic doom metal minimalism, but when the riffs and the vocals kick in, a huge brutal blackness dropping on you from above, it's the sort of musical moment that gives you chills, makes your hair stand up on end, and in the right frame of mind makes you want to just break down.

Which is precisely why Silencer and Death - Pierce Me are so revered, this record set the template for ALL depressive suicidal black metal to follow, and while some have come close, Xasthur and Nortt certainly, there is just something so special, and so utterly frightening about this record that keeps anyone from ever capturing the same black musical world of abject fear and unmitigated misery.

5 out of 5 stars Quite possibly Darkest Hour's finest.......2004-12-13

This, Darkest Hour's first release is a surprisingly super good listen, with all of Darkest Hour's finest qualities, speed, amazing solos, mellow acoustic moments, and great vocals. There is a little bit more breakdowns on this CD then Darkest Hour has on any of their others, and they fit really well into these songs. What amazes me most is how young Darkest Hour was when they made this and how good it is. I'd say that this and Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation are tied for Darkest Hour's best.

            5 out of 5 stars amazing.......2004-08-06

Darkest Hour is one of the most amazing bands out there. If you want just straight thrash influenced hardcore that doesn't let up until you pause the cd, go buy anything from Darkest Hour. Unlike most bands who experiment with pretty melodies and cathy tunes and hooks, Darkest Hour is just trying to make heavy, mosh worthy music and they have done so successfully with every release. Which makes them kind of a crutch of dependence in a genre of music full of bands "experimenting". You know what the next Darkest Hour album is going to sound like already, and that's the amazing part because that's how it should be, I expect full on screaming and instruments fast enough that they sand the skin off your face. Much like how you expect every Cannibal Corpse album to be, no singing and as fast and heavy as they can make music go. This band can do no wrong, even though the production on this album isn't the greatest, the talent is still there and so are the makings of a godlike band. "Every song sounds the same! B*tch B*tch Whine!" Then go buy some emo and stare at your shoes! Fans of this band have certain expectations and D.H. never lets you down, you know every album is going to be something you can get in a fight with and will make your bad mood even worse. If only there were more bands this good...then I guess we wouldn't appeciate this band so much. Nevermind.

            5 out of 5 stars i was impressed.......2000-11-29

I was never a fan of this band in the early days but recently someone promised me I'd love their new stuff. So I gave it a try. And... well they have improved a million times since their earlier stuff from a few years back. This new stuff is some of the most intense metal I've heard. It's defintely a step above these other hardcore bands playing their chunky generic stuff. This music comes out fast and heavy and when it's all over, you're sitting there wishing there were more than 8 songs.

5 out of 5 stars Look Out Below!.......2000-07-27

This record will crush you like a piano dropped from the 8th story window. You've never heard anything this unrelentingly heavy. If you're a fan of Hatebreed, Damnation A.D., or Buried Alive, you'll love Darkest Hour. This album goes straight for the jugular from the first track, and only lets up momentarily on the acoustic instrumental "Broken Wings". From then on, the record resumes it's jackhammer-like intensity on the brutal tracks "This Side of the Nightmare" and the furious "This Curse". The final track is a beautiful organ/piano instrumental, showcasing the full range of this incredible bands' talents.
