Editorial Reviews
5-piece rock band from Minneapolis, MN. Influenced by John Mayer, Coldplay, Dashboard Confessional, Maroon 5, and Howie Day - this band has lovingly been referred to by their fans as ColdConfessionalMayerDay5.
Product Description
When does a groove become a rut? An unusual question that represent the types of self-analysis we all do from time to time, when we stop and wonder whether we're on the right track, and if not - why? In their new CD "Ferris Wheel", Ladder El uses the familiar carnival ride as a symbol, not only for the ups-and-downs of life, but the feeling of "sameness" that life tends to hand us, making us feel like we're going through a repetitious pattern of motion that isn't really getting us anywhere. Driven by forthright lyrics and a sophisticated, energetic adult-alternative style, the songs look curiously at desire as both an inspiration and a source of dissatisfaction depending on whether we perceive we're getting what we want, or believe we're getting what we deserve. The idea of meaningless routine hampering a persons desire is expressed in songs like "Mind Me", about a nightly card game between friends who only talk about life instead of laying their cards down and making something happen, and "Shenan's", a song about a sleazy meat market of a bar that was the band's college hang-out. Sometimes the Ferris Wheel stops and you're the first to get off, and you get to look up at the folks who for a moment were suspended at the very top, looking down. That feeling is expressed in the song "Genuine", a conversation on emotional vantage-point. A mix of confession and expression, the CD is a musically interesting exercise in honesty that tries to say its good to look inside and confront what you see - the good and the bad, and to not be afraid to get off the damned ride if you're sick of going in circles.

A Great Entry Disc For Modern Music.......2004-05-24
It boggles my mind that in 1955 film audiences in record numbers came to see this film about teenage alienation - and got exposed to the New Vienna School quite by accident! Adams' conducting is gorgeous, and the recorded sound is superb.
Rosenman was a pupil of both Schoenberg and Roger Sessions. I am also rather fond of his score for Ralph Bakshi's animated version of Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings." Rosenman went on to supervise the wonderful classical music selections used in Kubrick's film "Barry Lyndon." Kubrick here - and in "2001" and "The Shining" - probably did more for putting classical music in the mainstream than any other film director.
A word in Rosenman's defense.......2002-11-07
East of Eden.......2001-02-16
Wrong CD.......1999-04-01
Passable, but not memorable.......1999-03-06

Album Description
7star says that descibing their music is hard. One listen to their CD, and any listener will agree. There are the straight ahead, hard rock songs, along with top 40 ballad. They have the studio mixes and the live songs. The 80's influenced tunes next to the sounds of the 2000's. Each song has it's own identity but all work together to form the unique sound of 7star. The same energy that they send from this CD, is the same energy you'd get from them live.If you like Lincoln Brewster, Deliriou5?, Sonic Flood, Third Day or Creed...you'll LOVE 7star.
