Interesting album; good potential.......2005-04-03

I'm an old guy, so I've never heard of Sarah Sharp before, but she was on my MusicMatch "Just Added" list so I gave her a try. Her voice is pleasing and has good dynamics, if a little high in its register (for my taste) and a bit sing-songy. It is an honest voice, though, without all the dramatics and shadings we hear from so many young artists today. The lyrics are interesting and very contemporary. I'd classify her music as pop, but with a little edge in attitude, not unlike Joan Osbourne, but without the raw power of Osborne's work. There is also a little of Norah Jones' sound here, which makes for an interesting combo. All in all, I'd say there are 4-5 good songs on this album, and that makes it worth buying. I think she'll get more interesting with more experience and more age in her vocal chords.

Great stuff individually but as an album it jerks you around... Some tracks, like Isolee's Porno Nights, are reminiscent of Kraftwork, some tracks, like Stereotype's Skyway, are good Ambient and other tracks, like Better Daze's Oasis are great jazzy gems... but not really worth the price of the album. If they'd just stick to one genre at a time it might be easier to listen to. Good sampler to find new groups... Mediocre album.

not worth it for the price! go with volume 3.......2002-12-25

It's a shame I say that really. The four tracks I do like on here (out of 22!!!) are very good. They are:

Moving fast man
Camping Jazz
Toki
Moonbathing

This are extremely nice, downtempo beats that truly resonate to me what this genre is all about. The touch on the ambient side that these tracks also use are very nicely done. I just can't say the rest of the cd is worth it though b/c the tracks didn't sound right, seemed annoying, repetative, and mostly, made me want to go back and listen to these four all over again.
