Album Description
Perspective plays a key role in Silverstein's new album, "Discovering The Waterfront." It is a central theme in songs that explore self-determination and coping with change. Addiction to negative relationships is another recurrent theme, from the opening track; "Your Sword Versus My Dagger" to "My Heroine," lyricist/vocalist Shane Told is beyond candid as he tells stories of obsession, hopelessness and ultimately redemption. The music is flawlessly executed, with powerful instrumentation and the melodic/raw vocal juxtaposition that Told delivers seamlessly.
Silverstein formed in Burlington, Ontario, on the outskirts of Toronto in 2000. Emerging from the thriving hardcore scene in their hometown, the band began honing their sound, and recording whenever possible. Two EPs followed and a former member of Grade began talking the band up to his friends at Victory Records. The band signed with Victory shortly afterward. They released "When Broken Is Easily Fixed" which went on to sell over 200,000 copies worldwide, earning the band a spot in Alternative Press' 100 Bands You Need To Know in the spring of 2005.

Helped Me Through Some Hard Times.......2007-06-05
Silverstein's one of a kind album, Discovering The Waterfront, has so many tracks that are so doggone good that it's just simply chilling. Very few albums touch me that way this one has. Everyone goes through the kind of things like these songs deal with. This album can be as relevant to your life just as it was mine. It helped me through some tough times and surprised me on how much I had in common with some of these songs. The famous tracks "Your Sword vs. My Dagger", "Fist Wrapped in Blood", and "Discovering the Waterfront" are all great songs full of meaningful lyrics. I can't praise this record enough.
best.......2007-02-28
This is one of my faviorite albums! It's a little on the sadder side of things but it's really great music.
Silverstein "Amazing".......2006-12-15
I Have listened to both Discovering the Water Front and When Broken is Easily Fixed but i have to say DTWF is much much better. Unlike many modern bands who enhance their voices to make them sound better SIlverstein dosent do it and they sound great. I saw them live in pittsburgh in october and it was amazing. All of their songs are good to listen to unlike some bands who have boring terrible songs just to fill space on the album. Currently my favorite song on the album is Call it Karma but i still think all the other songs are great too. Overall if you like emo/scremo music buy it see how you like it u might be supprised.
Discovering a better sound.......2006-08-03
I have to admit I never really liked Silverstein's first album "When Broken Is Easily Fixed", I found the music to be just like every other band except worst, and his voice sounded terrible, now I am quite lucky that there was nothing better in the shop for me to spend my money on, because this album is way way above the level of their old album, the first thing we notice is the lead singer's voice, it has definitely improved and I could honestly say I like it now, also there si much less screaming which helps their music sound better, the second thing you notice is the definite improvement in guitar works, there is not a single part of a song that just relies on chords, melody is omnipresent. The drumwork is also much better and the overall effect of these mark a definite improvement and help create a much more polished album than their last release. Silverstein composed a lot of different styles of songs, as much as the hardcore emo "my sword versus you dagger" or emo ballads like "Discovering the waterfront" and of course their hit "Smile In Your Sleep" which is a truly beautiful song, so if you didn't like the old Silverstein too much, I still advise you to give this one a try, and if you liked the old one, this one could become your album of the year. A must-have for anyone who wants a complete collection of emo, well done Silverstein, you have made me fall in love again.
Great.......2006-07-06
Silverstein is the very essence of emo. They have some EXTREMELY talented guitar players. wow. The lead singer's voice is Amazing, and the lyrics are wonderful. By far one of the most professional bands in the industry. This record doesn't sound like some kid recording from his garage. I definitely recommend it, but only if you're not looking to be cheered up.
