Great mix of songs.......2004-03-19
My favorite song here is Young country, a mid-tempo country song that features several singers who were then (1987) considered to be the future of country music. Highway 101, Keith Whitley and T Graham Brown all achieved significant success over a short period but did not sustain it. Steve Earle is still doing well but not as a country singer. Marty Stuart was also reasonably successful for a few years. Butch Baker and Dana McVicker never made it. So Hank was wrong if he thought that these guests represented the future of country music, but nobody could have predicted the number of new stars that would emerge in 1989 and 1990.
As a contrast to Young country, in which Hank extols the virtues of mixing country with rock and blues, he covers Thanks a lot, a song originally recorded by Ernest Tubb, a traditional country singer of a bygone age. Country fans should also enjoy Heaven can't be found, a ballad of the type that we expect George Jones to sing, as well as the reflective songs, What it boils down to and Shadow face.
There are a number of hard rocking songs here including the title track, Honky tonk women (a cover of the Rolling Stones classic), Keep your hands to yourself (a cover of the biggest hit by the Georgia Satellites) and Buck naked. The closing track, Practice what I preach, is one of Hank's trademark songs in which he tells it like it is.
If you are interested in collecting Hank's albums, this should be high on your list.
Pure Hank gold.......2002-04-18
there is a couple of country songs like the Tubb cover (Thanks A lot) but for the most part this is pure rock.
And as always hank is at the top of his game with this one, if you like hank then get this CD NOW! the price alone screams buy me.
if your new to Hank jr this is a good starting point, since there is no duds on this album.

Standard George Rock & Roll.......2007-06-05
This CD is a rocker with tons of highlights. Serious rock and roll includes the reworked Elmore James tune "Shake Your Moneymaker" (an absolute pounder), "You Talk Too Much," and "Born to Be Bad," basically the sequel to "Bad to the Bone," his signature song that everyone knows. Other really good tracks that I like are "I'm Ready" (a Fats Domino tune), "Treat Her Right," and "I Really Like Girls," in which George proclaims his love of the fairer sex by repeating that he "really really really really really really likes girls," and then tells you what he likes about them, in case you were wondering. As usual, George reworks other old blues tunes like "Smokestack Lightning" and "Highway 49" (both Howlin' Wolf penned songs), a Chuck Berry song "You Can't Catch Me," and writes his own new standards, like "I Really Like Girls" and the absolutely hilarious now classic "You Talk Too Much," which any straight man in the world who's married or who's ever had a garrulous girlfriend (and who hasn't) can relate to. This is a solid album with no low points. It's one of his best, and probably one of his most commercial, but it's still George's very basic bare bones rock and roll. By the way, if you like George at all, you have to see him live because that's where he really shines. His live shows are still as good as anybody. He's a workhorse. I've seen him several times over the years and he's still great.
A solid offering..........2007-02-06
Bad to the Bone ---Badder than Metal.......2007-02-01
It's a shame old George doesn't get the props musically that he deserves, but I guess blues journeymen are used to that. I hope he's made lots of bucks off the royalties from those commercials his music is featured in (Sam Adams, pickup trucks).
One of the things I've noticed about GT & the D's recordings over the years is there are usually 3 or four great songs on each one. Back in the old vinyl days, that wasn't enough to assure commercial success. But nowadays, with music down loads, you can pick the tunes you want for your personalized playlist.
My favorite four on this disc are: ' Shake Your Moneymaker', 'You Talk Too Much', 'Born to Be Bad', and 'I Really Like Girls'. If you have a convertable, this is top-down-full blast-roaring-down-the-highway music. If you don't have the car, 'Born to Be Bad' also is served well with beer and barbeque at parties, or boogie-down forest preserve picnic-fests.
Hey you metal-heads. Try this on for size. Definitely designed to get you rockin'.
Party time! Hard-rockin' good-time music........2005-04-15

David Bowie's glammed-out Ziggy Stardust may have inspired much British critical hype at the dawn of the '70s, but it was Marc Bolan's T. Rex whose infectious blend of rock roots and mystic troubadour conceits were the era's biggest teen-frenzy pop phenomena. Ringo Starr was so enamored of "T. Rexstasy" that he set about making a loose documentary on Bolan and band, one whose loose flights of improvisational cinema seem as dizzy as they do substance-fueled. This double-disc soundtrack to Born to Boogie's painstakingly restored and expanded DVD release is a fascinating, warts-and-all slice of pop history, mixing concert performances of key hits like "Jeepster," "Get It On," and "Hot Love" with live-in-the-studio rave-ups of "Tutti Frutti" and "Children of the Revolution," featuring backing by Ringo and Elton John. The "Tea Party Medley" is one strange soirée of hits, while disc two presents the only complete recording of a T. Rex show, capturing the band's triumphant Wembley homecoming on March 18, 1972, in all its screaming teen glory. --Jerry McCulleyCustomer Reviews:
Brilliant performances, dated fantasy footage.......2006-02-09
This DVD is the best you can get to show his performances.
However the scenes with Ringo just are not funny any more.
They are however interesting for historic reasons.
As a production for DVD this is a must get, great sound, picture and lot's of bonus material.
A must get if you're a fan of 70s rock
Quite a "documentary.".......2005-07-23
What really makes this particular DVD so essential is how well it has been remastered. There's even a special feature that shows the process Born to Boogie went through to finally end up as clear as it did. And boy is it clear. You're not going to find a clearer live T.rex performance anywhere.
Definitely recommended to anyone interested in the band, but also to classic rock fans who really have no idea what T.Rex was all about outside of "Bang a Gong (Get it On)."
Excellent remastering, and a great live T.Rex 1972 concert!.......2005-06-10
