Being an avid Bowie fan and an equally avid classical music fan, how could I resist this cd ? I was extremely disappointed in the sound quality and the musicianship.. it sounded as if the musicians had no style of their own, they were mechanical... The only good thing about this cd is it makes a nice coffee table coaster.

BOWIE MEETS MOZART??.......2002-11-13

O.K., so I know these quartet tributes are not everybody's idea of a great "tribute", but I love these things. I have several, and this one stands up with the better ones. Obviously, it makes little or no sense to have CD's dedicated to some of these artists( I mean, Matchbox 20?.........Oh well) The Bowie stands up with the Tommy and the Floyd discs as something I could see myself going out to see. I've always taken some of this music very seriously, and it feels good to hear it presented in this format. Not for everybody, but then what really is?

I don't understand the bad reviews here. Not all the songs are perfect, but there are some really inventive covers here from unknown bands. Bowie's music is tough to do badly and I think this is his best tribute album yet.

Fantastic Covers!.......2004-04-15

I love Bowie, but these covers are some of the most unique I have heard of any of his music. It's like Bowie covering Bowie only each group has their own take on the song. Definetly one of the better tribute albums. Great price too. I don't understand why people are shunning this great tribute!

Uh, If You Have Nothing Good To Say.......2001-06-15

Okay, I admit to being a fan that buys it all. However, asgood as a "few" of these songs are, they amount to nothingmore than (duplicate) cover recordings. It appears that every singer trys desperately to sound 'just like David Bowie' and it does not go over well. Last trash - what in God's name is Brian Wilson's song, "God Only Knows" doing here? Is this a joke or a seriously messed up management problem! Borrow this and make a bootleg copy, if you don't mind spending the money on CD-RW's.

This two CD set looks promising, but once you listen to it, you realize that covers are not what they seem. It's not because they're bands no one has heard of, but it's that they take no chances with risk-taking music. These CD's are only for collectors who want the complete set of Bowie items, not for the occasional fan.

It sucks.......1999-06-06

The bands are no-namers, which wouldn't have been a problem if they had the guts to do daring interpretations of the songs. Instead all we get are Bowie songs that will make you wish you were listening to the originals instead... I could not recommend this album to anyone. Don't buy it.

Excellent Album.......2005-06-24

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this album. Good arrangements, well performed. I would recommend this album to all fans of Bowie and also to those not as familiar with his tunes. Bowies' music sounds amazing whether played on delicate violins or rocking out with guitars. Well worth it!
