Mia Boyle tells stories filled with a honeyed sadness and rich mystery, using a strong, deep voice over luxurious guitar rhythms and harmony. Like a box of valentine chocolates, each song is a sweet indulgence, while it may be easy to recognize and choose your favorites, some will be a new surprise. This is apparent right away with "So Many Ways", Mia's voice echoes over and behind itself to tell you a sad love story that has softened with time. A few tracks later, "Birdhouse" is a hopeful, but far from naive, love song thick with poetry. When she sings " Everyone wants to see/you fly/'cause you have such pretty wings", the familiar pang that comes with an unconditional love that you may possess at the moment, by not much longer, hits you in the space between your heart and stomach. "Why Don't You Come Over" is somehow middle eastern-sounding

To compare Mia's voice and music, one can only imagine combining the voice of the Pretender's Chrissie Hynde with the best folk and psychedelic music of the 60's. Her harmony is note-perfect. Lyrics are meaningful, provocative and rich. Her music contains uniminagable melodies and chords. What a transcendent, paramount CD! Can't wait for more!
