Two Songs Make This Worth the Price.......2007-01-09

"One for Sorrow" is a marvelous song, and the female vocalist (sorry, I don't know which of the three women is lead singer on this) is absolutely terrific, right on target every time she hits the stratospheric high notes. Great pipes, and she must have perfect pitch to be so on target. Wow! "The Last Thing on My Mind" is also a true winner, beautifully sung to an impressive arrangement. By the way, this is not Tom Paxton's folk song of the same name (for which I recommend Tom's own version or, even better yet, the jaw-droppingly fabulous recording by the Australian supergroup, The Seekers, with Bruce Woodley as lead singer). Other material on the disc is pretty good, too, but the two I have mentioned more than qualify this release as a good investment in pop excellence.

Everybody loves Steps!.......2005-05-08

Steps is one of the hottest groups in the UK, where their records sell like hotcakes! This is their amazing hits album, which has a cover of the Bee Gees "Tragedy." Well, it'd be a "tragedy" if you skipped this CD, because Steps are among the best. Buy now!

Steps...why did you leave us?.......2003-12-03

Steps may be gone now, but at least we can still listen to them through their albums. This is the slimmed down version of Gold: Greatest Hits. People complain about the lack of tracks on this album, however people have to remember that this version of the greatest hits is marketed towards the US...which would mean...us! Like,no way. Avid Steps fans will buy Gold, while the casual listener will pleasently enjoy this best of. It has the disco thriller "Chain Reaction" (which is reason enough for a purchase) plus other fantastic Steps classics. Worthy of a purchase for the young and the young at heart. Plus, who can resist "Tragedy"?

Getting Stepped On.......2002-10-12

Steps were a contagious five piece pop act, a guilty pleasure of ABBA-esque pop brilliance, but never managed to breakthrough in the United States. They released two albums, "Step One" and "Buzz", which yielded some singles, none of which were hits on these shores. The albums however, were both great, the latter being almost the same as the Brit edition, while the former is a unique mash-up of their first two albums in the UK. Almost every track on that release was a British hit single, so the need for this set is very low honestly. Only a few songs are different, with the Best Of's "One For Sorrow" being the original version not released here. The hit single "Better Best Forgotten", which was not included on the first album is finally released here, and two of the Steps "Gold" singles are included too. While all the songs are great, every last on a hooky pop tune, the packaging and release are all generally weak. Why release a best of in a country were you never had any hits? It reaks of money lust, in my opinion. A good bunch of tracks, but for the real deal hits collection, go after "Gold".

The "Best" of STEPS???.......2002-09-07

I have been a fan of STEPS since I saw them perform on Disney. They were amazing!! At any rate, I jumped at the oppurtunity to buy their albums, but I must say that I was a bit disappointed that they didn't release Gold here. The Best of STEPS is a relatively good album, its just missing quite a few good tracks. But I guess as Americans we get deprived! :-) Most of the songs are from the US release of StepOne. They have like one from the UK version and a couple from Buzz. Personally, I think it's a decent album, but it could've been better with more tracks!!!!

Modern-day ABBA sound.......2002-01-02

I love ABBA, but let's face it, they haven't had any new music in the past 2 decades. I have found Steps to be a close alternative. Then I heard Better Best Forgotten and I was convinced this was ABBA reincarnated! Awesome vocals (Claire), great harmonies, melodies, and lyrics. It's obvious ABBA was the inspiration for this song. Benny and Bjorn should be proud.

"If You Only You Read My Mind, you'd see I was hurt inside..." is how this beautiful song begins. I can't tell you how charming it is to listen to this song...you can really hear a great progression in Lisa's voice, which most likely makes her part my favorite part of the whole song. I REALLY recommend getting this cd.

All Steps songs are great but this one is just top.......1999-05-01

I think Steps are really brilliant , i thourght 5,6,7,8 was ok.last thing on my mind was good.One for sorrow was great.Heartbeat/Tragedy was fab,but Better best Forgotten was just fantastic. it's really sad that all there songs didn't go to number one because all there songs easilly deserved to.

its the best ever album steps has released. you will find the number one hits, stomp, tragedy and heartbeat. there are also 5,6,7,8, deeper shade of blue, summer of love right up to chain reaction. There is one new track on there and its wicked. you should buy this...its awesome!
