The Truth Is ... be your own truth........2006-01-21

The second album from Mark Weigle found his exploration of gay musicality expanding from his debut. But if you notice the way the two titles string together ("The Truth Is...All That Matters"), it is also easy to capture the essence that his first two discs are very much of a pair.

As a big fan of Mark Weigle's music and having recently been bowled over by the movie "Brokeback Mountain," as the movie played out before me I was frequently struck to what an opportunity was missed by the producer's not utilizing the music from Mark Weigle's CD's in the film. In particular, from Mark's first album, the two song delivery of "The Two Cowboy Waltz" and "One Less Dancer" (a heartbreaking rememberence of a passed-on two-stepper) stuck me as perfect for the movie's theme of tragic love.

But it isn't just for that reason that you should find yourself a few of Mark's univerally decent CD's. His grasp of folk and country pass even most mainstream artists with major label deals. Of course, my main reason for falling in love with the library of Mark's music is the gender identification, after all, there is no way you can misconstrue the message behind "A Good Day" or "John."

If you've been waiting for a gay man that sings gay music without a trace of disco, high-camp or show-tunes, then this is the place to turn. He also made one of my favorite CD's of 2005, the astonishing double disc "SoulSex." They just don't come better than Mark Weigle.

Confident and meaningful..........2004-02-17

Mark Weigle's beautiful voice is such a pleasure in the warm arrangements on this 2000 release. Weigle's a versatile singer, with broad appeal songs like "A Good Day", and some of the best songs ever written for and about the GLBT community. Speaking directly to the listener's heart, the CD's title track is beautiful, painful and ultimately healing. The truth is...well that a lot of the truth of our lives is right here.

Confident second outing.......2000-05-26

Mark Weigle largely builds on the strengths of his very good first album. I guess this is more of the same to some extent (no bad thing) but growing confidence in his subject matter shows through songs like Good Day, a bouncy, sexy, uplifting pop number that's great to sing along to. The rest is a nice mix of slow romantic stuff, a bit of country, and the upfront queerness that makes Weigle that bit more interesting.

This is the best album i have had the pleasure of listening to this year. Em and oli compliment each other so well on this album Simple Matters, as well as seeing the enthsiasm they put into their live performances.If Simple Matters isnt in your collection you are missing out on a gem and should be ashamed of yourself.

From melbourne Australia, their unique style keeps you wanting more and more.

Supported the Black keys and toured with End Of Fashion and Faker, the next big gig for Daughterboy will be a tour with Interpol.End Of Fashion and Daughterboy jao are the next big thing to come out of australia, ( bigger and better than jet)

Trust me, if you are a fan of jack whites voice, razorlights catchy riff's, kaiser chiefs hooks, kings of leon's unique style, interpol's class, queens of the stoneage's Rock, Daughterboy jao is for you
