Obviously, You Aren't Ready For This Much Brutality.......2006-10-12
This Album is a bold, malicious hardcore statement. Very technical riffage and jaw dropping drumwork layout over some of the most in your face raw lyrics I've ever read. Not to mention the frontmans vicious roaring, styles perfectly over this intense masterpiece. The Minor Times take their own into originality with this abrasive sound they've created. I advise anyone who wants to hear real heavy music mixed with daring and sometimes shocking lyrics to pick this album up immediately. The lyrics tell disturbing stories about the stains of our freeworld. It's a good thing these guys are underground, because this is far too much for the normal music world to handle. This band is way to in your face for most, but will likely suit nicely with anyone who can't seem to find the right hardcore music. Look No Further, and Make Some Enemies With The Minor Times.

MAKING ENEMIES IS GOOD - 3.5 Stars.......2006-05-14
total let down.......2004-06-06
Huge disappointment after Total 13 and Safety Pins. The band merely go through the motions and there are only a couple of decent tracks until the amazing Painkiller- the best song they've ever done.
Swedish Punks Love To Roll.......2002-01-18
I love bands that can't quite fit into a category, and I was happy to be introduced to Backyard Babies by some musician friends of mine. While supposedly punk rockers, these guys can really ROLL in ways that you won't hear too often from more "standard" punk acts, and their musical chops are impressive. They've got an excellent drummer in Peder Carlsson, who has a lot of funk for a punk - see the sly groove he delivers in "Ex-Files" for example. Lead guitarist Dregen ignores the minimalism that is supposed to be the "rule" among American and British punks, and delivers a barrage of metallic and heavy rock licks that really brighten up this band's sound.
One weakness on this album is a slight lack of focus in the songwriting department, as the band is obviously trying to stretch out their sound into new territory. A few songs, especially "Heaven 2.9," stray way too far into pop and merely sound like watered-down Blink 182. Attempts at serious epics like "Colours" and "Painkiller" are delivered with precision but are not entirely believable. But these are just a few missteps, and the album is saved by the full-blast fun-loving rockers that are surely this band's strength. Favorites include "I Love To Roll," "Star War," and "Too Tough to Make Some Friends."
Note: If you dig Backyard Babies, check out their more metallic compatriots and cronies the Hellacopters, who have also featured Dregen on a few albums.
Rock'n'roll is back again!!!!.......2001-09-23
This album makes me remember the real rock'n'roll bands like Johnny Thunders and The Heartbreakers,New York Dolls,Ramones,Dead Boys.If you got the money don't think just buy it.Try to listen the songs like I love to roll,Heaven 2.9,Payback,Painkiller(Tyla's here). That's all!!

Almost Total 13.......2001-08-23
If you like the Backyard Babies, you're gonna like this album. That being said, it did have to grow on me a little. I don't think that it just hits you over the head the way Total 13 does. The first 2 tracks are killer and there are great melodies to be found on other tunes. Some of the songs are a little more experimental and less aggressive than Total 13. Overall, a good effort and it's great to see killer rock and roll still grooving.

What did you expect?.......2005-04-07
Two former members of Biwig team up to make melodic, progressive punk rock. This band rocks plain and simple. They are all extremely talented musicians. Buy this CD and definitely see them live. They will have a new CD coming out in summer '05 on Takeover Records, so watch for it.
Good stuff.......2004-03-22
saw these guys last night at the house of blues..... much props, awesome show... definatly see them live
Drumming Rocks ;).......2003-07-14
hey, well i have listened to this Cd over and over again. although i am not a big punk fan at all i find this cd amazing. they sound like messed, sum 41 and blink 182. anyone who likes punk at all should definitely look into buying this cd. and another thing, the drummer is awesome!! especially since he has only been playing for 3 years!! rock on! anyways i think this cd is well worth ur money.
Wow.....Just...........Wow.......2003-07-12
This cd is the BEST [money] I have ever spent in my life. If you are walking through a music store and you see this cd, it is your personal duty to buy it. They sound great, and for those of you who haven't heard too much about them, you will very, very soon. The guitar riffs are awesome, Jeremy's voice was practically made for this, and the drumming is phenomanel. All in all, I rate this disc a perfect 5 stars, made my day just listening to it.

3 and a half stars seems fitting.......2005-07-14
you know what? i'm almost okay with the fact that a LOT of these songs sound the same because i enjoy The Minor Times' sound so muc. it's loud, simple, and extremely pissed. pleanty of breakdowns, (though that's never been enough to get me excited if does give kids something to do at shows) and some really tight grooves.
the production kind of crackles a bit, and is very reliant on the tickness of both the rifs and vocals. i would call this an improvement from their earlier work, especially in the vocal department. much less high pitched, and ultimately much more powerfull. this album is far from perfect but certainly worth checking out. gotta support the philly scene afterall, right?
right, cowboy?.......2004-09-21
I'll try to keep this relatively short and simple. The new full length from The Minor Times is what we can hope hardcore (or metalcore if you want to lump it in with some of that) is becoming. Its brutal, unforgiving, and abbrasive; you can feel the pure emotion seeping through each scream. Most of the time, there isnt a happy ending, and this album drives that fact in. The production sounds great for this band and their performance is excellent as usual. I also suggest reading the lyrics, you might find some new favorite quotes. They are full of thought, sarcasm, irony, and a generous mix of pain and anger. If you dont believe it from the recording, seeing the band live will leave you with no question. One of the better and more intense live shows ive seen. I hope big things come to these guys, as they are both deserving talent-wise and seem to be just as deserving as people. Look out.
Im glad amazon added this to the site. If you like this, try to check out their old EP "Chris Chambers Never Misses".

Best Band Around.......2005-11-30
This cd begins with a punch with I Love To Roll & ends with 3 Wise Monkeys still punching you til the end! There is also a song written with Babies by Tyla of Dogs D'Amour called Painkiller. Very very sad song but very Tyla. Then there is Brand New Hate Ginger of Wildhearts help write, one of my faves. The songs like Ex-Files, Demonic Side & Heaven 2.9 are my favourites. But I also love P.O.P. & Payback, the way that song starts oh sexy little Nicke Borg, you go boy. The whole cd is just excellent! Not a disappointment among the bunch. You will hear when you buy it. This cd has lots of kick so be prepared to be rocked. If you like Social Distortion, Hanoi Rocks & Ramones come get this baby!
