Amazon.com essential recording
The gruesome details surrounding Tupac's third solo offering are enough to give any music fan the willies. Released when Tupac was in jail serving time for a rape conviction and just after his recovery from being shot-up gangland-style at a recording studio, this was his most introspective piece of work to date. The heavy-hearted album opens up with a radio commentary describing the circumstances surrounding his shooting, and then plunges headfirst into Pac's infatuation with death. "So Many Tears," "Death Around the Corner," and "If I Die 2Nite" are all dark, eerily prophetic tunes that lend credence to widespread theories which suggest that Pac anticipated his impending death. The perpetually thugged-out wonder reveals a more benevolent side when it comes to gender and family issues. On "Dear Mama"--a fitting tribute to his mother recorded in the "Keep Ya Head Up" vein--Pac takes listeners into the loving recesses of his heart, while on "Can U Get Away," he echoes similar respectful sentiments to black womynkind. This is probably Pac's most progressive issues-oriented release before he signed to Death Row and became a full-blown thug. --Dalton HigginsCustomer Reviews:

My best Pac album.......2007-04-10
There isn't a single dissapointment here. All the beats are excellent, the guest appearances aren't that bad and limited and Pac shines all the way through. Now i'm not going to review all the tracks as that would take up alot of space. So i'll just comment on my top 5, which are
1. Dear Mama -Absolute genious!!! My favourite Pac song ever!!!
2. F*ck The World - A very haunting beat with 4 short verses of Pac letting out all his anger (he was going through some very hard things back then as you know)
3. Young N*ggaz - A nice jazzy beat while Pac goes through his young days to his present. A brilliant hook aswell.
4. So Many Tears - Known as the darkest rap song ever.
5. Can U Get Away - Alot of people consider this the weakest off the album, but i love it.
Honorable mention: Me Against The World - One of Pac's most instrospective tracks ever
Anyway peace and rest in peace to

Sweet!.......2007-05-19

good idea. .......2006-04-06
however, a few stand out. such as "hold up," an entire song based upon nate dogg's line in dre's "the next episode." it has this really tight beat that sounds kinda like old old snoop dogg. before he dropped the doggy. if you're blazin' phillies, its good stuff to cruise to. additionally, "fight music" is a strong track, with pac flowing over "hate me now" by puffy and nas. it's really good because the beat is prolific, powerful, and quite emotional. the particular pac lines they choose are equally as powerful, giving one the feeling as though this is the original. "me against the world" is pac over dre's "still d.r.e." beat, which is pretty cool (except for the female chorus vocals). i mean, that's a killer beat no matter who rhymes over it. i like dre's much better, but this was a good mix. "thug in me" sounds kinda like something pac would've done when he was alive. it's a decent filler track, i suppose.
the best thing this cd has to offer is tupac's personal opinion that starts the track "revolution."
he says "this country was built on gangs. you know. i think this country still is run on gangs. republicans. democrats. the police department. the fbi. the c.i.--those are gangs. you know what i mean? the correctional officers. i had a correctional officer tell me straight up 'we're the biggest gang in new york state.' straight up."
hearing these words really made me remember how great tupac was. he had a lot of strong messages that unfortunately too little of his audience could actually hear. if you're a tupac fan and have most of his cds, then yeah. add this one to your collection because you'll probably dig it. if you're not a diehard pac fan, then maybe just consider it for fact that its pac with hot new beats. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. but definitely get this before you shell out $XX for Death Row's "nu-mixx klassics." this one is better.
Delivers what it promises........2006-03-31
This mixtape does make you relise something though. All of Pac's beats on his old songs seem tailered for him, cause with his style of rapping, you cant just put any beat in, even the hottest beats may sound wack with him...
I own every pac album from when he was alive, and his greatest hits, and there was still some verses in here I hadnt hered, so it is a good buy... All the tracks flow together, so it sounds like a real mixtape. The best song is the second one, Revolution Feturing Busta Rhymes, over that one really hot P. Diddy beat ( Forgot the name ) And what is cool is that verse is from Military Minds, and even though I found the original song wack, they make it really really good, even better than some of his greatest hits... The Dj's did a good job... Bottom line, if you are a Pac fan get this! I will soon be getting the B.I.G. one too...

Album Description
This release showcases the band's ever evolving ability to go from hard hitting dance floor smashers to top 40 radio hits. While still rooted in electronics with signature synth lines, the new album welcomes early member Anders Odden back by exhibiting more guitar work than on the previous two releases. Apoptygma Berzerk re-invents itself with every release, and this CD is no exception.Customer Reviews:
I hate it!.......2007-07-12
A great album, although radically different from the usual Apop sound.......2007-02-27
The guitars have taken precedence over the keyboards allright, but the songwriting is so inspired and the production so impeccable that, all in all, you'd be a fool to ignore this album just because it's different from the previous.
Listen to 'Back On Track', 'Love To Blame', 'Lost In Translation' and if you don't find yourself singing along with the lyrics in 5 minutes... then OK, feel free to discard this disc and listen to the Apocalyptic Manifesto again:)
Not bad. Ever changing is the Apop........2007-02-03
YAMATW isn't bad. It's just a turn of style. The heavier synth influenced rock has been making its way around the corner with The Killers and fellow synth band Shiny Toy Guns (check out all 3 versions of their freshman release...STG is former Cloud2Ground gurus Jeremy Dawson and Chad Petree.)
If adapting is what is ALLOWING the artists that we have grown to love to continue to make music successfully and BE ABLE TO AFFORD to make more, why are we condemning them? Afterall, isn't that what smart business sense is all about?
I understand the perceived feeling of these "sellouts" that a few of the synthier electronic bands are doing; I love anything synth. But being a good artist means that they know how to evolve.
Eat or be eaten. It's simple.
Get this album if you are a true fan of Apop. If you like the new emo synth rock hybrid, buy this one. If you're a rotten baby with his thumb in his [..]to anyone who wants to experiment, save your money.

Many artists claim to have been inspired by a variety of musical styles, yet their actual music seems to come in one genre and in one speed. Not Buck 65 (a.k.a. Rich Terfry). The Nova Scotia native has spent almost 20 years listening and to and playing music, influenced by everyone from Johnny Cash to Kiss. It shows--all coming together in his infectious musical style. Secret House Against The World can almost be split down the middle into two different categories: half of this disc is full-on, dark, twangy country (the first track, "Rough House Blues," could easily be mistaken for a '70s Cash number). The other style on his CD--exemplified by "Kennedy Killed The Hat" and "Devil's Eyes"--is an electro-pop/hip-hop fusion, with an almost Beck-meets-Frank-Zappa feel. In both styles, the lyrics shine through with cutting cleverness. "The Floor" is Buck 65 at his most candid, evoking Leonard Cohen-esque vocals as he takes on the subject of physical abuse, the somber tune lushly enhanced by everything from banjo to violin to DJ scratches. Since Buck 65's fans include members of Radiohead and Sloan, he seems to be well on his way up the ladder to success. Hype aside, Secret House Against the World is a wonderful, eccentric collection of frenzied beats and twisted country tunes that's likely to stay in your player for quite some time. --Denise SheppardCustomer Reviews:
Just a first impression.......2006-12-19
I have never found the Buck65 cd that didn't immediately affirm my belief that he has more creative equity than almost every other artist and he throws out great narratives on geat songs... he's Bukowski, Cash and an old fisherman roled into one.
This cd however didn't imake the normal impression on me and I am frankly a bit disappointed. I have listened to it but once and it might be wiser to listen to it a few times as it might grow on me. But if it needs to grow on me it isn't the standard Buck65 fare as far as i am concerned.
As of Dec 29th the cd has grown on me and though I prefer other of Buck65's cds I like it more than I did at first considerably. be well

A Tsunami Of Music.......2006-06-12
It is a rare and wonderful pleasure to approach something new with absolutely no expectations and be rewarded in abundance. I experienced that kind of thrill when I first discovered The Shins (living in Seoul, South Korea and being separated from all forms of English TV means that I miss all the press coverage of the latest and greatest bands), Alabama 3, and even, back in the day, Beck.
Buck 65 is certainly a musical maverick. He doesn't sit still, and much like the weather in Missouri, if you hear something you don't like, just give it a minute. Heavy on the craft, and light on the crap, this music pounds away at the edges of convention and leaves them crumbling and ragged.
It is a daunting task to try to describe this music, and I no longer wonder why my friend left me with just a name and no explanation. I could try to compare this album to a hasty conglomeration of others (and, honestly, I kinda did two paragraphs ago), but that's doing Buck 65 a disservice.
Let's put it this way: Buck 65's lyrics are potent and tightly woven. They are, in every sense of the word, poetry, and of a high caliber. Some might argue that the words tend to plod, given the repetitive rhyming schemes and their gravelly and sometimes uninflected delivery, and that's fair enough, but I still think, in spite of that, the language soars, and it is buffeted up by music that is unique in almost every way.
Unique is a hard thing to be, and not just because it takes skill, but also because a lot of people don't necessarily care for it. I can see how someone might hate this album. It is chewy and frenetic (Kennedy Killed the Hat). It is fathoms deep and sparkling with black lights (The Floor and The Suffering Machine). It is its own kind of creature, a chimera of country, hip-hop, synth pop, with a dash of funk and flophouse rock.
If off-beat, new, intriguing, honest, and smart music is in any way your thing, then you should check this album out. And, if it's still possible after reading this review, try to approach the music without expectations.
Because the expectations you don't have will be blown away.

Raise Your Hammer For The Mighty Thor.......2005-08-15
Jon Mikl Thor has released his new CD on Smog Veil Records and it is exactly what you expect someone with 20 plus years in the business to deliver. His usual brand of heroism and bravery placed to Metal music. Thor sings about topics like good versus evil and the power of believing in oneself to achieve victory. Image wise there are a lot of similarities to him and Manowar. Each of them is a true defender of Metal and Hard Rock. With this new release Thor has actually given us a couple of solid Rock tunes and I found a large number of them very interesting. While there is no "Knock Them Down" or "Anger" on the record we do have the "Coming Of Thor" and "Megaton Man". These tracks are among my favorites on the piece and are pretty good rockers. "Thor Against The World" opens the release and has a catchy chorus as well. For those that enjoy ballads there is a good one on the record as well, "Turn To Blue" is really is such a heartfelt piece and it has been stuck in my mind since I first heard it.
The CD is worth checking out if you like Rock and Roll and also wish to support someone who's dedication to his music along with his strength has never faltered. Raise your hammers high for the Mighty Thor!!!!!
